Rubbermaid Glass Food Storage Containers With Easy Find Lids Review & Giveaway!--Ends July 21, 2011

When I got my box from Rubbermaid with their new Glass Food Storage Containers With Easy Find Lids for this review and giveaway, I was excited once I examined them up close.  They immediately found a way to this cook's heart and I didn't even cook with them yet!

I loved how much better Rubbermaid's Glass Food Storage Containers With Easy Find Lids snapped in place and the fact they were made out of glass instead of any microwave suitable plastic, which always stains and has a tendency to collect food odors, requiring special attention.  Baking or microwaving in glass is so much easier to clean with no stains or odor problems to deal with for extra work!

The sizes of all four containers sent were just right for reheating any leftovers, perfect for packing  lunch to take to work or when visiting.  You can even use these lids in the microwave without fear of warping!

Furthermore, these Rubbermaid beauties stacked nicely in the refrigerator or on shelves.  You no longer have to worry about trying to fit another awkward casserole or microwave dish on crowded shelves, which thrilled me considering my love of cooking and my small kitchen.

You can use Rubbermaid's Glass Food Storage Containers With Easy Find Lids in your oven without the lids up to 425 degrees safely.

Learn more about this product here from their commercial or visit  their blog Adventures in Organization for more creative ideas!

These containers are the dreams of every cook because they simply your life and are so convenient, easy to use and store, while they multi-task from the microwave, an oven, a freezer to the dishwasher.  I can't express how much I have already fallen in love with these new Rubbermaid food storage containers!

Honestly, you should get this set because it is fantastic.  You can get a $1.50 coupon off the purchase of one container.   Buy online, or at Target, Wal-Mart, or grocery stores.

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  All I received were free product from Rubbermaid so that I may express an opinion.*

Thanks to Rubbermaid, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States or Canada wins the same set of their Glass Food Storage Containers With Easy Find Lids ($25.99 value)!

Mangroomer Products Review and Giveaway!--Ends July 20, 2011

Mangroomer-Back-Shaver.jpeg
The Mangroomer

I happen to have a hairy man in my house.  As indiscreetly as possible, I suggested Mangroomer products needed his opinion knowing he made an excellent test subject for the company.

The products Mangroomer sent my guy to review were The Essential Mangroomer Do-It-Yourself Electric Back Shaver, The Essential Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer, and The Essential Private Body Shaver.

It took my guy some practice and angling when he started using the items after his shower before he got the knack.  The back shaver was the product needed to whittle down some of his heavy growth on his chest and back. There is an online video that demonstrates techniques for using the back shaver.  It has five different positions that lock into place and an extendable handle.

He tried the private body shaver under his arms and along his arm.  This product came with the five setting adjustable comb, the recharging power adaptor cord, and the premimum foil.  He also used this shaver on his belly and chest to smooth and get down to bare skin without the red guide.

My guy loved how this tool worked.

Lastly, he groomed with The Essential Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer and looked handsome again.

By the time, my guy was finished using all the Mangroomer products he was comfortable and ready to model the new swimming trunks I bought him.

Ladies, if you want to clean up your man, Mangroomer is the perfect place to start.

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Cream & Hair Serum Review

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  All I received were free products so I can form an opinion.*

Are you after softer, younger looking skin but don't know where to turn?  Then, I think I can shed some light with the Antioxidant Face Cream sent to me from The Organic Pharmacy for this review.

organic-pharmacy-products.jpeg
Healthier skin and hair care made easier

This luxurious anti-aging cream is one of their best sellers, which I can understand after using it for a while now with how baby soft it made my face without artificial preservatives, colors, fragrances, or petrolatum that can clog pores.  Their Antioxidant Face Cream is ultra rich with the fast absorption and a powerhouse of anti-aging vitamins, herbs and cosmeceuticals as it improves skin texture with Sicilian Lemon, Grapefruit, Oats, Ginseng and Horsetail even when I used it plain without the directed Antioxidant Serum and Antioxidant Gel.

