Save Your Winter Wardrobe From Moths With These Homemade Natural Repellants!

You are probably cleaning those winter clothes and ready to store them away until next year.  If you hate using those foul-smelling mothballs or crystals, then you are not alone.  They are disgusting and conjure up memories of the past when a friend used to radiate that strong toxic aroma with every sweater he wore all through college.  Regardless of his cologne, the sickly smell of those mothballs would linger.

However, there are better ways to keep those vulnerable wool items safe from the destruction of moths without offending delicate noses.  Besides cedar or cedar chips, you have some other sweet smelling options.  You could use whole cloves, which is a wonderful deterrent.

Those that like to garden should think of planting these two perennials: lavender and rosemary to dry.  Though both are fragrant, you get double duty with being able to season your food with the rosemary as well.

Another interesting aid in the battle against moths comes in the form of saving orange peels and drying them.

For those handy with thread and needle, you might want to sew pretty sachet packets to hang around the clothes or to leave inside with the items. You could also improvise.  Use a piece of thin material about the size of a hankerchief and tie.

Whatever option you go with is better than those toxic mothballs and crystals for your lungs, the environment, and those expensive woolens those pesky insects always seem to find!

Reviva Labs DMAE Anti-Aging Product and Light Skin Peel

As always, I am on the hunt for the best products to share with you.  Today, I want to tell you about my latest discovery in the battle against aging with DMAE related products from Reviva Labs.

DMAE is naturally occurring and works as an antioxidant membrane stabilizer.  According to the research that I read, DMAE is the first proven ingredient to actually have some positive effect on facial sagging.  Being curious, I had to see for myself if those claims were justified.  You may want to read this review carefully because what I am about to introduce you to will make you look at least five years younger or maybe more!

Before I started with the Reviva Lab's DMAE regime, I wanted to see how their #107 Light Skin Peel Exfoliant performed to shed the dead layers of my skin before applying the two creams and eye cream I was about to test.  According to the directions, this product is meant to be used once a week.

Unlike some skin peel treatments that you dab on with a cotton ball, this #107 Light Skin Peel is a cream that I applied to my freshly washed face.  I did not wash it off.  Instead, I let it dry for about five or ten minutes.  This is an extremely gentle peel that tightens the complexion and did not cause any redness.  When it was time to remove this product, I used my fingers to rub it off over my sink.  What I was left with was the smoothest skin you could possibly imagine, which was the perfect environment for deeper penetration with those DMAE products.

The next morning I started my experiment.  I dabbed and softly patted the delicate skin around my eye about five times as directed with the creamy white #368 DMAE Alpha Lipoic Acid & Vitamin C Ester Firming Eye Serum first.  I used this quickly absorbing and non-greasy product mornings and nights.

Here's my routine.  In the mornings, I followed with the Reviva Labs #302 Peptides & More Anti-Wrinkle Cream and switched it out at nights with #366 Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream.

The first day I worked with these products I could feel something happening on my face.  I guess this was my skin becoming acquainted with the products and it was only temporary.  The next day, however, that initial feeling on my skin was gone.  This was not discomfort just the very slightest tingle that you knew it was there.

I have been using these new Reviva Labs products a few weeks now.  And honesty, I tell you I do look at least five years younger than before I started.  You may think this is bunch of hype but I have two wrinkles at the sides of my cheeks that are virtually erased.  I have only the finest two lines now.  Furthermore, the fine creasing around my eyes firmed up as well.  Overall, my skin tone looks healthier with a more refined texture and a remarkable renewed radiance that is truly amazing.

I know a friend that had Botox done.  She had herself injected with this poison just to look younger.  The truth was her cheeks where it was injected gave her an unrealistic appearance.  Her wrinkles were totally gone with no evidence of even any faint line.  Instead her cheeks were puffed out and looked hard like marble.  So why risk your health with an expensive procedure that needs to done on a regular basis when you can use these excellent DMAE alternatives?

