Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover Review

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover.jpeg
Here's an easier solution of how to handle those cuticles for a better manicure.

Despite using an orange stick to force the cuticles back, it can be tricky to avoid painting them at times when doing your manicure.  Therefore, I was curious how Sally Hansen’s Instant Cuticle Remover would work to solve that problem.

According to the package, the product is supposed to dissolve cuticles in 15 seconds once you squeeze some out and apply to the cleaned cuticle area and just beneath the nails.

With my clock in viewing range, I went ahead and gave myself the treatment.  My first thought was that it didn’t irritate like I had expected it might, which was a good thing.  Before I even realized it, it was already time to grab my orange stick again and start pushing them back. Already I was liking how much easier this product made that task for softening them.

After I washed my hands and dried, I noticed the residue of the cuticle the cloth picked up.

I really liked the simplicity of removing cuticles this way over just attempting to push back the cuticles when polishing the nails.  Trust me, but it is far less painful with Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover than the old-fashioned way of turning to your orange stick alone!  Check it out because you’ll be glad that you did.

Protect Your Skin From Upcoming Cold Weather!–Review: L’Occitane Certified Organic Pure Shea Butter and 15% Shea Butter Foot Cream Can Help

L'Occitane Shea Butter Cream and Foot Cream.jpeg
Dropping temperatures call for more intensive skin care solutions.  Are you prepared?

Summer is fading fast with colder fall weather soon on our doorstep.  Just like that changing season, our skin becomes drier and needs more lubrication as those temperatures drop if we intend to protect it.  The ideal way is satisfying that need by nourishing certified organic skin care like the ones I tried with L’Occitane’s Pure Shea Butter and Dry Skin 15% Shea Butter Foot Cream.

L’Occitane’s Certified Organic Pure Shea Butter ($42) is concentrated and fair-trade approved, which made me feel extra good about applying.  This cream also is jammed with vitamin E to boost its healing effectiveness.  Being as thick as it is, I didn’t need to use all that much for extra dry areas like elbows, lips, cuticles to notice improvement.  You can use this on the face, feet or even to smooth brittle hair, but I prefer saving this more for those tough rough spots for how this rich, intensive formula can handle it.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (Classic Ivory, Soft Beige) Review + Swatches!

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundations.jpeg
Classic Ivory is on the left with Soft Beige on the right.

With a new season approaching, you might be thinking of updating your cosmetics with fresh products like the new Rimmel Match Perfection Foundations I was sent.  The line of 14 shades has broad spectrum SPF 20 protection with a 24-hour moisture complex built into the formula to provide that coveted luminous look.

Unlike the European version, this drugstore liquid foundation does not have a pump dispenser once you lift that cap.  The colors I tried were Classic Ivory (light beige with a hint of pink) that was a nice shade for my fair warm complexion and Soft Beige (slightly darker warm beige), which would work more for contouring in my case.

Review: ODIN New York 12 Lacha Eau de Parfum--The New Unisex Luxury Fragrance for Fall 2016 That You Need to Try!

ODIN 12 Lacha perfume.jpeg
Prepare to journey to remote corners of the world to recapture the beauty of another time and place as only ODIN 12 Lacha can do.

When I was asked if I would be interested in working with fragrances from ODIN New York, I couldn’t resist plunging into new, uncharted fragrance territory with the cult-followed menswear brand and one of the newest additions to their FiFi Award-winning Black Line.  Yet, how does one describe such a complicated blend of woods and spices that make up 12 Lacha to illustrate its unique beauty as this unisex fragrance deserves?

From its opening, you are immediately lured into its rich opulence of colorful India as it takes your senses by storm with lacha saffron, black pepper and sweet nutmeg notes.  The powerful effect is heady and nearly intoxicating in the deep hold it exerts.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner Review

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Rimmel lip liner trio.jpeg
Colorless lip liners can save you money since there is no need to match them to lip products.

Bleeding lipstick or runaway lip gloss can happen when you neglect the extra step of lip liner. You could solve this preventable problem with a nude color that is close in shade to your natural lips.  Still, the most ideal method is matching the color of liner to the shade of lipstick or gloss that you’re wearing.  Yet, this could amount to buying quite a few different lip liners, which can run into money unless you went colorless like the one I tried from Rimmel with their Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner.