The Organic Pharmacy also provided me with their Hair Serum for this review.  As directed, I used a few drops after I shampooed on my still damp hair and loved the results when I finished styling my hair from the super shininess to how silky it felt.  Jojoba, Rose Hip, Lavender, Cedarwood, Rosemary, and Arnica are a part of what transform hair from ordinary to extraordinary!

I honestly felt my skin and hair were pampered and improved with these two exceptional natural products from The Organic Pharmacy, a company that takes great pride in the health and well-being of the consumer as well!  I advise visiting their website if you care to be pampered too!

Emani Minerals Review and Cosmetics Giveaway!--Ends July 19, 2011

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  All I received were free products in order to provide an opinion for this review.

Emani-Cosmetics-group.jpeg
Mineral makeup can be a kinder alternative to skin.

I am becoming a big fan of mineral makeup ever since I began experimenting with all the exciting new products that I have been reviewing as a healthier, but still beautiful alternative to beauty.  Today I will tell you about my experiences with several cosmetics from Emani Minerals that I was sent to review.

I received the Emani Pressed Mineral Foundation in Linen, the Duo Mineral Concealer and Setting Powder in Fair/Medium, the Crushed Mineral Foundation in Vanilla, and the Pressed Mineral Blush in Miami Tan.

I loved the convenience of use with their Pressed Mineral FoundationWith a few pats of their anti-bacterial sponge that was housed separately in the compact, my complexion looked near perfection.  Anyone with light skin that has some yellow tones would love this shade as well from the pretty finish I got from this product that won an award from Shecky's Beauty Guide as best pressed mineral foundation!

The next thing I played with was their Duo Mineral Concealer and Setting Powder.  Truthfully, I was unsure about requesting this product from the picture on the website.  It looked entirely too dark for Fair/Medium.  However, I am so glad that I chose it because it was a good color once I opened my package to see it in person.

Another thing before I even tried this concealer was how excited I was about the size of this product that every woman doesn't seem to have enough of.  This compact was as huge in weight (12 g.) as their Pressed Mineral Foundation, which impressed me!  As far as coverage, I found it worked on my dark circles like a champ without sinking into the fine creases while the setting powder gave it staying powder.

Next I tried the Emani Pressed Mineral Blush and was surprised, but not disappointed at the shade.  Although it was lighter than I expected, it was a gorgeous  peachy shade that lit up my cheekbones with a naturally healthy glow with just a few sweeps of my blusher brush.

I also asked to try their Crushed Mineral Foundation.  Again, I was unsure of the colors from the pictures shown on their website.  My choice of their Vanilla was a good one and the coverage was wonderful.  My complexion looked amazing while it provided that UVA and UVB protection.

I loved every one of these Emani products and do recommend to check their website.  The only thing I think can be improved upon is the pictures on their website because they can be deceiving.  At the same time, I know I  am interested into trying more of their products because the quality is wonderful.

Thanks to Emani Minerals, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States wins an Emani Minerals Starter Kit in Medium (Ginger for those golden undertones with a pressed powder foundation, mineral blush, big vegan-haired brush, and two mineral eye shadows) that is pictured below ($49 value)!

What You're Risking if You Don't Get Enough Sleep

Sometimes, getting enough sleep can seem like a luxury.  However, skimping on sleep can adversely effect your health in ways you may not know.

For starters, you can gain weight when you miss sleep because your hormones that control your appetite change flow and will increase your hunger.  In this sleep deprived state, you're more prone to grabbing foods high in fat and calories to satisfy yourself.

Without enough sleep you can also be more at risk for heart disease.  Studies have shown that women who get on an average of less than five hours of sleep each night are seriously increasing their odds of developing hypertension, which can lead to heart disease.  Without adequate sleep, the body produces enough stress hormones and other substances to build inflammation to set the stage for heart disease and stroke.

