How to Best Keep Foundation From Settling Into Facial Lines!

smiling aging woman.jpeg
This beauty got it right by learning how to make her foundation work for her.

With age, we may gain experience and wisdom through what life taught us.  Unfortunately, another bonus is the problem of fine lines and wrinkles.  You may have noticed that some of your favorite foundations that you wore regularly are starting to call attention to those creases.  Though you can’t stop time unless you reverse what is happening to your face with Botox or a surgical procedure, there are ways to help lessen your chances of foundation possibly embarrassing you.

Safely Clean Your Boar-Bristle Hair Brushes With This DIY Natural Hair Brush Cleaning Recipe!

Unlike synthetic hairs, natural bristles require a different method of washing if you want to clean them and prolong the life of those boar-bristles. However, when you go a step further from just combing out the hair, dust and grime of accumulated styling products before a plain water soaking, the brush will be fresher and conditioned at the same time.

Using a shampoo to wash boar bristles in is a bad idea, but soaking that brush with some dish detergent is another story.  I prefer milder dish detergents for this purpose without anti-bacterial ingredients that could possibly cause damage.  Yet, I also found that adding some extra-virgin olive oil along with that dish detergent seems to condition those natural boar hairs as well.

DIY Natural Boar-Bristle Brush Cleaner Recipe

1/2 cup of mild dish detergent
3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil

Before you begin, comb out all the imbedded hair, dust and grime in your brush to prepare it for soaking.

Mix the dish soap and olive oil together in a small basin or container suitable to twirl your brush in to coat all the bristles.  You will not be soaking.

Once your bristles received this brief treatment, you will run the brush under warm (not hot) water until bubbles are gone and the water appears clear.

Give the brush a thorough shake to get rid of the water; then, lay it out to dry.

By the next day, your brush will be cleaner with a renewed look to those bristles!

Time Saving Tips for Organizing a Growing Handbag Collection!

line of handbags.jpeg
Clever organization of a handbag collection can save time and limit stress when time to wear.

Any savvy fashionista has quite a few fabulous handbags that can keep their look amazing and fresh.   However, storing a continually growing collection can take some doing if you intend to organize them.   Here’s how to keep your sanity and make those expensive bags easier to find when it comes time to wear them.

One of the worst mistakes is trying to store a small bag like a clutch into a larger one.  Though you temporarily make more room in your closet, you also risk forgetting where you put that handbag. You tell yourself that you will remember, but over time it can happen like it did to me.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Chatoyant Eau de Parfum From the Fragrant Confections Collection Review

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Chatoyant perfume.jpeg
Chatoyant is steeped in complex layers and sensual beauty.

Like a captivating vision from your dreams, Rouge Bunny Rouge’s Chatoyant Eau de Parfum, instantly takes hold of your senses to slowly lure you into a magical place full of wonder and awe. Sophisticated and sensual, this woody floral fragrance created by perfumer, Francis Deleamont, launched 2012 as one of the three richly layered, intriguing fragrances that make up their Fragrant Confections Collection.

Chatoyant opens with cool citrus notes of crisp lemon and bergamot iced over floral. As that ice melts in the heart, the tart juice drips over the orchid, jasmine, rose, and lily of the valley, curbing the floral sweetness with a lovely, luminous quality.

The heart is utterly feminine, romantic, confident, and full of effortless elegance when it blooms to life.  At the same time, it has a delicate velvety quality that evokes tenderness in how it touches you once those notes meld together.

You find yourself bewitched, almost lost in this special world of where reality and dreams mix.  Yet, the moment this fragrance begins to dry down in the base with sandalwood, cedarwood, musk, and vanilla, it takes on more of a luscious, sexy creaminess that compels you to lose yourself to its inviting warm embrace.

Just as divine as Chatoyant is the gorgeous icy glass falcon with its etching of plants and heavy silver cap that beautifully suits the nature of this perfume.

I adore Chatoyant ($129) and highly recommend it for yourself or anyone on your holiday gift shopping list because is irresistible and a gem of an oriental eau de parfum!

Foods That Can Help Your Dieting Efforts When You Have the Urge to Snack!

apple.jpeg
Apples are just one food you may want to stock up on when dieting.

Trying to shed weight is never an easy task.  Whether you’re cutting back on your calorie intake or changing your diet and food choices, you may find that you’re still hungry.  Instead of suffering because you’re determined to stay on track, then I some helpful dieting advice that I want to share.

What I suggest is eating foods that provide plenty of filling protein or are loaded with fiber will keep you more satisfied than what you’re eating.  For example, a lowly large egg, for one, has only 78 calories each while being a great source of B vitamins, vitamin D, and minerals such zinc, selenium, iron, and copper.  When that urge to break your diet strikes, try eating a hard-boiled egg over a former snack choice.

Two Eco-Friendly Ways to Prevent Static Cling!

