How to Finally End Losing Socks When Laundering!

feet with socks.jpeg
This post will finally end the battle of missing socks!

I don’t understand the mysterious connection between washing machines, dryers and socks.  Some mysterious phenomenon must be going on because how many times have you put in pairs of socks only to be missing one once it comes out of the dryer.   Have you ever wondered where those socks go after searching every inch of your dryer and washer and other clothes from that load to see if they attached with no avail?   Well, I finally managed to solve that madness with what I’ve been doing lately.

I originally tried pinning pairs of socks together with safety pins before washing. This is all right most of the time, but I found it can tear socks.  Therefore, I stopped that practice.

Then, I tried using a mesh laundry bag that normally I use for washing delicate pieces. However, instead of taking them out of the bag when it’s time to put them into the dryer, I throw in the entire laundry bag.  The socks stay together this way because I am glad to report no more missing socks have occurred at my house since.

If you want to end missing socks once and for all, try using a mesh laundry bag as I suggested.  This laundry tip is the way to go, readers!

Sunburn? Try This DIY Strawberry Sunburn Relief Available From Your Kitchen Pharmacy!

strawberry.jpeg
Sunburn hurts. Strawberries are one way to rid you of the sting plus more DIY help!

Sunburn can sneak up on you when you’re having a good time or fall asleep in the sun without proper protection.  Sometimes, you might not even think it is that bad until later when you get home and bathe, only to feel it flame up on your skin. Hopefully, this won’t happen to you this year, but just in case your kitchen can be your own pharmacy because relief can be within your refrigerator.

I shared a few other DIY sunburn soothers before that help ease the pain.  One sunburn fix was with dry powdered milk and some honey that did exceptionally well for cooling, preventing infection and even help accelerate healing that you might want to check.  The second sunburn fix is another wonderful milk-based one due to its fat and proteins that also uses tomato juice.  Remember to keep the water cool just like the milk also helps lower the skin’s hot feeling.

You may wonder why switch from a DIY remedy that helped in favor of another.  The answer is because I had to improvise on what was in the refrigerator and pantry at the time the problem occurred, which you might have to do as well.

This is why I have yet a third DIY strawberry sunburn soother remedy for you today.  Strawberries are on sale a lot now being in season.  You probably have a package in your refrigerator if you’re as fond of those berries as we are.  Anyway, strawberries with their tannic acid and the probiotics in plain yogurt make an awesome combination when your skin is on fire.

All you need to do is to take about six large strawberries (about 1-1/2 cups) to ½ cups of plain yogurt.  I did not use anything fancy like Greek style, just the ordinary plain yogurt that I use for my sauces and salads. Clean and mash the berries first before combining.  Then slather it over the burned areas.  Keep this mixture on about twenty before rinsing off.  By the time you do, you will notice how much better and even lighter the burn seems to get.

Depending on what you have on hand, all three of these sunburn relief DIY remedies are worth trying.  You just need to go with the one that you have the ingredients to prepare it with.

A DIY Reviver to Invigorate Tired Legs and Feet!

lower part of woman's body in skirt and heels.jpeg
Stylish pair of heels are great, but legs and feet can pay a price at the end of a day.

Running around on your feet all day can be agony by the time you return home. Aching muscles and burning feet are crying out for relief. Besides a long soothing bath or shower and immersing feet in a therapeutic soak, I have another suggestion to help revive them again with this DIY leg and foot remedy.

You don’t need to buy a lot of fancy ingredients to prepare this homemade lotion, which refreshes them amazingly well.  This lotion with peppermint essential oil has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties to further help.

You will need to cook and then cool a batch before you can feel better.  Nonetheless, this is great to have on hand when this tired leg and foot problems happen, especially in the summer due to its cool sensation.

DIY Reviver for Tired Legs and Feet

½ cups of aloe vera gel
2 teaspoons of cornstarch, leveled
3 drops of peppermint oil
2 teaspoons of witch hazel
1 tablespoon of olive oil

Mix all the ingredients except the peppermint oil together before placing in a pan to cook enough to thicken slightly.  You want a spreadable consistency.  Once that stage is reached, let this mixture cool before adding the peppermint essential oil.

Keep in a jar that can seal. A clean peanut butter jar works just fine for this purpose.

When you’re ready, start rubbing some over your legs and feet.  Soon you will notice a wonderful coolness set in to replace that tired feeling.

Some Simple Beauty Secrets You Need to Start Now If You Intend to Age Gracefully!

woman drinking huge milk.jpeg
This beauty takes proper nutrition and maintaining her youth seriously.  You can too just read the post!

Admit it.  You like your face–-at least as it is today.  Yet, regardless of how beautiful it might be, time does manage to catch up with each of us.  Therefore, you want to delay this transition as long as possible by starting now with realistic beauty habits that will help preserve your youthful appearance to glide into the future.

