Are You Safe Using Preparation H As an Eye Or Face Cream?

question mark.jpeg
Do you use Preparation H?

You probably have heard about the beauty trick of using Preparation H to reduce swelling of puffy eyes and help with wrinkles and beautifying a complexion. Top makeup artists, celebrities, models, and beauty contestants swore by its wonders for those purposes.  However, those results were based on the original formula that had a live yeast cell derivative (LCD), which is also referred to as Bio-Dyne.

Unfortunately, the formula underwent a change in 2007 where that ingredient was replaced with phenylephrine HCL.  Being a vasoconstrictor, this ingredient is a topical steroid that works to constrict blood vessels just like the phenylephrine in sudafed.  Temporarily, you might see swollen eyes deflate since the blood and fluids have a limited flow.  You may think this is a good thing and even be tempted to use it, but you are making a mistake.

Sure Bet Relief When Plagued by Puffy Eyes!

cucumbers.jpeg
You may already know about the value of cucumbers for this problem, but do you know how to intensify their deflating effect?

Puffy eyes are something that a lot of us experience from time to time.  Those undesired, pancake eyes can come from allergies, an upset that had you crying, partying too hard and overindulging with too many alcoholic drinks or glasses of wine, salting your food too much to just sleeping on your stomach with how it drains lymphatic fluid into the area.  Regardless of the contributing factor, puffy eyes are an ugly thing to wake up to.  However, you won’t need to suffer much longer once you try this simple puffy eyes fix.

Perhaps, you already heard about how helpful cucumber slices are for deflating eyes due to their antioxidants and flavinoids.  Yet, what if I told you that you can intensify the effect to get more powerful drainage?

These Natural Fixes for Puffy Eyes Can Help!

Waking up with swollen eyes is a problem for a lot of us.  Allergies, stress, hormone changes, and fluid retention are just some possible causes for this unwanted condition. Although there are many wonderful commercial products that can help, you can also find natural cures in your own kitchen that can make a difference between ugly saucer eyes and normal ones.

Cucumbers are handy to have around.  When you place a slice over each eyelid, this vegetable has the power to constrict blood vessels.  However, there is a drawback.  You need a lot of time to keep changing those slices before reaping the benefit.  Nonetheless, you can take down that swelling with this method.

Another thing you might want to try is tea, preferably green tea.  Wet a fresh tea bag in cold water and then wrap it with a tissue or soft thin cloth before placing over your eyelids.  Tea has tannins, which are known to help reduce swelling with an added tightening effect for improving the look of those fine lines.

Splashing your face with the coldest water you tolerate can help with swollen eyes.  In addition, you might want to wrap a few ice cubes around a wash cloth and hold them against your eyelids as well.

Avocado slices are something else that could be a great rescue for this problem.  This fruit has an abundance of vitamin A, D, and E besides other skin nutrients to work bringing that swelling down.  Prepare to spend at least 20 minutes or so with those slices on to give this method its proper due.

Raw potatoes are also great to turn to when swollen eyes are an issue with their store of B vitamins and nutrients to help with that skin's inflammation.  You can slice a small potato and apply to your eyelids for about 15-20 minutes for this one.

Then again, there is another trick you can try by making a compress for your eyes with grated raw potato, wrapping its squishy texture around cheesecloth or a thin soft cloth.  You could also grate in some raw cucumber in along with that raw potato as a second option for your compress.

The effectiveness of any of these simple fixes can vary from one individual to another and always is dependant on what caused your swelling problem in the first place.

If your eyes are swelling due to fluid retention, you might find it to your advantage to hide your salt shaker.  Salt holds in water, which can definitely make your eyes puffy.

Overindulging of my favorite beverage, coffee, or anything with too much caffeine can also contribute to fluid retention.  The same rule applies to alcohol.  If either or both of those are your vices, you might want to cut back to deal with that swelling issue.

I also want to mention these methods do involve a little preparation and extra time to see them through.  Yet, these natural remedies can save you money and that unsightly appearance of saucer eyes once you give them a chance.  Hopefully, you won't have to use them, but this knowledge is nice to know if this beauty spoiler pays you a visit.

Need Some Cheap Eye Beauty Fixes for Puffiness?

One of the most common complaints we all have is with our eyes.  Sometimes, we can wake up with puffy, swollen eyes like saucers.  Other times, we tend to have those dark under eye rings like a human raccoon.  Crying or fatigue could be behind this new look.  Unfortunately, many of us have allergies and these extra bits of beauty are constantly on our face, only to add more joy and, of course, challenge to our lives.

If you find yourself suddenly needing to experiment with a remedy for those eyes, I do have a few things that you might want to try.  For puffiness, you can try placing chilled wet tea bags on your closed eyes for about ten minutes.  Be sure to keep your head elevated on a pillow while using this to help with the blood flow.  The released caffeine in any typical tea from the black to the green works the same way to help those eyes deflate.

Another helpful  tip for puffiness is to grate some raw potato (about half of a small to a medium size depends on how good of a grater you are without getting your fingertips bloody) and apply to a clean dampened piece of gauze.  Wrap this potato gauze into a strip.  Place this strip on your closed  eyes and chill out on your bed for about five minutes while the potato does its work. Again, you should keep your head slightly elevated for the most effectiveness.

Anything from your freezer wrapped in a clean cloth that is flat enough for you to apply to your eyes, can often take down some of the puffiness.  Cracked ice works nicely wrapped in cloth.

Believe it or not, Preparation H is recommended by some plastic surgeons to use under your eyes to bring down swelling.

Something else that is useful is dabbing some castor oil to the skin under those eyes.

Sometimes, you could to resort to sleeping on two pillows to lessen the puffiness.  However, you might wake with a stiff neck.  I only suggest this for those desperate individuals born with a long, graceful neck.  Those with a short one like myself do better with other methods.

You also might want to consider the type of pillow you're using.  Feather pillows may be comfortable, but they can be the culprits behind dark allergic shiners and the puffiness.  Sometimes, you could switch and find that was the best beautifier of all for your eyes!