How to Choose the Most Flattering Eyeliner for Your Skin Tone

makeup artist doing a woman's eyes.jpeg
You'll appreciate how working with your skin tone can bring more emphasis to your eyes.

The Fall/Winter 2016-2017 eyeliner trend will be heavy on the black, ringing eyes dramatically with unmistakable thickness to creating extra wings.  Though black is the universal shade of liner that works for all, there always comes a time when you want to change the makeup look that you’re going for with one that is softer or just as bold through riveting color.

Therefore, a no-fail way is by selecting shades that compliment your skin tone rather than your eye color. For instance, if you have fair skin with cool undertones, I suggest experimenting with dark gray or cool brown shades over warmer versions for a wonderful change of pace.   Metallic liners, whether silver or gold, also are fantastic for bringing some striking emphasis to your eyes in a unique way.

Fair to medium skin with warm undertones like mine look great with bronze, brighter navy to royal blues, eggplant, and deep green eyeliner colors.

Dark complexions never seem to go wrong with bright, more vivid blues and turquoise for some beautiful contrast as well as golds and bronze for playing up their skin.

Try these suggestions yourself for a striking way to bring out those gorgeous eyes!

The Secret to Encouraging Faster Growing, Beautiful Hair!

hair cutting.jpeg
Just because that new cut looked great in a magazine doesn't always mean hair happiness, so know what to do.

Don’t you hate when you regret trying a new hair cut that you thought would look better than it does?   If so, you are not alone because most of us have done that at one time or another. Though you can’t paste hair back on, there are ways to spur your hair’s growing cycle that can help lessen the time that you have to live with that new style.

Since hair stems from living tissue, its health depends on the nourishment that you feed it from within your diet. When trying to encourage growth as well as improve condition, your food choices can either help or hinder your progress. Make sure to stock up on foods with omega-3 fatty acids, folate, antioxidants like vitamin E, protein, biotin, silica, zinc, vitamin D, selenium, magnesium, iodine, and iron can help.  Often, it is difficult to determine how much of those specific nutrients that you’re actually getting since our bodies all break down food differently.  Therefore, you might think of taking a supplement to insure that you’re getting enough.

Another suggestion is treating your hair more delicately than what you may have been doing.  Avoid brushing too vigorously.  What this does could backfire your efforts to stimulate circulation instead of helping it. Doing this pulls and stretches hair to the damaging point and causes split ends.  Though split ends won’t delay the hair from growing, they do give the impression of shorter length over straighter, undamaged strands.

The better way to get the blood moving of hair nutrients for delivering them where they need to go is by gently massaging your scalp with your fingers.  You don’t need to do this all that long, but just a few minutes is enough to do the trick.

Also, think of washing your hair less.  Changing daily shampooing can help limit rubbing and lathering that might cause you to shed more hairs, slowing down your progress.

Air drying your hair is also a good idea over using your hair dryer.  Harsh heat can weaken vulnerable hair and cause it to break, disrupting its growing cycle for less than healthy hair.

The same principle holds true regarding your hot styling tools for optimum hair health.  However, if your style depends on that flat iron, hot rollers, or curling iron, then use a heat protecting serum to play it safe.

Finally, skip gathering your hair into a tight ponytail or forcing your hair into a style that has a lot of pinning and pulling to get it so, is a bad idea.  Of course, it may be cooler in the summer or be a better style for what your hair is suffering, but it can also cause breakage and delay what you’re hoping to achieve with a healthier head.

I hope you check two of my earlier posts on hair growth nutrition in detail and another on additional hair growing tips because both can help you with this problem!

L’Occitane’s Aromachologie Refreshing Aromatic Deodorant Review

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Aromachologie Refreshing Aromatic Deodorant.jpeg
With all the health risks associated with aluminum compounds, you may want to switch from antiperspirant to deodorant.

With all the health concerns related to chemicals in the products we use, deodorant shouldn’t be one of them that we need to worry about.  Yet, aluminum compounds have been linked to breast cancer and possibly Alzheimer’s disease.  Therefore, you might be like me and want to swap out that riskier antiperspirant/deodorant for a safer natural deodorant like L’Occitane’s new Aromachologie Refreshing Aromatic Deodorant that I got to try.

This citrus scented product is a milky-colored roll-on that was very gentle when I put it to the test.  With its essential oils, this deodorant did keep me fresh through my normal day without letting me down.

