How to Salvage a Nearly Empty Lip Gloss for a Makeup Save!

lip glosses in plexiglass box.jpeg
Though you can always toss or go with a different gloss, this makeup tip can help stretch your usage.

Don’t you hate when you’re nearly finished with your makeup only to find that the favorite lip gloss that you wanted to wear is nearly gone once you take that applicator out?  In this situation, you usually have two choices of either tossing out the product or hunting through your lip products for a similar color.  However, I have a better idea that helps get you out of this practically drained lip gloss fix that you’re going to love, especially when it delays disposing a prestige cosmetic prematurely.

All you need to do is to take the problem tube of lip gloss to a sink and run some hot water over it briefly for about a minute or so.  Surprisingly enough, the warmth loosens the remaining gloss that always manages to cling to the sides, replenishing the supply.  If you follow this makeup tip, then you will get another few times out of that tube.

Trust me, but you’ll love how well this lip gloss tip works!

Why You May Want to Avoid Lip Gloss When Spending Time in the Sun

modeling red lip gloss.jpeg
Red lips, especially orange-toned reds, are huge this summer 2016, but wear them wear.

Though lip gloss can beautifully enhance lips, you may want to avoid this particular lip product if you plan on spending some time in the sun.  The reason is how its shine can more easily attract the sun’s rays compared to a less reflective matte, cream or lacquer lipstick. Those can obstruct that light a bit more, but not totally.

Of course, you need not worry if your lip gloss or lipstick happens to have SPF protection.  However, you may want to buy a fresh tube since sunscreen in that lip product may have lost its effectiveness since you originally bought it.

What else that you can do is to buy is a lip balm with SPF to layer under your lipsticks. This is another way that you can keep your lips safe. Just from your same old stash of lipsticks, you can get a multitude of new lip color looks simply by sheering them out.  Be as creative as you like to use one shade or several colors to change at will like a chameleon!

Definitions Skincare Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**
Definistions Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper.jpeg
Definitions Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper

I recently became aware of Definition Skincare products when the company sought me out. This line, which is free of parabens, synthetic fragrances, and dyes can be found at dermatology offices, spas throughout the world as well as the company’s website.

Today, I want to share my thoughts on this brand’s Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper ($29). The formula includes natural peptides (oligopeptides) for promoting collagen production and jojoba, vitamin E, and grapeseed oil for delivering its wonderful moisture.

To begin with the color is a natural berry-pink shade that I think would flatter any skin tone without clashing with any outfit.  The sponge applicator was a nice size for working with.  Furthermore, this lip gloss spread easily with a non-sticky consistency.  There was no discernable taste to it and despite the slick shine, the color stayed on my lips instead of finding its way to my teeth.

Modeling Definitions Skincare Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper
Here I'm wearing Definitions Skincare Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper

At first, I did feel just a tad of tingling for a few minutes after applying, but it disappeared soon after.  Once that initial sensation went away, it felt comfortable and did seem to drench my lips with moisture.  As far as how much this product plumped, it did give my lips more of a slight pout, but hardly comparable to Angelina Jolies’ beautiful pair.  This plumper also did help condition the lips almost like a treatment and wore for about two to three hours.

According to the company’s claims, this is what to expect--
■ a 40% increase in lip volume ■ a 60% improvement in lip hydration ■ a 70% increase in lip softness ■ a 100% improvement in lip condition ■ a 29% reduction in surface folds and creases in 28 days. Visible plumpness occurs after one use. No burning or tingling like other plumper.

I did think the Sheer Intensity Lip Plumper was a wonderful product. Have you tried any of the Definitions Skincare or makeup products yourself? If not, do check them out.

bossy lip gloss.jpeg
This is Bossy.

Tempting lips was never easier once you try the new Chateau Kisses Plumping Lip Glosses from Pür MineralsI was sent Bossy and Scandalous for this review and giveaway.

What's unique about this line of eight striking mineral color shades is the formula, which has beneficial resveratrol that is derived from Bordeaux wine.  As a result, lips get rich definition and shine with a yummy cupcake-like smell!

Bossy is a medium berry-brown with gold pearl that looks natural, only expertly polished to be flirty.

Scandalous is just as enticing.  This is a sheer berry red with gold pearl that looks naturally flushed with mimicking ripe berries showing through with a bit of sunny highlight.

scandalous lip gloss.jpeg
Here is Scandalous.
Though I can’t say that I noticed all that much of a plumping effect, there was so much to love about these lip glosses. Besides that delightful cake-batter aroma and the coveted multiple of other gorgeous, shiny colors, they are not sticky in the least.

modeling-bossy-lip- gloss.jpeg
This is Bossy, a great neutral!   It also happens to be my favorite of the two.

modeling-scandalous-lip-gloss.jpeg
This is Scandalous.  You'll notice more pink-berry than red.