I have tried lots of great anti-aging products on my face.  But the results I got from this grouping far exceeded my expectations when it comes to truly looking younger.  I am being sincere, readers, Reviva Labs knows what they're doing and you owe it to yourself to try these for yourself.  You will thank me later for telling you about this!

To give you a clue, I am so hooked on Reviva Labs DMAE products that I definitely want to try the #301 DMAE Firming Serum soon for comparison to that #366 Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester & DMAE Cream.

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  All I received were free products to facilitate this review.*

My Favorite Marinated Rice Salad Is Perfect To Serve at Your Barbecue!

If you never tried a marinated rice salad, then you have been missing out on something delicious.  This salad is a fantastic change from the typical green leafy version and is especially wonderful to serve with the hot weather.   In fact, I plan to make this for our barbecue this Memorial Day because it is always a hit with guests.

Make this ahead of time so the flavors have a chance to mingle and develop fully into this absolute glory before it's time to eat.

You can add some radishes to this or a few chopped, hard-boiled eggs, and a stick or two of celery if you want a different twist.  Sometimes, I  like to sneak in some red pepper flakes as well  if you want to fire up the tastebuds.

One thing I want to mention is to have a few index cards or paper and pen within reach once your company  tastes this rice salad.  It never fails that you will need to jot this recipe down for at least one or two of them before they leave--so be prepared for compliments and sharing!

My Favorite Marinated Rice Salad

7 medium-size tomatoes (cored and cut into small pieces)
1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon of dried basil or 1/3 cup of fresh basil (if available--chopped)
3 cups of cooked white rice or brown rice
1 green pepper (seeded and chopped small)
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 cucumbers (pared, halved, and diced)
3/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup of olive oil
10 green onions, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

Clean and prepare the vegetables and herbs while the rice cooks.  After everything is cooked and chopped, mix all the ingredients together and refrigerate covered for at least an hour.

My Spice Cake Recipe Will Drive You Crazy With Pleasure!

piece of Spice Cake Supreme.jpeg
My Spice Cake Supreme is bursting with flavor!

Today, I have a great cake recipe to share with you.  This is a wonderful homemade spice cake that can be made into a layer cake or sheet cake.  Without any special fancy ingredients like cake flour, this delicious recipe turns out a light and moist cake comparable to any commercial mix.

This recipe calls for sour milk or buttermilk.  If you don't have any on hand, do not fret, dear readers.  Measure out your cup of milk and return two tablespoons.  Instead measure out two tablespoons of lemon juice and add to the measured milk.  The lemon juice curdles that sweet milk and works nicely in this recipe.

Frost with your favorite white vanilla or cream cheese icing and you will really enjoy this simple cake!

My Spice Cake Supreme
plain spice cake supreme.jpeg
This cake is moist and delicious.

2 tablespoons of molasses (dark or light)
2 cups of light brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 cup margarine (not spread) or vegetable shortening
2 eggs
2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1 cup of sour milk or buttermilk

Beat the sugar and  the margarine with your electric mixer until well creamed.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.

Sift together all the dry ingredients and keep in a separate mixing bowl.

Alternate small amounts of the dry ingredients along with the sour milk, beating well after each addition.  Try to end with the milk as your last ingredient to keep your cake extra moist.

Grease two-9 inch layer cake pans or a 9" x 13" sheet cake pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes for the sheet cake or 25-30 minutes for the layer cake.  Test with a toothpick to see if it is done.

Kenra Professional Hair Styling Products Review--Part Two

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Kenra Platinum Working Wax 15, Boosting Spray-Foam 17, Shine Serum, Volum Spritz Spray 25.jpeg
Kenra Platinum Working Wax 15, Boosting Spray-Foam 17, Shine Serum, Volum Spritz Spray 25

I am becoming spoiled now that I have discovered Kenra Professional.  After I had sampled a few items from this company and saw how much easier their hair styling products made to my difficult head of hair, I kept wanting to experiment with more.   You see I had to know if I had just been lucky with my choices or come across a truly exceptional line.  And let me assure you once I finished, I was further impressed.  All four of these new products I worked with for this review went beyond the call of duty!