If you’re looking to limit your health risk from antiperspirant/deodorants, I suggest visiting your local L’Occitane boutique or the company’s website and ordering Aromachologie Refreshing Aromatic Deodorant ($20).

If You Have Difficulty Falling Asleep, Try My DIY Sleep Spray!

sleeping woman with dog on sofa.jpeg
Hopefully now, this beauty will make it to bed for a more restful sleep.

Sometimes, it’s hard to fall asleep.  For those times, I turn to this wonderful recipe that helps induce sleep through aromatherapy and its relaxing blend of lavender and chamomile essential oils along with rosewater for doing the trick.

This spray won’t magically make you sleep, but once you spray a little of its soothing aroma, it has a very calming effect.  Before you know it, you do feel more in the mood to drift off.

Sure Bet Relief When Plagued by Puffy Eyes!

cucumbers.jpeg
You may already know about the value of cucumbers for this problem, but do you know how to intensify their deflating effect?

Puffy eyes are something that a lot of us experience from time to time.  Those undesired, pancake eyes can come from allergies, an upset that had you crying, partying too hard and overindulging with too many alcoholic drinks or glasses of wine, salting your food too much to just sleeping on your stomach with how it drains lymphatic fluid into the area.  Regardless of the contributing factor, puffy eyes are an ugly thing to wake up to.  However, you won’t need to suffer much longer once you try this simple puffy eyes fix.

Perhaps, you already heard about how helpful cucumber slices are for deflating eyes due to their antioxidants and flavinoids.  Yet, what if I told you that you can intensify the effect to get more powerful drainage?

A Few More Easy Ways to Look Younger!

smiling older woman.jpeg
This beauty can smile with confidence for what she learned for keeping the years away!

Aging is a natural part of life, but just because it happens doesn’t mean we need to settle for looking our true ages.  I already shared some quick ways to turn back the clock and another post with more anti-aging beauty secrets with you in earlier posts.  However, here are a few more suggestions that can help make you look younger.

The more that your face starts to give your age away, the more that you should think of lightening your hair color.  Your aim should be one or two shades lighter than the hair color that you were born for looking the most natural.  This easy to wear color change will soften your face and better distract attention from lines and creases.

Thicken Sparse Lashes With This Simple Makeup Trick!

woman applying mascara.jpeg
You'll be amazed at the extra lash thickness that you'll gain if you take my advice.

Not all of us are born with a heavy fringe of natural lashes.  Therefore, if you feel somewhat cheated and would love to bulk up your lashes, here is an easy way to plump them up using what you probably already have in your beauty bag.

First, you want to curl your lashes.  You’ll clamp the roots for a few seconds to prepare those lashes before releasing your hold.  Now change position and move your eyelash curler to the middle of the lashes and do the same thing before you’ll let go.  Finally, use the curler to give the lash tips several gentle squeezes will help lift them even more.

A Great Makeup Trick for Changing the Dimensions of Small Eyelids to Create More of An Eye Socket!

woman with small eyelids.jpeg
You find it is easier than you think to recreate the dimensions of your eye area.

We all have different beauty issues to deal with.  However, if you are not satisfied with the look of your eyes because you feel the lids are too small, then cheer up because there is an easy fix for changing the dimensions of your eyes to enlarge them.  What I am going to show you will create the illusion of more depth in the eye socket area instead of being so hidden.

You may find it helpful to shape your eyebrows first.  Give them a gentle arch, remove straggly hairs and fill in what you need to with brow powder, brow gel or a pencil to give the brows a clean look, which is important for framing the eyes.

How to Better Preserve the Integrity of Your Skin Care Products!

cotton swabs.jpeg
You may want to stock up on cotton swabs after you read this!

With the amount of money that we invest in our skin care regimes, we want to make sure the formulas of those pricey products don’t break down prematurely.  Therefore, I am going to show you a few tricks to better protect those products in the healthiest state possible so you can keep on using them safely.

Once you open a jar of skin cream, you are introducing the product to bacteria from the air and then your fingers when you apply.  If you want to minimize contamination, then I suggest skip dipping your fingers in.   Instead, load up a pretty container with a package of cotton swabs to keep on your vanity for this purpose. Using a fresh cotton swab is far more sanitary than fingers for keeping your skin care products germ-free.

Another thing that I like to do is refrigerate my products, especially during the heat of summer.  Just remember that the hotter it is, the faster those formulations can deteriorate.  This is especially true for water-based products.  Thus, the best way to safeguard those creams, lotions or serums is to keep them cold for sustaining the life of the product.