Also worthy of mention is the fact that they hydrate and feel wonderful against your lips for hours.  Mine stayed put for about four hours when I initially applied it until I dined.

Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about the color fading into your lips or ending on your teeth.

If you haven’t gotten around to trying  Pür Minerals Chateau Kisses Plumping Lip Glosses ($18), then you should check these out.

Thanks to Pür Minerals, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States win both Pür Minerals Chateau Kisses Plumping Lip Glosses in Bossy and Scandalous ($36 value)!

Wearing the Right Lip Color Can Make Your Teeth Look Whiter

If you want your teeth to look whiter, you may need to rethink the choice of lipsticks and glosses that you wear.

For the best results, those with pinkish tones in their complexions should try berry, red, and mauve lip colors.  With this type of cool natural coloring, these particular shades will help the teeth appear whiter.

Those with warm olive complexions would have better luck with silver-frosted brown or burgundy lip colors to make theirs appear brighter.

Women that have lots of color to their lips naturally would benefit from shiny gloss.

Start Spring Fresh With Juicy Tones of Orange to Play Up Lips: Red Apple Lipstick Style (Plush Pop, Firefly, Sunkissed, Fuzzy Navel) Review + Swatches!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Red Apple Lipsticks and gloss.jpeg
Going from left to right is Red Apple Lipsticks:  Fuzzy Navel,  Plush Pop, Firefly, and ending with Sunkissed on the right.

You know that warm weather is approaching when bright, fruity shades of color appear in cosmetic displays.  When Red Apple Lipstick reached out and asked if I would like to review four of their orange lippies, I was more than happy to see what new exciting shades they developed next, especially since I love their safer formulated lipsticks and glosses.  After all, it gives me peace of mind knowing that I need not worry about what toxic chemical I may be ingesting every time I take a sip of coffee or eat anything just for beauty.

The first one that I want to share with you is their Mint 2 Be Gloss in Fuzzy Navel.  I really liked that burst of mint-like moisture that keeps your lips so comfortable in this line's formula almost as much as that peach-pink color, which is delicate and fresh, almost like Spring itself.  This gloss stays intact and within your lip lines for hours.

Red Apple Lipsticks Mint to be gloss.jpeg
Here I'm wearing Fuzzy Navel.
Plush Pop is a more demure form of orange.  This lipstick has a cool metallic gleam to it with touches of pink and brown.  Of the three lipsticks, this was my favorite and the best way to get comfortable with this particular color.

Red Apple Lipstick Plush Pop swatch.jpeg
Isn't Plush Pop that I'm modeling pretty?
The next lipstick I sampled was Firefly.  This is the brightest pop of orange that will wet your lips like a juicy popsicle with traces of gold shimmer showing through.  Though lovely, I think this color would look best on a blonde with different coloring than mine.

Red Apple Lipstick Firefly swatch.jpeg
This is Firefly that I am showing you here.

Last, I tried on Sunkissed, which looked quite nice on me with my dark hair and light coloring.  This was the darkest of these orange lipsticks that had some red to it.  The shade can wake up a face with sizzling color.  Against a tan, I can only imagine how pretty that lively color would look.
Red Apple Lipstick Sunkissed swatch.jpeg
Take a look at Sunkissed.
My feeling is experiment with orange.  If you give that hue a chance and let its warm radiance shine through on your own lips, then you might be surprised on what it can do for your face and sunny outlook in general.

All three of these lipsticks retail for $23.50 on Red Apple Lipstick and the Mint 2 Be Gloss sells for $18.50.  Do check these orange lippies out.

Expressive NEW Shades--IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stains (News Anchor Blue, Mauve-A-Lous Darling, Wine Berry Flush) Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**
IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stains Trio.jpeg
On the left is Mauve-A Louse Darling, New Anchor blue (middle) and Wine Berry Flush in the IT Cosmetics vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stains.

Here are three easy ways to beautiful lip perfection.  Let me introduce you to IT Cosmetics Mauve-A-Lous Darling, Wine Berry Flush, and News Anchor Blue Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stains, the latest shades of these lip pampering glosses that definitely can help you turn heads.

If you are already familiar with this formula of glosses, then you know just how terrific and long lasting they are.   They drench lips with moisture, dress them with irresistible color and seem to fill them out at the same time without any heavy or sticky feel while treating like a lip balm.  The reason these dependable glosses can do such much in just one product is due to IT Cosmetics amazing anti-aging technology with helpful skin care ingredients such as hydrating collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and plum, cherry, avocado, jojoba, and argan oils.

The colors in the tubes can deceive so don't expect them to appear exactly the same when applied.  These are beautiful chameleons that transform once on.

Mauve-A-Lous Darling is one of those ideal rosy-mauve shades that you can wear any time or occasion.  I loved how natural the pink, rose and mauve tones were in this for perking up my complexion.

