Knowing with certainty the type of skin you have is
definitely helpful when buying beauty products. Otherwise, you might be
neglecting or over using ingredients that could spoil your complexion from too heavy a formulation for oily skin, not heavy enough for dry,
or left wondering what is the best, if you fall in between with combination skin. After all, you need
those products to work for you and not against.
Though you probably have a good idea as to where your skin
fits in when it comes to determining type, there is a simple test to take the
guesswork out of figuring skin type. This is with the tissue test.
The proper way to perform the test is to wash your face
and then wait 15 minutes before pressing the tissue over your skin. Hold
the tissue in place for about 10 seconds.
After that allotted time goes by, you need to check the tissue and
examine it. If you see a lot of dark spots, your complexion is oily.
On the other hand, if you see just a few dark spots, then
you have combination skin. In fact, you probably found those dark spots in
your T-zone (chin, forehead, and chin area).
However, you might find your tissue has light spots in
places. This result means you have normal skin.
Those that have a clean tissue after doing this
test have dry skin.
Once you have made a determination, the better your
chances are for keeping your complexion as beautiful as possible. In
addition, you'll be saving money on accumulating products that you will need to
buy again since they were wrong for you in the first place.