Your Hair Can Reveal a Lot About Age

On the subject of hair, every so often you may want to rethink the style of your cut or add color to hair once you begin noticing grays. After all, your life changes and what worked a year ago or two may take too much time to style or dry due to a long commute, a new baby or even health that may affect the texture.  Perhaps, a lower maintenance style that has less fuss to it would suit your lifestyle better now.

Tell your stylist to make sure the cut is one that moves.  Hair that swings and has lots of shine looks younger than one that never budges. Flexible sprays do the trick just as well to keep hair in place unlike hard helmet hair caused by an extra firm holding hair spray.

If you thought lots of different jars, tubes, and palettes of makeup was what kept you looking your best, you might have gotten away with poorly applied products during your younger years. However, the older that you get, the more dependant you need to be on makeup brushes for precise blending instead of risking streaks or calling attention to lines and any flaws.

Safeguard Your Skin to Defend Against Aging

Make it a habit to wear an SPF 50 daily, not just for times when you plan to soak up the sun.  Keep a jar or tube of a broad-spectrum sunscreen in full view on your vanity or where you can’t be sure to miss it before leaving the house.  This extends even for short trips to the grocery store or a few minutes gardening. Unprotected skin suffers damage that accumulates to produce wrinkles.

Teeth Also Play a Role So Keep Them Healthy and Bright

Teeth naturally yellow as we get older.  What makes the problem worse are stains to our enamel from beverages such as coffee, tea, colas to tomato-based things and fruits like blueberries.  Whitening gels and strips or treatments from your dentist can greatly improve their white brightness.

Use Makeup Strategically Instead of Piling It On

Complexions do pale the more we age.  A good way to handle that little issue is relying more on bronzers to usher in some much needed healthy color.

Some aging women believe wearing more makeup is the way to maintaining a youthful face.  Unfortunately, too heavy of a hand and overloading products, especially using strong, bold colors can do the opposite. Instead, you can be drawing attention to lines and wrinkles while unintentionally creating a mask-like appearance.  Less makeup often can do more good than so much that appears so thick it could be scraped off with a knife.

Shiny Hair, Skin and Lips Adds to a Youthful Image

We associate shiny hair, skin, and lips with a youthful appearance.  To make sure your hair has a shine, remember always to use a shine spray or shine serum.  Skin and lips at a younger age have smoothness and glow to them, which exfoliation and shine through artful highlighting and a pale natural or even clear lip gloss could help replicate.

Unwanted facial hair may start to become a problem due to wacky hormones.  Of course, you could try time-consuming electrolysis, but you might want to invest in a hair removal device like Tria for a permanent solution.

These Few Weight Loss Strategies Come in Handy Especially for Bathing Suit Season!

woman wearing bathing suit.jpeg
This beauty was ready for the beach and you can be too.

It is finally warming up enough to lose all the heavier clothing in favor of sleeveless summer dresses, shorts and body revealing bathing suits.  If you have tried your bathing suit on for the first time this year, you might smile as you pivot studying your reflection in a full-length mirror.  Then again, you might have put on a few pounds since the last time you either put that skimpy bikini on or shopped for a new one.  Instead of thinking an attractive cover up or a one piece suit is your only solution, then I disagree because there’s still time to get your body back with just a little patience and effort.

What I suggest is start measuring each portion of the food before it goes on your plate.  You will be shocked at how much you can eat when you use a measuring cup and a scale to weigh your foods. Believe it or not, estimating portions may have caused you to eat less of the nutritious foods for each meal than the recommended diet portion.  Therefore, it is easy to understand how you might have been filling up with empty calorie snacks to compensate.

For a beverage, water also helps to fill you up.  Besides herbal ice tea, you might also want to try a small glass of almond milk.  A cup of chocolate almond milk has 100 calories and tastes decadent when want something delicious and sweet that can curb your appetite.

Something else that helps distract your mind off of the urge to eat is occupying it with another activity.  Have you ever noticed that you are never as hungry when you’re busy immersed in a project or a physical chore than when you’re just relaxing, perhaps, watching television?

One last piece of advice is brushing your teeth and floss within thirty minutes after eating.  I found it helps curb the urge to snack between meals since I don’t like to dirty my mouth and do the whole brushing and flossing again.  It may sound bizarre, but this works ideally after dinner when I would like to snack.

These weight loss strategies helped me and that’s why I’m sharing them with you.  Losing weight is hard and can be an everyday struggle, but is better when you have someone else going through it with you-–like me. So stay positive and keep trying because that bathing suit is waiting for your many admirers to see.  For more helpful advice, check my sidebar under the dieting label for additional suggestions.