Listen up, because you are not going to want to be without Kenra Shine Serum. This stuff can really deliver a radical shine.   I applied a small amount to my damp hair before the styling products.  You can also use this product on dry hair as well if you want to give your hair super shine.

I followed with their Kenra Platinum Working Wax 15 to my long, feathered bangs that I wear to the side.  They like to spite me, being forceful and down growing, just to make my life that much more pleasant unlike those of you that I envy with a normal head.  Therefore, waxes and texturizing putty type products are the only things strong enough to do battle with my hair.  I worked a little in and then reached for another product.

The Kenra Platinum Boosting Spray-Foam 17 was the product I used next.  This protects your hair from heat from your blow dryer and curling irons, builds volume, and hold all in one product.  I applied some with special attention to my layers and then finally was ready for my blow-dryer and curling iron.

When I finally finished styling, I was beyond thrilled at the look of my hair.  My hair had tremendous shine, incredible fullness and hold.  I turned my head and giggled watching the bouncy curls and stared in amazement at how obedient my warrior bangs were suddenly, retreating to the side.  Despite those styling products, the touch was soft instead of sticky or hard, which I am pleased to report.

Since rain was predicted in the forecast, I didn't want to risk my newfound loveliness.  Therefore,  I grabbed my last product the non-aerosol Kenra Volume Spritz Spray 25 and gave myself a finishing spray.

Regardless of the humidity and brushing later in the day, my hair style stayed gloriously perfect without drooping.  I really am a fan now of this company and definitely will be wanting more!

If these products can handle serious hair problems like what I have to suffer with, then I know help is only a click away for whatever your own hair needs happen to be.  Do visit Kenra Professional  and do yourself a favor by picking some up.

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  All I received were free products to facilitate this review.*

My Influenster Spring, 2012 Beauty VoxBox Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Influenster Spring, 2012 Beauty VoxBox.jpeg
Influenster Spring, 2012 Beauty VoxBox

Recently, I was selected to receive my first Influenster VoxBox to review.  I was lucky enough to be chosen to work with the Spring Beauty VoxBox of exciting products.  These included Sheer Cover Duo Concealer, Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash, ChapStick Lip SHIELD 365, Sally Hansen Salon Effects, Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist, a SOYJOY Bar, and a bonus product of Dr. Scholl’s For Her Ball of Foot Cushions.

What better way to celebrate spring and warmer weather than with a spritz of one of the new Bath & Body Works Fine Signature Fragrance Mists from their new fine fragrance mist collection of twenty exquisite scents like their award-winning Sweet Pea scent I found in my box.  This is a truly gorgeous fruity-floral  that is soft and yet beckons with top notes of luscious sweet pea, watery pear, logan berry, and rhubarb.  Your senses will detect a gentle stirring of more floral as the scent warms with freesia and cyclamen settling among juicy raspberries.  As the scent dries down, it is innocent but seductive at the time with creamy musk in an aloe nourishing formula.

Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium was another item included in my goodie box. This concealer is sold in a one-month supply kit of six products with three bonus extras for $29.95. The two mineral makeup- based shades looked darker and more orange in the container than what I normally use.  However, these two shades did a remarkable job  to banish my dark under eye circles when I applied them on my light skin without caking into those fine lines or creases.  This also was excellent for covering a small spot I had on my face and blended well when I dusted some loose powder over it.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects is the perfect salon-look finish for your nails that does hold up for days, almost a week for me, without any damage.  If you always chip and hate all the time you spend redoing your fingernails, then this is the way to go without that fuss or mess.  I got to experiment with the #210 Frock Star, which lit up my nails with glittering speckles of pink, green, blue, red, and yellow against silver.  All you do is peel off the top clear protective coat, and then the bottom protective adhesive before attaching to your nails.  These strips  come in forty shades of real nail polish.  They are a bit long so you might want to cut them in half and get double duty of that pack.