Skimping on the normal hours of sleep you need can also help you develop diabetes.  Regularly sleeping fewer than five hours a night gives you two-and-a-half times higher chance of getting diabetes than someone that sleeps a normal seven to eight hours a night.   The reason diabetes can occur is because you need deep sleep to regulate blood-sugar levels.

Another negative health impact of insufficient sleep is you will become more irritable and unable to handle your emotions very well.  This happens because part of your brain that controls reasoning becomes deactivated due to a lack of sleep.

Lastly, you will get sick more.  You need normal hours of sleep because cytokines, chemicals that help the immune system, are released to fight off disease and infection.  Being sleep deficient can lead to more infections and even affect how your body produces antibodies after a vaccination.   According to the research, sleep starved people often only produce half the flu antibodies compared to a regular sleeper.

How to Move on From Life's Problems

Life often throws us surprises.  Some are happy and others are sad, either way we are affected daily.  However, it is how we handle those bumps in the road that can either mold us into stronger individuals or crush our hopes and dreams if we can't find our way.

Regardless of being rich or poor, every person has their own unique set of problems to cope with.  No one wants problems, but we all have them.   Fear and worry drains your energy.  Those negative emotions can trap you for years if you allow it to take over your thoughts.

The real test of moving on is to learn how to be optimistic instead of letting the problem stay with you.

Some problems can force you to look differently at your life. Try to start asking yourself what if questions.  What if this setback is a wake-up call?   It can bring out new talents that you may never have thought were within you.  The problem can also open the door to the next chapter in your life. You just need to learn how to embrace each change and adapt.

Think of life as a game, a video game to be more precise.  You need to master one level of the game or you cannot advance.  Problems test your strength and force change.  You can struggle in the same place and stay where you are or eventually see the solution.

However, you need to play the game first to win because the challenges always keep coming while the stakes  keep getting higher!  You just need to sharpen your skills with practice.

Need a Fabulous Homemade Facial Mask to Treat Oily Skin?

honey-for-homemade-oily-skin-facial-mask.jpeg
Honey heals, moisturizes and is a natural antibacterial in this DIY Oily Skin Facial Mask.

I have combination skin and am plagued by dryness in parts and oiliness in other areas such as the nose and chin.  In an earlier post, I shared several wonderful masks that I use to help correct dryness and oiliness that you can make in your own kitchen.  This recipe is one that you can feel drawing the impurities out once it is on your face.

Mix one tablespoon of honey, one egg white, one teaspoon of kaolin powder and two teaspoons of plain yogurt together until thick enough to spread on your clean face like a typical mask.

Go hide away and relax on the bed while you have this mask on and allow the effective treatment to kick in.  Once you start feeling the mixture tightening,  you can wash it off with lukewarm water and follow with cold before patting dry.

This will help curb back that oiliness nicely!

An amazing fragrance that is perfect for summer.

How Victoria's Secret could top their 2011 FiFi award winning fragrance of the year Bombshell perfume is amazing to me.  However, this take off from the original fragrance geared to summer that I was sent for this review and giveaway is something you can't miss either!

Ancient Minerals Line Review and Giveaway!--Ends July 15, 2011

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Ancient Minerals products.jpeg
Ancient Minerals

Did you know that most people in the world are deficient in magnesium and probably don't even know it?  Due to the way our food is processed, effects of the environment, medications, it is estimated by the U.S. Department of Health that one in five Americans doesn't get enough of what is considered one of the seven essential nutrients for good health.

As a result, an insufficient amount of magnesium can leave us prone to a multiple of health problems from eczema, allergies, headaches, anxiety, chronic pain from arthritis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiac health, asthma,  low energy production, to effects of the nervous system to begin with.  Learn more about magnesium deficiency here.

Unless you take a blood test to determine the amount of magnesium in your blood, you may be experiencing symptoms of a deficiency and be at risk.  However, there is a safe alternative for better absorption with a topically applied magnesium that delivers the necessary nutrient through your skin.