Dryer sheets or fabric softeners can help soften, scent and prevent static cling as we all know.  My favorite is Purex Crystals because it does all you want it to do and will not build up in the fabrics over time. Nonetheless, if you tend to be allergic to dryer sheets or fabric softeners and want a simple way to prevent static cling, I have two solutions that can save you grief from an embarrassing situation.

Though you won’t get that wonderful softness and scent of either form, what you can do is reach for some aluminum foil.  The plan is to take a sheet big enough to form a ball (about the size of a baseball) to throw in your dryer with the clothes.  Believe it or not, this little laundry solution is a green and chemical free way to prevent static electricity.

Another excellent solution to help fight static cling is something I learned years ago from a co-worker that works beautifully using hand lotion.  Unscented, eco-friendly body lotions can also do the same thing.  So check out my earlier post because this handy solution can save you potential embarrassment, too.

Your Feet Deserve My DIY Foot Sloughing Soak for Skin Pampering!

feet wearing snakeskin heels.jpeg
Hard-working, stylish feet need all the help they can get--like this soothing recipe!

We spend more time concentrating our beauty efforts on our faces and bodies than our often neglected feet. However, if you want to reward them with smoother skin, I hope that you will set aside some time to try this simple recipe because it encourages smoother feet as it very gently exfoliates rough skin.

Another perk is how stimulating you will find this homemade foot treat is once you take advantage of this warm, soothing soak.  Your tired feet will thank you.

DIY Foot Sloughing Soak

1/3 cup of warm olive oil
juice of two fresh lemons
1 vitamin E soft gel capsule (400 I.U.)
2 drops of peppermint essential oil

Heat the olive oil until it is warm, but not hot so it is a comfortable temperature.

Pour this into your foot size basin along with the juice of two fresh lemon, the contents of the vitamin E capsule once you pricked it open with a pin and the two drops of peppermint essential oil.

Soak your clean feet for as long as you can, but at least ten minutes before drying.  Follow up with foot cream.

A Valuable Makeup Tip That Will Save You Money When Using Sponges Over Brushes!

makeup sponges.jpeg
The choice of a sea sponge, non-latex round or beauty blender can make a difference in your look and wallet.

Some of you may have a preference for trusting your application of liquid foundation to makeup brushes or fingers.  Still others feel that a sponge does a better job for blending and the final appearance. To be honest, I use them all at times while getting ready because they each help me differently through the process like what I have learned when using sponges.

My first experience with makeup sponges was using a small sea sponge.  These will work with liquid foundation for easy blending into your skin, but do cause you to waste more than you think.  This does not mean that I think you should stop using makeup sponges, but only suggest that you may want to switch.

Some Classic Beauty Tips That Can Help Your Appearance Project Wealth!

beauty with a blunt hair cut.jpeg
Classic beauty is refined and confident. that can give your look a sophisticated edge.

Beauty and fashion trends may come and go, but classic makeup looks and styles are timeless.  If you want to project an image of more sophistication, then you may find it helpful rethinking your makeup and hair for a softer, more subdued look.

Instead of blue hair or any bold shade, which is not found in nature, try sticking with hair colors that people are actually born with.

Extremely shiny, multidimensional strands flatter any face.  They also suggest to the world that you spend a lot of time on your appearance.

Fuego Box October 2016 Review

Fuego Box October 2016.jpeg
Hot, spicy flavors that are distinctive!

Before I was aware of Fuego Box, I had no idea that so many different varieties of artisan hot sauce existed. Fortunately, with this hot sauce subscription, any lover of fiery flavor constantly keeps discovering new, unique brands that I dare you to find easily on your own like the trio in my October 2016 assortment.

In the selection this month, I savored Horsetooth Smokestack Lightning Hot Sauce.  Dark, reddish-brown, this one is enhanced with smoky flavor, chipotle peppers, cayenne and plenty of garlic that lends something special to your plate.  I consider this a moderate burn and a perfect sandwich spread to perk up any cheese or luncheon meat from the first time I tried it.  A few shakes on a slice of pizza were also yummy from my second taste test.

Is Your Deep Conditioner Not Doing Your Hair Justice?

smiling long-haired beauty in jacket.jpeg
This beauty knows what it takes to keep her hair in glorious condition.

If your deep conditioner doesn’t seem to be doing enough to repair the extent of hair damage as you had hoped, you might want to just try another brand or formula. Before you go shopping for a new one, you’ll be better off knowing what type of ingredients that can help your suffering hair the most.

The best deep conditioners have plenty of fatty acids.  These ingredients are emulsifiers, the oily substances needed to fortify and saturate the cuticle of damaged hair with that needed moisture to rehydrate and repair. Some common ones are stearyl acid, cetearyl acid, capric acid, linoleic acid, pantothenic acid (panthenol), and myristic acid among others to oils like coconut and jojoba.