By making these two simple changes to how you apply and store your skin care, you will improve its shelf-life and the beauty of your complexion with less chance of using any tainted products!

How to Get More Skin Help From Your Moisturizers Regardless of Complexion Type!

smiling businesswoman with perfect skin.jpeg
You'll be smiling too once you tweak your moisturizing routine and power it up.

Every complexion has special needs if you want it to look its best.  Therefore, you want to keep your skin happy by moisturizing it with a plan suited to your individual complexion type instead of just slathering on a product or a method that could be delaying beautiful results.

If you have a dry complexion like mine, you’ll boost the power of your moisturizer before you apply by simply leaving your freshly washed face slightly damp or giving it a light spray with rosewater first.  Once you do this, you will be allowing the moisturizer to lock the water into the skin far better than you may imagine for superior hydration.

How to Get More Enjoyment Out of Life When You’re Stressed!

stress relief sign.jpeg
Instead of letting stress detour you, stay on track and follow the road to bliss!

Even the happiest, most well-adjusted people despite wealth, success, power, position, or beauty that you may think have everything going for them gets stressed at times.  That perfect life that you may envy has up and downs too because no one is immune from problems.  The only difference is each one of us have different ones.  However, instead of letting stress keep you prisoner and force you to therapy or medicate, I have a few ideas to help get your smile back.

My first suggestion is give yourself something to look forward to at least one day a week.  Regardless of a heavy workload that may even have you working weekends like myself or constantly overtime, setting aside at least two hours of time that you know will be waiting for you for relaxation is important.  Something as simple as renting the latest DVD movie that you didn’t have the time to go see can lift a bleak mood.

Some Helpful Tips for Those With Allergy-Prone or Sensitive Eyes When Considering Eye Cosmetics

brown eyeshadow palette.jpeg
You might be surprised that colors and textures matter for safeguarding your eyes as much as they do for beautifying them.

Having allergies or an eye condition can make your eyes more sensitive than others with tearing, itching or redness.  If your eyes are prone to easily irritating like mine, then let me share some helpful advice when shopping for new eye cosmetics.

Try to avoid ingredients that often trigger a reaction.  Perfumes, parabens, and certain FD & C colors, chemicals, and preservatives, especially ones releasing formaldehyde are known to irritate some people more than others.  However, this does not mean that your eyes are totally safe if you stick with ones labeled hypoallergenic or turn to mineral makeup.

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer With Calming Green Tea Oil Review

Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer.jpeg
This award-winning product does not disappoint!
If you are hoping to seal in moisture for maximum body lubrication, I tried a new body moisturizer from Jergens that gave my skin the perfect finishing touch for hydrating after my shower with their Wet Skin Moisturizer With Calming Green Tea Oil.  This product won the breakthrough award from Allure Magazine in 2015 and is worth your attention for several reasons.

First of all, you don’t need to use very much once you apply to damp skin.  Start with about a dime size per arm and use a little bit more for rubbing over legs and the rest of you is enough for making the skin feel silky.

The Wet Skin Moisturizer didn’t make me feel greasy or sticky even later through my day.  This is important to me, especially in this hot weather.

The fragrance of Calming Green Tea Oil was a fresh, light scent that also was pleasant for summer without overpowering the senses.

Finally, you got to appreciate the reasonable price.  Depending on where you shop, you can expect to pay around $6.99 for a generous 10 fl. oz. bottle.  You can’t beat all those positive points.  I say look for Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer With Calming Green Tea Oil or the other varieties because it performs!

Why All Makeup Sponges Aren’t Created Equally!

beauty blender.jpeg
The smooth construction of a beauty blender guarantees a more flawless finish.

Some of us prefer to put our makeup on with brushes or sponges for the best delivery of our liquid and cream cosmetics.  However, if sponges are you favorite tools, then you should be aware that you’ll get superior results using a non-latex makeup sponge or beauty blender over the latex variety.

The reason the non-latex sponge or a beauty blender is a better choice is due to the smoother construction, which won’t be so absorbing of the product compared to the latex.   You also can be safer from the chance of developing a latex allergy, if your skin happens to be on the sensitive side.