To keep me going through all my rigorous testing, I found a nutritious, all-natural Soyjoy Bar of fruit and soy for energy.  I got mine in Blueberry and enjoyed it more knowing it was only 140 calories and a healthier sweet option than higher calorie alternatives.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash was also inside my beauty bounty.  This was a great moisturizing way to wash away my day with a refreshing light fragrance in a soap-free formula of colloidal oatmeal.  It lathered up nicely and is hypoallergenic and dye-free as well to make it extra gentle.

ChapStick Lip SHIELD 365 was field tested in the hot sun for an entire Saturday when I went to the flea market searching for treasures.  With antioxidants CoQ10 and Vitamin E, this formula felt wonderful on my lips and had that needed SPF 50 protection from UVA/UVB rays.

Dr. Scholl’s For Her Ball of Foot Cushions was just what I needed to stop the pain I was having in my new heels.  This cushion prevented my foot from sliding forward and fixed me right up!

I must admit I had a blast testing out each one.  I found both some fantastic new products to better my life or some wonderful old friends that were tweeked up to make them even better.  Seriously though, I recommend checking each of these products out!

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  No money was exchanged.  I received free products from Influenster to facilitate this review.*

My Favorite Coconut Oatmeal Cookies Recipe Is a Way to Spread Happiness

eggs-and-cookie-baking-supplies.jpeg
Coconut, oatmeal and lots of love goes into this cookie recipe.

I couldn't let the weekend go by without baking.  However, I had a hard time deciding what exactly in the goodie line I was the mood to create.  Since I was torn between making a coconut cream pie or something with oatmeal, I combined those two wonderful flavors and settled on my favorite coconut oatmeal cookies recipe.

This is a delicious chewy cookie that you can sink your teeth into and savor with a coffee or even dunk in a glass of cold milk.  You can make it plain as given or fancy it up with some chopped nuts and raisins, if desired.   The recipe that I'm going to share with you makes a nice sized batch so even if the husband and the kids strike there will still be plenty of them left for you, the mere baker, to still enjoy.

So the next time you get an urge and can't decide what you want to bake, I hope you try these cookies.

My Favorite Coconut Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup of shortening
1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar (light or dark)
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of vanilla
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
2-1/2 cups flaked coconut
2 cups of oatmeal (old-fashioned or quick)
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup of chopped nuts
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Cream your shortening and sugars together.

Add eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, and mix.

Add flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda sifted together to the creamed mixture.

Add coconut and oatmeal.  You might want to use your wooden spoon instead of the mixture at this stage to mix through.  Shape into small balls.

Place your balls on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake in a 375-degree oven for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly brown or when a small knife or toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

ENJOY!

Change Up Plain Potatoes With My Herb Seasoned Oven French Fries!

Who can resist that wonderful sensation of eating French Fries?  Maybe it's that plunge those potatoes take into all that fat-laden grease that make them so tasty.  Yet despite all those unwanted calories and not to mention this form of cooking is less than healthy, I am just as addicted as most to savoring that sinfully delicious serving of French Fries.

However, I must be truthful here.  I gave up eating the traditional version of French Fries in favor of a healthier version that is surprisingly very good.  Before you crinkle your nose and disregard how less grease could possibly turn out a delicious alternative, then give the substitute that I shared with you in an earlier post for low calorie oven French Fries a shot.

The recipe that I have for you now is a bit fancier with some spices and Dijon Mustard to give it extra zest.

Either recipe requires only three tablespoons of olive oil to about four to six medium-size potatoes instead of drowning them in a pot of oil.  Trust me, you will smile when you think of all those extra calories can save and put to go use later when you indulge with your sweets over the weekend!

