Why You May Want to Avoid Volume-Building Shampoos After a Fresh Hair Coloring!

Formulations of shampoos do matter when you have fresh hair to think about.
It is always in your best interest to give freshly colored hair enough time to set before your first shampoo.  Some believe 48 hours is enough time. But the real truth is that it takes 72 hours for that cuticle layer to completely close to lock in that color.

Of course, it is always better to use products designed for color-treated hair to safeguard the color from rapid fading.  Nonetheless, I was always under the assumption that the only shampoo that could strip hair color was the clarifying variety with their stronger formulations.

However, I learned something the last time that I went to the salon. According my stylist, volume-building shampoos should be avoided as well because these also can speed up color fading since volumizers can open up the hair cuticle.

For more tips of how to extend the life of your hair coloring, I hope you read my earlier post on the subject because it may get you more time instead of running to your salon or drug store to revive that hair color.