A transdermal (topical magnesium) like the products I was recently sent for this review and giveaway from Ancient Minerals is  a better option than an oral version for a few reasons.  For starters, you would probably develop diarrhea for the amount of oral magnesium  needed to satisfy the deficiency.  Another reason is that Magnesium Oxide does not stay in your system adequately and gets excreted unlike the topical products that I have been testing.

I wanted to try these Ancient Minerals products because I believe in the good they can do after I researched the subject.  Being one with allergies and a painful wrist lately, I thought this project would be an interesting test.

The Ancient Minerals Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes is the weakest form of this line that I gradually introduced my body to.  This magnesium has been untouched from modern pollution deep into the earth for the past 250 million years in the Ancient Zechstein Seabed.  I followed the recommended one cup of flakes to my bath water and soaked for 10 minutes.  I did and followed with the Magnesium Lotion, which is slighter stronger to my arms and legs, especially the wrist.

I bathed in the flakes twice in one week, but I used the lotion every day for one week.  My wrist was not better after such a short time, but my pain did seem to be lessening slightly after my initial week with the lotion.

I tried the Magnesium Gel Plus also next for several days.  This formula keeps hydrated on the skin with certified organic aloe vera and needed to be wiped off after use.  This was fine with me, but slightly more work than the lotion.

With hopeful expectation, I decided my body might be ready for the strongest form of the Magnesium Oil Spray.  This does give a slight tingly feeling, but I have been applying it every day to my wrist.   I think something like this would take at least a month of use to fully take advantage of the benefits.  This product does seem to curb some of the pain the more days I keep using it.

I am going to continue using these products and will eventually test the lotion on my forehead to see how the allergies due because I do see a difference already in how my wrist is feeling.  Anyone suffering from any of the symptoms I mentioned should consider topical magnesium as a possible solution.

Before you think of using any transdermal magnesium products, you should check with your doctor if you are currently taking any medication.  Those on blood thinners should not use this type of product because your test levels can be altered.

Thanks to Ancient Minerals , one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States or Canada wins the Magnesium Chloride Bath Flakes,  Magnesium Lotion, Magnesium Gel Plus, and the Magnesium Oil Spray ($147 value)!

Recipe: For a Lazy Day Summer Dinner Try My Delicious No Work Tuna Spaghetti!

Plate of my No Work Tuna Spaghetti.jpeg
Here is a plate of my No-Work Tuna Spaghetti

This is the perfect type of lazy day summer dinner that requires only a minimum of effort to keep you near that hot stove.  At the same time, this is also one of my favorite recipes all year long since it is easy to prepare, healthy, and does not involve too much time when you are busy.  You will be surprised at how the addition of mustard takes away the strong taste of tuna and changes the flavor into something more like a clam.

Usually I like to make my own homemade pasta dough.  However, I do resort to store bought on occasion when I'm short of time.  You can make my dough recipe as I shared with you in an early post or use a one pound box.  Both methods will work well, but I will be honest that homemade pasta does taste better and I am spoiled when it comes to fresh pasta and homemade bread and do prefer making my own.

The only real work in this recipe involves peeling lots of garlic.  If you hate garlic, you can substitute onion or use equal parts of both.  I made this countless times both ways, but usually prefer the garlic version best.

You can use Dijon mustard or prepared yellow mustard.  Both taste equally delicious in this recipe, only the prepared mustard version is slightly sweeter and cheaper.

Save about two tablespoons of your boiled water that you cooked your spaghetti in to add to your sauce.  This helps thicken it up slightly.

I do hope you will try this recipe out because it is delicious, easy, and economical.  Trust me, but you can fool even tuna haters with the incredible flavor of this dish.  They just might think they are dining on clam!

My No Work Tuna Spaghetti

two 5-oz. cans of tuna fish (use packed in water, do not drain)
1/4 cup of olive oil
8-10 large cloves of fresh garlic, peeled and chopped or (1 medium onion, peeled and chopped)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard or prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon margarine
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons water from your boiled spaghetti
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1 lb. of spaghetti

Clean and peel your garlic or onion or both and chop fine.