You also want to make sure to look for smoothing ingredients such as dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxne (silicone compounds).  These help in keeping the hair’s cuticle flat to maximize shine and manageability.

Hopefully, this hair tip will help you find more hair happiness in the future!

Pur Minerals Sun-Kissed Glow Strobe & Highlight Palette Review + Swatches!

Pur Minerals Sun-Kissed Glow Palette.jpeg
This palette is ideal for a foolproof way to contour and highlight.

Sculpting a face with shadow and light takes makeup artistry.  Too dark of a contour shade or placing it in the wrong spot can spoil your efforts just as easily as overdoing highlights if you don’t proceed with caution.  On the other hand, strobing is a softer contouring technique that simplifies facial defining through subtle luminescence.  I got to practice with Pur Minerals Sun-Kissed Glow Strobe & Highlight Palette.

A Nail Color Blunder You Want to Avoid!

modeling nude nail polisg.jpeg
When your hands aren't in the best condition, you need to give more thought to your nail colors.

When the weather is turning colder, our hands are prone to redness and chapping.  Therefore, we need to be careful when choosing nail colors.  Otherwise, a wrong color choice can call more attention to the redness than we like.

My advice is that if you plan to play down that redness, then avoid red shades of nail polish.  You are better off counteracting that angry color with paler, skin-toned colors in non-shimmering polishes until that irritation heals.  Feel free to revisit those glamorous red nail colors once that redness subsides!

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Sticks Review

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Schmidt's deodorants.jpeg
Stay safe without potentially risking your health to aluminum-based antiperspirants.

I will not mince words here.  People have a tendency to stink--there, and I said it.  Despite all the care we take with our personal hygiene, we depend on our deodorants and antiperspirant to get us through our hectic, stress-filled days.  However, there is hard evidence linking use of an antiperspirant to a risk of developing breast cancer, which is difficult to ignore.  Therefore, deodorants are healthier alternatives, especially when you find one in a formula that you can trust.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorants ($8.99) makes a cream form in a jar as well as natural deodorant sticks. When I contacted whether I would be interested in trying some, of course, I was eager to see how this unfamiliar brand performed.  Since I don’t particularly care for sticking my fingers in a jar to rub deodorant in my armpits, I told PR to send me a few of the stick forms.

I received Ylang-Ylang + Calendula (softly floral), Fragrance-Free, and Lavender + Sage (herb-inspired freshness).  This award-winning natural formula uses arrowroot powder and baking soda to control wetness along with moisturizing agents such as coconut and jojoba oils among its ingredients to do the job.

What I can tell you are that this product spread nicely without leaving me sticky or unsure through the hours that I wore it.  The product is free of that problematic aluminum, parabens, phthalates, and gluten.  My advice is try Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Sticks for yourself and then see if I’m not right about how effective their natural deodorants are!

Unwash Dry Cleanser Review

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Unwash Dry Cleanser.jpeg
A dry shampoo can be a lifesaver.
Life can be unexpected.  For those days when lack of time or sickness disrupt your normal hair care routine, a dry shampoo like Unwash Dry Cleanser can get you out of a fix.

What is unique is that this fruity smelling powder uses natural volcanic ash to gently clean the hair without stripping hair color.  The product also has vitamin E and panthenol for conditioning.

The other day I tried it for the first time.   After giving the can thorough shaking, I aimed the bottle about six or seven inches from the head, concentrating on the roots. Once I finished spraying, I left it to dry before shaking it with my fingers and then using my brush to remove the white powder residue it leaves behind.

For those times when you know that you won’t be washing your hair, it’s always better to have dry shampoo on hand.  I thought the Unwash Dry Cleanser ($28) helped hair feel cleanser so check it out.

Pur Minerals Cameo Contour Stick Dual-Ended Foundation (Light) Review + Swatches!

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Pur Minerals Cameo Contour Stick.jpeg
This stick makes it easier to perfect your contouring without wasting time!

Here’s a way to simplify your beauty contouring routine.  What you need is this handy doubled ended foundation stick that I have been using lately from Pur Minerals called their Cameo Contour Stick Dual-Ended Foundation that arrived with some of their other products that PR sent earlier.

Besides the Light shade that I received, four other colors of this stick are available.  One end is a fair to light gently shimmering beige while the other is the deeper contour shade of bronze.  See the above swatches of this stick on my wrist.

When time matters and you’re running late, you will especially appreciate how easily this creamy, blendable foundation stick that starts out feeling like a cream and transforms into a powder solves your contouring problem just by turning it upside down.

For my fair to light warm skin tone, the two colors in this Light stick were realistic shades to highlight and contour the face with.  Sometimes, contouring sets can be overly brown, white or sparkly, but this was not the case with the Cameo Contour Stick Dual-Ended Foundation ($39.50).  You’ll find this convenient stick at Pur Minerals so be sure to check it out!