Another great thing I like about oven fries is how easy they are to make without risk of burning yourself if you attempt making French Fries at home.

So what do you have to lose except artery-clogging grease and calories?  You could possibly gain a new favorite form of the same yummy thing.  With that said, I dare you to be daring and open yourself up to a healthier switch,

My Herb Seasoned Oven French Fries

2 tablespoons of Dijon Mustard
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 large clove of garlic, chopped fine (1 teaspoon of garlic powder can be used, but fresh is best)
1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
4-6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut like French Fries (fine slices work too)

Mix everything  together in a 3-quart size mixing bowl until well combined.

Turn the coated potatoes onto a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan.

Bake at 425 degrees for about 35 minutes or until the potatoes are done.

Get Some Beauty Inspiration From My Rimmel London Cosmetics Review and Make Heads Turn!

Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadows.jpeg
Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadows

Spring is a great time to reinvent yourself.  With some of the exciting new cosmetics that I was sent from Rimmel London to review, this can be your time to blossom!  You'll love these shades that are perfect for now and will work for practically everyone once the weather warms up more and you tan.

Their Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadows are meant to create a sensation with bold, highly pigmented shades like 006 Purple Reign, 001 Black Cab, 004 Green Park, 005 English Rose, and 003 Royal Blue.  They appear darker in the containers than when applied.  On the eyes, they really rock with gorgeous shimmer and no glitter in a velvety powder that adheres to your lids for most of the day without the need for any primer.

As you might have noticed, these Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadows have a Union Jack design.  On the bottom of the container, you have numbered directions on where to put the crease color, lid, highlight, and corner like a makeup artist.

Turn it up a notch and try mixing colors dry or wet, especially those smaller portions of that flag, and flaunt daring shades.  You can get smokier or bolder, but you definitely will have fun playing with these shadows.  I really love the intensity of color and shades for each of those five compacts I received.

And to tell the truth, I am at a loss as to which one is my favorite for my dark brown eyes since they all had slightly a different way to make my eyes stand out.  Perhaps, English Rose made my eyes pop most.  Then again, Purple Reign made my eyes appear almost black.  Green Park warmed and lit the brown almost with gold-green light.  Still, the Royal Blue was more a  teal grayish-green than a blue with a near navy crease and black corner color that when blended did wonders for drawing attention to my eyes.  Black Cab was dramatic and super for nights with shades of silver, gray, and haunting black.  In my opinion, these shades are irresistible for what beautiful things they can do and would dress up any eyes, regardless of color.

I got to try out one of the new award-winning Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks that are pigmented with Black Diamond Pigment Complex in #15.  From the photo, you might think this is a murky gray-brown purple.  However, this is only an illusion because once you spread that shade on your mouth it changes delightfully to become sheer, light brownish-maroon, glimmering with a bit of speckles.  This is more of a natural type of color and went well with my light skin while it lasted for a good four hours or so before I needed to reapply.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick and Stay Glossy Long Lasting Lip Gloss trio.jpeg
Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick and trio of Stay Glossy Long Lasting Lip Glosses

Later I tried the Stay Glossy Long Lasting Lip Glosses I was sent in 160 My Rose (a light rose pink), 730 So Fabulous (a sandy beige-peach), and 260 My Eternity (a soft mauve-plum).  These really delivered the shine with color and stayed put for hours.  This trio is just what you would like to wear especially once you're sporting a tan.

I wanted to see what kind of job their Match Perfection Foundation in 130 True Ivory  would do on my face with its' smart-tone technology that uses Blue Sapphire to mimic skin tone.  This formula also has SPF 15 protection.  Unlike some ivory shades, 130 contains more light beige than pink when I compared it to my other foundations.  This made me happy before I even applied because I am more light beige than ivory.

The color did match my light-warm complexion nicely.  I noticed this formula did not settle into my pores like some others I had tried at times.  Match Perfection Foundation felt light and gave velvety coverage just as well as higher end department store brands I had also worn.