Brown your garlic pieces in the olive oil  in your skillet until golden, then stir in your mustard, tuna, margarine, lemon juice, pepper, water, and salt for your sauce.

When cooked through throw over your cooked spaghetti and blend.  Top with grated Parmesan or Romano cheese and enjoy!

ENJOY!

Some Tips to Save You Time Waiting in Lines!

With our tight schedules, time is something precious.  None of us likes to waste extra time  standing in long lines if we can avoid it.  There are some tips that may help save you the hassle.

When you need to do your banking, you might think of skipping that visit near lunch hours, especially in business districts.  Another thing you should keep in mind is that paychecks usually get deposited the first and 15th of the month.

Instead, you would find it wiser to stop by your bank midmorning or midafternoon during the middle of the week for the fastest service.

Have you hunted for advertised sales at a department store during your lunch hour or on the weekends and found nothing left?  I know I have wasted more than my share of time searching needlessly until I found a better way.

Instead, your best bet would be to stop in one hour after the store opens if possible or around 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.   Another tactic would be checking the store the night before the big sale an hour before closing as the retail staff prepares to set up for the sale.  Sometimes you can buy items ahead of time.

You need to go to one of the home centers.  However, you should plan your visit around lunchtime to midafternoon instead of mornings when contractors come for their supplies.

Post office lines can take forever if you show up at the wrong time.  The worst times to go to the post office are lunch hours, upon opening and about an hour before closing.

The best time probably to go the post office is midmorning and midafternoons.

None of these suggestions are guarantees only best bets to hopefully save you more time so you can read my blog!

Samy Fat Hair "0" Calories Line Review

Samy Fat Hair "O" Calories line.jpeg
Samy's Fat Hair Line

Let me start with saying that I have thick, not fine hair that is layered in parts with some natural curl.  In the past I have used styling products that were geared for curls.  However, I have found that products for volume work even better for someone like myself with some natural curl  and wave in their hair to make the most of them.

I had the chance to test Samy's Fat Hair line up of hair care and styling for volume.  The Cosmopolitan Beauty Award winning shampoo of 2007 Thickening Shampoo  and Thickening Conditioner did not disappoint in de-tangling power and to give my hair gloss afterwards without any sulfates.  On my slightly damp hair, I went next with Samy's Fat Hair Amplifying Mousse on the layers around my face and at the ends.  This was magnificent for hair structure once I finally used my blow dryer and curling iron.

My long bangs are forceful and grow downward, which is constantly challenging.  I experimented with the Fat Hair Thickening Pomade and this was a great help keeping those bangs back and toward the side with just a slight feathering effect in the front.

I find that spraying a little hair spray after I style my hair with the curling iron or electric rollers help keep my style in place for the next morning.  I tried the Samy's Fat Hair Amplifying Hair Spray and liked that my hair still looked as full of sizeable curls as before I went to bed.

The next day I tried the Fat Hair Thickening Cream instead of the Amplifying Mousse and it gave me hold, but slightly less volume compared to the mousse.

I also decided to give Samy's Fat Hair Root Lifter Spray the ultimate test on my problem bangs.  In my experience, I had not much luck with trying to force my hair upward and back with much success--that is until I played with this particular product.  The Fat Hair Root Lifter Spray allowed me to plump up and keep some of my hair back to my surprise.  Seriously, my hair is like a river and flows in one direction.  Rivers like my hair do not change course.  However, this product helped change some of the flow into new hairstyle territory.

I know there are people that didn't care for the Fat Hair line.   However, I feel those that would buy a product like this for building volume have fine hair to start.   I think there is only so much that products can do for the head of hair that you are born with.  What I'm saying is if you tried these products with baby fine hair and were expecting the same thickness of volume that I got then I do not think you will find it.  With my type of thick, layered hair that is prone to some curl, these products worked exceptionally well for making most of  fullness and hold.