Mauve-A-Lous Darling Vitality Lip Blush Lip Gloss Stain from IT Cosmetics.jpeg
Meet Mauve-A-Lous Darling!

Wine Berry Flush also was flattering, only in a different color scheme.  I would describe the color as warm plum because of the reddish-brown over a wine base.  This shade looks a rusty-brown inside the tube until making contact with your lips.

Wine Berry Flush IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Blush Lip Gloss Stain.jpeg
This is Wine Berry Flush, so stunning with my light warm coloring and dark hair.

At first, I thought News Anchor Blue might be more for a night out clubbing than for the office.  In the tube, this is a bold shade that could be a definite conversation starter, ladies.  Imagine how much you might have intrigued with that mysterious flash of blue on your lips.  However, this is not how this color behaves when wearing.  Instead, it is a shimmering sheer wash of the palest blue, almost white that can do wonders for making your teeth look whiter.  Although you can wear it by itself, I preferred layering it with another color to give my complexion a boost.

IT Cosmetics News Anchor Blue Vitality Lip Blush Lip Gloss Stain.jpeg
News Anchor Blue is above.  Though it appears pale blue on the wand, it goes on more shimmering white than blue.

My favorite of the three is the Wine Berry Flush, but then Mauve-A-Lous Darling is very pretty and when I mix News Anchor Blue with either, I get an awesome shade.  Therefore, I urge you to try all three of these new glosses yourself and experiment because you won't believe how sizzling hot your lips will look.

Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stains retail for $24 at  IT Cosmetics.  You can also find these at QVC and QVC.com, Ulta Beauty, and the Shopping Channel and shoppingchannel.com

Get More Variety Out of Your Lip Color With Just a Little Know How!

Here's an easy way to change the look of your lip color into a stunning, new shade.  All you have to do is be a little creative by layering it with something else.

For instance, a shimmering gold gloss over any color will warm up the shade for a beautiful change.  A tube of a gleaming gold lipstick over top of any color will also achieve the same result only without that excess shine.  Regardless of the shade underneath, you can create new countless colors from what you have already.

I like to individualize my look and often mix and layer color from several different tubes to get just what I'm after.  This artist-like approach can often get you closer to the ideal color you need if you intend to wear it with a hard-to-match outfit.  Lining up your stash at home with that outfit in view and playing with color is far simpler and less expensive than mistakes from guessing that exact shade from memory.

You can also sheer a color by layering lip balm before your color.  This method will make the shade less intense and keep your lips better moisturized.

Try this trick and watch how many extra compliments follow.

NEW Rimmel London's Stay Glossy 3D Lip Gloss (303 Candy Floss, 123 Back Row Smooch, 113 Popcorn for Two, and 603 Lights, Camera, Action) Review + SWATCHES!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Left to right is Rimmel Stay Glossy 3D Lip Glosses: 123 Back Row Smooch, 603 Lights, Camera, Action, then 113 Popcorn for Two and ending with 303 Candy Floss.

Rimmel London did something exciting when they developed their new Stay Glossy 3D Lip Gloss.  They jazzed up that vinyl-like shine with underlying color to make it multidimensional when the light hits it at various angles.  I have three to tell you about today.

Before I get into the colors, I want to fill you in on how comfortable these glosses feel on your lips.  They aren't sticky or wander over your lip line and end up on your teeth.  I happen to think these last for quite a few hours.  If you do eat or drink, you can expect some to come off.  Otherwise, they can hang in there with that shiny, moisturizing color for at least three or four hours.

The flat-tipped sponge applicator made application easy and precise.  The design really of that sponge really helps give you more control as you work.

113 Popcorn for Two is what I would describe as a nude pink with a peach overcast with a pale blue or teal sort of iridescent-like shimmer to give it a cool tone.  The effect is very soft, but just a tad too pale with my coloring.

Here I am wearing 113 Popcorn for Two.

123 Back Row Smooch is a gorgeous medium pink overcast with a violet-blue sort of iridescent-like shimmer.

This is 123 Back Row Smooch, a very appealing shade with just enough color that was more my style.
303 Candy Floss is a bright berry-pink approaching fuchsia that is overcast with a lovely violet-red iridescent-like shimmer.

Here is 303 Candy Floss.
603 Lights, Camera, Action is a peach-coral sort of orange color overcast with riveting bursts of medium pink iridescent-like shimmers.

This is 603 Lights, Camera, Action.  Notice how the pale orange is further enhanced with bits of pink showing through.

The multidimension effect is a very subtle one, but you can pick it up depending on the light.  Though it is not as dramatic as you may have hoped, it does lend a beautiful extra fullness to the lips in the process.