Next, I patted on some of their new Stay Matte Pressed Powder that contains minerals in 003 Natural.  This was an excellent color choice and it adhered to foundation for a beautiful finish.  This powder did keep the oil away for quite a while all through the morning till lunch when I applied some just to my nose.

I also was send Rimmel's new Match Perfection Blush in 003 Medium.  This was a big hit with me with a way to customize three tones of pink-plum using their smart-tone technology again with Blue Sapphire for more realistic and true radiance.

Look just as good as any department store counterpart with these products and pocket the rest of the money you'll save for some pretty shoes or something.  I know that I will be buying more.

I do hope you liked my take on Rimmel London's new beauty goodies to glam you up--because I don't know how I survived without some of these products until now!

Kenra Professional Hair Styling Products Review--Part One

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray, Clear Paste 20, Volume Mousse Extra 17 and Volume Spray 25 hair products.jpeg
Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray, Clear Paste 20, Volume Mousse Extra 17 and Volume Spray 25 hair products

Trying to achieve beautiful hair can take work.  The problem can be complicated if your hair happens to have its own set of unique quirks--like yours truly.  However, I have been testing some truly wonderful Kenra Professional hair styling products that I want to share with you because I am confident they will help put a smile of your face.

The first thing I did after washing my hair was to test Kenra's Platinum Blow-Dry Spray on my still damp hair.  This was more than just a heat protection spray from that damage your blow dryer can cause.  This product can help reduce your drying time as well.  Furthermore, this will come in handy if you have a frizz problem when humidity is high--like those of us with some natural curl will appreciate.

I happen to be cursed with forceful down growing bangs and some stubborn natural curl that you need to fight if you want it to go in the right direction instead of sticking out to taunt you.  So severe a hair obstacle like this requires heavy duty hair products.  When I tried the Kenra Clear Paste 20, I got the strong styling power I needed to keep this long sweep of bangs back with lots of shine and moveable flexible hold.  In addition, this texturizing paste didn't make my hair look dirty and weighed with product either!

Since I have some layers to take advantage of my natural curl, I tried the Kenra Volume Mousse Extra 17 (Firm Hold Fixative) next.  I worked about two  small puffs through the rest of my hair and grabbed by ceramic styling brushes and blow dryer to finish drying.

What I discovered when I was through styling was a head of beautiful hair.  Those impossible bangs of mine behaved and felt soft, which often to have control like that would make them feel hard almost like I used glue instead of a product.  Believe it or not, my curls sprang up to their full glory that I skipped that extra step of using my curling iron.

After I stopped admiring myself, I reached for the Kenra Volume Spray 25 (Super Hold Finishing Spray) to keep everything perfect.  This product is beyond awesome because my hairstyle was preserved without drooping even when I went out shopping and got caught in the rain.  I can see how this won eight awards for favorite hairspray, including this 2012 as the Stylist Choice Award Winner from behindthechair.com.

Honestly, if these styling products can solve my hair nightmares, then I know they can help you too.  I really recommend visiting Kenra and discovering these and their other products because they can give you gorgeous hair to be proud of.

I really love this line and will tell you about more Kenra soon--and hopefully what you read will help you too!

Beauty Forte Mineral Sunscreen and Mineral Whitening Review + Giveaway!--Ends June 4, 2012

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Beauty Forte Mineral Sunscreen and Mineral Whitening.jpeg
Beauty Forte Mineral Sunscreen and Mineral Whitening

When I was approached to review Beauty Forte's Mineral Sunscreen and Mineral Whitening, I was not hesitant because I believe in taking precautions when it comes to the sun to prevent skin cancer and dark, shriveled skin like a prune.  The idea of avoiding chemicals always appeals to me if I can do the same thing in a healthier way.

