I typically depend on emery boards when I do a manicure.  However, I wanted to see how well Sally Hansen's Ahead of The Curve Sapphire File would work on my fingernails and what the company's Hard As Nails Coarse Boards could do for a pedicure.  

Unlike those old-fashioned steel nail files of the past, this sapphire file has two fine gritted sides for filing and a contoured handle for a better grip.  The inner one is slightly coarser than the top side so you can easily smooth out fingernail length and shape.  On the other hand, the top side is for the finishing touches with an excellent finer grit that miraculously got my manicure done more quickly than using normal emery boards.

The next time I did a pedicure, I took out those Hard As Nails Coarse Boards to do those stronger toenails.  These boards are sold two to a package.  One side has a much coarser grit for tending to nail length and smoothing while the other is more of a medium grit for perfecting and finishing those nails.  

You can use these coarse boards on fingernails just as you can toenails, but I wanted them strictly for doing a pedicure.   I did think these simplified my task so much more

I can say that I really liked both of these Sally Hansen products and definitely will keep using them.  If you haven't tried either of these items yet and want a way to help improve your manicure and pedicure, do pick these up.

Dazzle Dry Nail Polish Kit and Color Nail Polishes

Since I have been making a lot of homemade breads and pasta, I have been negligent when it comes to my nails lately.  Otherwise, I would be sporting them with striking color at every opportunity.   So when the Dazzle Dry Nail Polish Kit and Color Nail Lacquers arrived for me to review, I thought I owed it to myself to flaunt pretty nails again.

I started with Dazzle Dry, a system to speed up the time to dry a manicure. This is a three product kit consisting of a bottle of nail prep, base, and a top coat.  What I really liked was the vitamin B5, calcium and collagen woud help strengthen my nails with each use as well as provide a chip-resistant high gloss finish.  I was also impressed to find no formaldehyde, toluene, phthalate, nitrocellulose and camphor in any of their products that can stain nails that ugly yellow.

The first thing I did was to dab some Dazzle Dry Nail Prep on my clean dry nails.  This is a sanitizing step that also leaves behind an initial layer of protection.  I gave this product a minute to dry before applying the second product in this kit.

The Dazzle Dry Base Coat is the clear polish I followed with.  This took only a minute or so before it dried and I could move onto the third step with color polish.

The hard part was deciding which of the three Dazzle Dry Nail Lacquers that I would try first.  Dawning Desire #411 is a pearly violet with beautiful luster.  Morning Sky #412 is a soft baby blue.  Sweet Sugar #362 is a shimmering melon-pink.  Being in a fun mood, I went with the violet first.

To make this gorgeous coverage last, I reached for the last bottle in the Dazzle Dry System: Top Coat.  This clear coating was remarkable for shielding my paint job much longer than I had expected without breaking a nail or chipping.

I had tried nail strengthening products but the protection in this system really amazed me.   You might say that I was the one dazzled by their products that worked to keep my normally fragile nails from breaking and color polish that survived the rigors of my day!