An Easy Save to Keep Delicate Necklaces From Tangling When Storing in Your Jewelry Box!

blue stone necklace.jpeg
Using their boxes is fine, but some are too bulky or can add up in a jewelry box.  This post can help.

Necklaces that have those fragile, thin chains can be hard to store.  Sometimes, you might keep them in their original box inside your jewelry box, but this doesn’t always work if you others also to dominate the space.  Instead, what helps is to find an alternative.  With the tip that I have for you, you will gain more room in your jewelry box while safeguarding the necklaces from knotting.

What I’ve been doing to save on jewelry box space is taking clean popsicle or ice cream bar sticks to wrap the chains of those necklaces around before putting them away.  These wooden sticks take up a lot less room than some of the bigger boxes.

I also have been saving empty thread spools (the small size) that can line up uniformly in a separate section of my box.  This is also a good method for the chains, but unless you sew a lot you may need to wait before you have enough.

Another idea that can save you space is using those plastic-coated playing cards to secure those fine necklaces around.  This way of storage works to arrange the filled cards neatly in different ways in your jewelry box.

Of course, this is only just some suggestions that can keep those fragile chains from tangling while also saving space in a crowded jewelry box.   However, it does solve the problem quite nicely.

Catherine Jinn's Pro Bio-Placenta Essence ($73.97) Giveaway! (USA, Canada)–Ends July 19, 2017

Pro Bio-Placenta Essence.jpeg
This is one product for face, neck and eyes.

I don’t know one person that feels good about aging, if being completely honest. No doubt, you gain life experience that you didn’t have in youth, but you also start to show that evidence on your formerly unlined face.   Therefore, you need a plan of attack if you want to prolong the inevitable as long as possible.  A worthy weapon to help defend your beautiful face is Korean skin care brand, Catherine Jinn’s Pro Bio-Placenta Essence that I have been using lately for this review and giveaway.

This formula was developed and made in the United States to work like the human placenta using five growth factors (IGF, EGF, VEGF, acidic FGF, and basic FGF) to repair damage to aging skin and restore elasticity. This product is free of parabens, fragrance and never tested on animals.  Also, it is safe for the eye and neck area as well as the face so you can get away with one product instead of three!

The clear serum is dispensed through a pump.  Unlike some serums, this isn’t as hydrating when you apply as others.  This product is fast absorbing without any stickiness or slickness to it. However, it does address fine lines almost immediately when you examine your face and leaves skin soft.

Whether this is a temporary or just the start of even greater improvement is still new to me since I haven’t used this product all that long, but I am loving the way the serum is working on my face.  Check out Catherine Jinn’s Pro Bio-Placenta Essence and you’ll soon see what I mean with those youthful changes.

Thanks to Catherine Jinn, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States or Canada wins a full-size bottle of Pro Bio Placenta Essence ($73.97)!

How to Safely Clean Your Fine and Costume Jewelry!

pearls.jeg
Real pearls can't be treated the same way to clean as gemstones.

Sparkling gems flashing a ribbon of colors from within a jewelry box are something we can never get tired of. Yet, in time those precious gemstones, diamonds as well as any gold, silver, pearl or turquoise pieces that you love will eventually lose some of that shine and brilliance.  In order to return their beauty, you want to make sure to clean them properly like with these tips that I’m about to share.

Whether the dazzling stone is a diamond, gemstone, gold, silver or even more inexpensive pieces with rhinestone or crystal, all can be immersed in about a cup of warm water that you added a tablespoon of ammonia.  They don’t need to stay in the treated water long just briefly before wiping dry with a soft cloth. Since some jewelry such a rhinestone or a crystal brooch can be set in with a glue instead of held in place with prongs to secure it unlike a more costly, pronged piece, the stones could also loosen.
overflowing jewelry box.jpeg
Jewelry pieces vary and so do their cleaning methods.

Pearls need a different sort of tender loving care. Forgot about soaking them in any cleaner if you want them to maintain their luster because they are porous and could be damaged.  In fact, the skin’s natural oils benefit pearls and help make them more beautiful the more they’re worn. However, you still need to occasionally wipe them with a soft cloth that has a bit of a mild dish detergent only.

Turquoise and opal jewelry also need a gentle touch when cleaning since they too are porous stones.  Just wipe those off with soft cloth and a mild dish detergent is all that you should do to keep them in their best shape.

One last pointer that I have to care for your jewelry is remembering to finish your beauty ritual completely first before fastening or pinning jewelry on if you want to keep them in great condition.  Things like hair spray or perfumes can harm their beauty.  Therefore, follow this simple rule–jewelry last!

If you keep these jewelry care tips in mind, your jewelry will look as priceless as you do!