Instead of any lotion or spray, this company's products come in a powder form with an attached sponge.  This is a fantastic idea to look fresher and yet with a bit of coloring compared to other forms.  Their line is waterproof so you need not worry about melting away that protection because they do adhere nicely when outside for a few hours.  Furthermore, these sunscreens are hypo-allergenic without any talc, parabens, oils, phthalates, preservatives, synthetic colorants, petroleum byproduct or any artificial additives or unnecessary fillers that often come in commercial sunscreens to cause sensitive individuals a problem.

I found their Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 30 gave my face a beautiful appearance once I got it out of the jar with velvety coverage with the vitamins E and A enriched formula that matched my skin tone perfectly.   I was happy with the look and didn't have to wear makeup except for some gloss.  And yet, I was outdoor ready with natural sunscreen defense with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide for broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.  It was wonderful being protected without any greasiness or caking when I tested going shopping.

The Mineral Whitening in Light has SPF 25.  This form of their sunscreen gives your complexion a light sheen as it coats to your skin and hides imperfections in the process.  Your face gains a beam of softness from this form of their pearly powder sunscreen.  This product stayed on nicely as well when I tried it on another day while running errands.

Both Beauty Forte's sunscreens were gentle and perfect for the amount of time I was in the sun.  The only criticism I have is with their containers to get the product out.  Before attempting to apply their sunscreens, you need to remove the inner seal and then give it brisk shaking and some hard taps.  The powder can be a little stubborn to get out, but you need to keep working at it.

However, I did run into a problem with Mineral Whitening.  Regardless of how I kept working at it, the powder would not filter through the holes to the sponge.  The solution I had was to get a clean makeup brush and dust  on from the bottom of the container, which worked nicely.

For protection and beautiful coverage without harmful chemicals, I think you can't go wrong. Do check their website for these products.

Balance Bar Father's Day BARE Hug Gift Set for giveaway.jpeg
Balance Bar Father's Day BARE Hug Gift Set

How about if I tell you I know the ideal gift to treat your dad or the man in your life for Father's Day?  Unlike another necktie or shirt that will eventually end up in the back of his closet or purposely lost, perhaps, tucked away in the sock drawer, I have a better idea.  Show him some true love with a delicious and nutritious assortment of Balance Bars like sweet and salty BARE bars that will recharge his energy like the ones I reviewed for this Balance Bar Father's Day Gift Set.

These BARE bars have some crunch with nuts atop a sweet coated bottom of pure delight like Sweet & Salty Peanut Butter, Blueberry Acai, and the Sweet & Salty Chocolate Almond.  You would think that the two tastes would interfere with each other, however, they are perfect compliments.  Even though I am quite taken with Balance Bar Double Chocolate Brownie since it is scrumptious like a candy bar only better for you with vitamins, minerals, and protein to keep you going, I am now also hooked on this Sweet & Salty Chocolate Almond, my favorite of this trio.

If you think these are just other nutrition/energy bars, then you would be sorely mistaken.  Each BARE Balance bar is only 200 calories, but provides a whooping 15 grams of protein, up to 5 grams of fibers and 7 grams of whole grains along with 19 vitamins and minerals in a natural organic agave and brown rice syrup that will help stabilize blood sugar levels as well satisfying hunger when in a rush.

I really do eat and recommend Balance Bars because they do help satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you full with plenty of healthy nourishment.   Think what a big smile that special man would get if you gave him something he will actually love instead of pretending.  He can pack these bars in his briefcase to keep just in case he needs a quick lift--and with every tasty bite he will think of thoughtful you.

So solve your Father's Day gift buying problems with this limited-edition Balance Bar Father's Day Gift Set, which includes 15 BARE Balance bars in Sweet & Salty Peanut Butter, Sweet & Salty Chocolate Almond, and Blueberry Acai.  In addition, the gift set comes with a water bottle with a special built-in compartment to store a BARE bar and a playful "BARE Hug" Father's Day card.  Place your order before June 11, 2012 and get free ground shipping within the USA with a price of $17.84.