I can sincerely say I liked Samy's Fat Hair line for my type of hair and will continue using these products.  Do try to experiment yourself with some or all of them--and my particular favorite the Fat Hair Amplifying Mousee.

My Best Peanut Butter Pie Recipe

piece-of-peanut-butter-pie.jpeg
My Best Peanut Butter Pie is rich and so satisfying.

Peanut butter does not last long in my house.  My family is addicted to all varieties from crunchy, smooth, name brand or generic.  We love it so much that I love to make this creamy pie with a pudding like consistency to enjoy it further.  To give this recipe even more appeal, I top it with a meringue.

Here's my pie before meringue in the oil pie crust.
This is a simple pie any inexperienced baker can handle.  Make that same oil pie crust that I constantly urge you to try because it is the easiest recipe and always turns out flaky and tender.  I promise!

Trust me, but you are going to love this pie.

My Best Peanut Butter Pie

3 eggs, separated
2-1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
meringue-topped-peanut-butter-pie.jpeg1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 baked 10-inch pie crust

Take your eggs out and leave at room temperature so they will separate easily.

Prepare your pie crust first, poke the bottom of your crust lightly with a fork and then bake at 400 for about 10-15 minutes until lightly browned.   Let cool and begin working on your filling.

Use your whisk to mix your 3 egg yolks and the 2-1/2 cups milk together in your saucepan.  Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until warm.

Combine your 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup flour thoroughly in another mixing bowl until well combined.  Slowly add this sugar-flour mixture to the warming yolks and milk.  Keep stirring constantly while slowing adding more of that sugar-flour mixture until emptying that mixing bowl into the saucepan.  Cook this combined mixture until it thickens and bubbles.

Remove from the heat and stir in your 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla and mix through.

Pour the filling into your baked shell.  Either you enjoy your pie plain or top with meringue or your favorite whipped topping.  I like to make meringue and use up the 3 eggs whites.

My Meringue

Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to those egg whites and beat with your electric mixture on high until fluffiness sets in.  Gradually start adding 1/4 cup of sugar to those beaten whites very slowly while continuing to beat. (If you just dump the sugar in too quickly, you will make the meringue drop and turn it liquid.)

FACE atelier Cosmetics Ultra Camouflague Duet Dual Concealer Review

This concealer hides difficult problems.

Favored by stars like Madonna and on the set of True Blood, FACE atelier Cosmetics is a sophisticated line to beautify any woman regardless of age.  I never tried any of the FACE atelier products until I was sent their Ultra Camouflague Duet Dual Concealer to review in Light.

At first glance, I was worried about the darkness for this product being their lightest shade.  However, this is only an illusion because once I put my finger to it and applied the color when rubbed, this appeared lighter than expected.

The Ultra Camouflague Duet Dual Concealer spread easily enough without stretching delicate under eye skin with a fabulous silicone base.   It even went on smoother when I used it over my eye cream.  This concealer was  thick enough to cover the dark allergy circles that needed hiding without caking up, which is important to me when selecting this type of product.  Both shades in the compact were perfect to work with and complimented each other.
In fact, I dabbed into each and blended for even better coverage of the darkness.

This concealer was also wonderful for hiding one unwelcome blemish that showed up on my face this morning.  Often concealers for under eyes are the wrong consistency to handle the job, but I found FACE atelier's product worked in keeping that ugly bump my secret.

FACE atelier does not claim to be entirely natural, mineral, or an organic makeup line without any  preservatives.  Yet, the company does strive for simpler cosmetics and does not use fragrances or flavors or SPF in their products.  They only add what chemicals are necessary  to maintain a shelf life without sacrificing the quality of their products.  They are cruelty free and not tested on animals and recognized by PETA as a  Caring Consumer website.

You can connect with FACE atelier on their website, Facebook or on Twitter.
