| Lay your makeup brushes flat to dry. |
Makeup brushes can be costly. However, you can extend their life as long as possible with a few simple tricks.
First, make it a point to wash your brushes at least once a week. This will help prevent cosmetics from building up a layer of old products and grime that could later harden bristles.
Second, what you wash those brushes with is equally important. Treat them to a delicate wash with baby shampoo. Those high-end bristles will remain soft, like new by doing so. At the same time, you'll effectively be helping keep bacteria at bay.
Third, you must be careful in how you dry your makeup brushes in order to maintain their shape. Lay your freshly washed brushes flat on a clean washcloth, towel or paper towel and allow them to dry overnight.
Finally, you should consider storing your brushes in an open container instead of locking away in your makeup bag. By keeping your brushes out and exposed to air such as on top of your dressing table allows the bristles more chance to breathe so they can serve you longer.