Laura Geller Just Blushing Palette Trio of Baked Blush Shades Review + Swatches!

Laura Geller Just Blushing Palette Trio and swatches.jpeg
For help lighting up the face for a gorgeous glow, start with my index finger Bora Bora/Maui, Tropic Hues (middle), then Golden Apricot  (third finger).

Cheeks never had it so good once they meet up with Laura Geller’s Just Blushing Palette Trio of stunning Baked Blush shades.  This limited edition palette that PR sent among some other irresistible foundations that I will share with you later is what you need to light up a face with beautiful gleaming hues of striking swirled combinations of pinks, berries, coral and bronze.

As to the three blush colors, here are the shades.   Tropic Hues is a cool tone of a berry, pink, bronze mix, Bora Bora/Maui is coral infused pink accented with a bit of berry and Golden Apricot might be described more as a bronze-coral riveted to life with streaks of red berries.

These pressed and well-pigmented powder blushes have a creamy, silky texture that adheres to the complexion like a second skin and stay there until its time to remove your makeup.  My complexion beamed and appeared naturally radiant wearing these baked blushes.

If you are searching for brilliant, lit up color from your blush and never tried this brand’s baked blush ($26), Laura Geller’s Just Blushing Palette is something that you should take advantage of with three amazing shades for just $34, a real bargain if you ask me!

Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner.jpeg
To "poo" or not "to poo," that is the question?
The “no-poo” movement in hair care is big right now. The reason it has gained such popularity is because it is a gentler way of cleansing the hair over traditional shampooing.  With how it locks in natural oils and doesn’t strip hair color, this type of product also can be quite moisturizing like the Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner that I was asked if I would like to try.

This is a fairly thick creamy liquid that has a wonderful, sweet fruity fragrance.  Like other “no-poo” formulas that I tried, this product does not foam up like a regular shampoo. I also think that the first time you use a product like this that you do have a tendency to pour on more than you probably need to wash your hair to feel like there is enough to work with to feel clean.  Once you rinse it out, however, you see all the bubbles and realize it is just something that you got to get used too.

I also must say that my hair tangles easily.  My usual routine always was following with a separate conditioner if I hoped to get a comb through it. But, this did not happen once I went to dry and style it.

My hair felt soft and was quite manageable when I finished. Yet, the Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner also left it duller than it usually looks. Of course, every head of hair reacts to products differently.  This is just how it worked on my hair.

Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner ($36) is recommended for all hair types and textures.  If you’re intrigued to go “no-poo,” visit the company’s website and see how it works for you.

How to Best Hide Wrinkles With An Illuminating Product!

lots of makeup.jpeg
Do you know the most helpful products to best hide your problem of facial aging?

The simplest way to look younger is deflecting light on those problem lines and wrinkles.  Depending on your skin type, there are two different approaches that can better help you erase some years off of your face.

Those with dry to a normal complexion will find a liquid illuminating primer before a quality foundation works the best.  What I like to do is add a little extra in my laugh lines after I apply, then buff that problem area with a fresh makeup sponge to clean up any overload. Doing so, I gently fill in the crevices, ideally smoothing them for a kinder focus when light hits the face.

Of course, not everyone has a dry complexion like mine.  Instead of using a liquid illuminating primer that may introduce more oil into your skin underneath your foundation, my advice is concentrating your efforts on top of the skin with an illuminating powder.  Brushing the lined area helps throw light where you need it, softening the effect of those lines while reducing the likelihood of more shine or possible breakouts.

Try this makeup tip because it will thrill you once you look at yourself in the mirror!

Now Is the Time to Start Preparing Your Skin for Winter!

**Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post for EOS.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

pretty woman with hat surrounded by leaves.jpeg
This beauty knows what it takes to maintain that gorgeous complexion.  The question is, do you?

Before you know it, the cold weather outside will soon force us to turn up the temperatures inside.  Though this action seems innocent enough, that heat starts the cycle of the skin losing normal moisture.  The fact is the older that you are, the drier your skin will experience this increased dryness due to the dermis producing less sebum for needed natural moisture that oil glands once supplied.  In order to protect your skin from suffering this winter from excessive dryness, then take these skin care tips to heart.

Just like the seasons, our skin does change as well in reaction to the weather.  You may still be using a lighter moisturizer that carried you through warm, humid summer weather, but you may want to start shopping for a heavier formulation to handle the colder days ahead.  My advice is trading your water-based moisturizer for an oil-based one with plenty of non-clogging oils like avocado, borage, grape seed, jojoba, olive or almond oils.  You can also try hunting for moisturizers rich in humectants like hyaluronic acid, AHAs, urea, glycerin for their abilities in pulling water from the atmosphere before binding it the skin, which may feel more lightweight, especially as a lotion.