I happen to use both brushes and a beauty blender, depending on what look that I’m trying to do and the amount of time that I have to do my makeup.  I found the egg-like shape of the beauty blender is ideal for getting into small areas from doing concealer to overall blending without much effort or dirtying so many brushes.  Afterwards, you just have one product to wash instead of several makeup brushes.  I also happen to think a beauty blender holds up better to wear than a cheaper bag of latex or non-latex sponges, which you would want to dispose of after use.

Why Diabetics Might Want to Avoid Epsom Salt and Other Foot Soaks!

feet in bed.jpeg
Diabetics and others with circulation problems have special issues that need to be taken into consideration in order to keep feet healthy.

When my feet are killing me, I often use Epsom salt in some of my foot baths to soothe pain.  However, if you have diabetes or any circulation issues that make you prone to open sores, you might be want to avoid long, hot soaks and Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)  in particular to bathe your feet in to keep them their healthiest.

The reason Epsom salt can make a problem worse is because magnesium sulfate is overly drying for the already dry skin that often accompanies a diabetic condition.

Instead, you are safer to just wash your feet with unscented soap and lukewarm water before drying and following up with moisturizing lotion all over the feet with the exception of lubricating between the toes.

Diabetics are often low on magnesium, which could help with sugar and cholesterol levels.  Nonetheless, before you start self-treating with a magnesium supplement or mixing with your medications, please seek the advice of your physician.

swatch of Rimmel Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil.jpeg
Notice the flattering champagne shimmer from my swatch.
This is a creamy pencil that glides on the brow bone easily for added impact through its soft gold shimmer illumination.  Though it is advertised mainly for that area, I also found it helpful for other face highlighting as well.  Being easy to blend, I liked how it worked for bringing light for the nose to mouth creases to the corners of the mouth to the center of the nose and middle of the chin.

You’ll like all that you can do with this Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil.  Check it out wherever you shop for Rimmel London products!

Are You Confused About How to Pick Out the Proper Clay Mask for Your Skin Type?

oriental woman.jpeg
This beauty now has a better appreciation in what a clay mask can do for her complexion.

Most of us associate a clay mask for help drawing out the impurities and zapping excessive oil deeply imbedded in oily skin. Nonetheless, I found using a lesser strength formula with a dry complexion is just as important for extracting any accumulated grime and makeup that can be lingering just as it would be for a normal skin type. However, there is a trick to deciphering clays in order to make the best selection based on your skin type that you should be aware of.

If you have oily skin or tend to break out, then you need powerful clay such as bentonite, Fuller’s Earth, French green or rhassoul.  Any of these in the mask formula that you are considering will help absorb the most oil and give your skin the deepest clean.

Of course, you can have dry skin like mine.  Being the case, look for ingredients like rhassoul or white kaolin clays.  Those are the gentlest varieties of clay that won’t overly irritate sensitive skin, if used occasionally.  I use one every two or three weeks and keep it on for about 10-12 minutes, which is enough time for it to dry and do its job.

Then again, you may have a normal complexion.  If so, you can be comfortable and have great results with any clay formula regardless of the particular variety.

Hopefully, you’ll be better prepared for your next shopping trip on understanding the varieties of clay and what it could mean for your skin type.  The wrong clay could explain why you may not have had any success, but now you’ll know your perfect clay that will gently exfoliate, tighten pores and absorb as much or as little oil as you need when cleaning out those pores.

Are You Using the Right Type of Exfoliants to Best Safeguard Your Complexion?

woman's partial face.jpeg
This beauty now understands the value of  the best exfoliation methods.

Exfoliation is an important step toward the goal of beautiful skin.  The reason you should never neglect it is because when you don’t remove dead cells every so often, they accumulate on the surface to produce a dull complexion.  Shedding the old cells stimulates fresh skin to emerge for a younger, more radiant complexion. Still, if you don’t want to damage your skin, then you need to careful of the product but also how often that you exfoliate.

My DIY Tranquility Bath Is a Healing Escape to Promote Relaxation!

woman picking lavender.jpeg
Lavender is soothing, but this herb has a variety of  wonderful uses.

When life seems to get the better of me, I always have a found comfort in a soothing herbal bath helps bring on inner peace.  I had thought that I shared this particular recipe, but apparently did not when I was trying to find it among my old posts.  Therefore, let me reveal it to you now since its aromatherapy benefits of lavender, rose, chamomile, mints, and the eucalyptus is very restorative for the way it purifies the mind while easing the muscles.