I loved the Stay Glossy 3D and already have my sights set on 703 Love At the Movies and Red Carpet Glam.  Have you tried any of these Rimmel London glosses yet?

Do pick some up your drug store because these are great!

NYC New York Color

A great way to get ready for holiday parties is with tempting lips.  After all, you need them to be as enticing as possible since you never know who and where you might be under the mistletoe with.

NYC New York Color sent me some hot recommendations of their various lines to get you prepped in style with the most trendy shades of the season.  Ranging from deep plums to vibrant reds to shocking hot pinks, these are the colors to you get noticed!

To give you some inspiration, I photographed the eight products you may want to pick up.  Starting on the left and working to the right is: City Duet 2- in-1 Lipstick in (#423 The Hot Pinks); City Proof 8 Hr Lip Glosses (#452 Perpetually Hot Pink and #454 Round the Clock Ruby); Smooch Proof 16 HR Lip Stains (#494 Smooch Proof, #497 Rock on Ruby and #495 Endless Spice), and the Big Bold Plumping Lip Glosses (#475 Plumped Plum and #471 Supersized Red on the far right).

The Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss has a bigger sponge and really packed intense shine in a comfortable formula.  I didn't notice much plumping, but loved the warmth and glistening power of this plum laced with brown in #475.  The red in #471 is warm as well with a trace of orange to punch it up.  It retails for $3.99 a tube and does wear very nicely for hours without letting you down or escaping from your lip line.

What do you think of me in #475 Plumped Plum?
Here I am modeling #471 Supersized Red.
The City Duet 2-in-1 Lipstick is fun to create new looks with because it has two sides of different color.  One half of #423 is a bold fuchsia and the other is a cool lilac-pink.  Just changing the way you apply each side can darken or lighten for endless possibilities for $2.99.

How do you like me in #423 The Hot Pinks?
Smooch Proof 16 Hr Lip Stain can help you out of a bind after those kisses keep coming.  This is highly pigmented color in pen form that stays put for hours on end even through mistletoe, food, and drinks.  The tip is easy enough to line with before filling in the color.  However, you might want to top it off with some lip balm or gloss to hydrate your lips.  Color wise #495 is a beautiful red-brown, #497 is a deeper red than #494. These lip stains retail for $4.99 each.

Here I am wearing #495 Endless Spice.
Take a look at #497 Rock on Ruby.
Check out #494 Smooch Proof above.
City Proof 8 Hr Lip Gloss is awesome all around for the texture, feel, color, and incredible wear.  #454 is a rich deep red infused with pink while #452 is a hot pink.  This gloss retails for $3.49 a piece.

Above I have on #454 Perpetually Hot Pink.

Here is #497 Rock the Clock Ruby that I am wearing.

I do think NYC New York Color makes fabulous affordable lip products.  Check them out when shopping because if never hurts to be mistletoe ready!

NYC New York Color Liquid Lip Shine for Standout Lips! (Review)--Photos + SWATCHES

Disclaimer:  This post is based on a free product provided by a company as a press sample so that I may offer my own  opinion, which may be the same or differ from yours.

NYC New York Color

I would be lost without lip gloss.  Lately, I became acquainted with a great one from NYC New York Color with their Liquid Lip Shines.  I received Toast of New York (#583), Midtown Mocha (#585L), Fashion Avenue Fuschia (#579), and Brighton Beach Peach (#575) and loved everything about this drugstore lippie.

Where do I begin when it comes to describing how comfortable this gloss feels on your lips?  There is no stickiness involved only that wonderful creamy slickness of shiny moisturizing color, making lips pop with beauty.  In fact, all four were very pretty.  Take a look for yourself below.

NYC New York Color Liquid Lip Shines.jpeg
On the left is Midtown Mocha, then Brighton Beach Peach, Fashion Avenue Fuschia, and ending with Toast of New York on the right.

Midtown Mocha is the darkest of the four.   Upon application, this provides a beaming rich nude shade that lightens up than what is shown in the tube.

Here I am wearing Midtown Mocha.

Toast of New York is a lighter neutral brown-pink that also is lovely for any color scheme you had in mind.

What do you think of Toast of New York?

Fashion Avenue Fuschia is a bright medium pink with hints of plum that can perk up any complexion through this lively shade.

In this photo, I have on Fashion Avenue Fuschia.

Brighton Beach Peach is the palest among these that can juice your lips with a splash of soft, tempting peach.

Here is Brighton Beach Peach.
This stuff also doesn't dry after awhile and stays put for hours.  This does come off slightly if you eat or drink,  but I only saw a trace amount of gloss on my coffee cup at lunch.

I am already looking into more shades.  No, I want the entire line!   Trust me, and you will want them all too once you see what NYC New York Color Liquid Lip Shines can do to play up your own lips.  Do pick some up because I have no doubts how much you'll love these glosses.
