Valentine’s Day "No-No's" You Want to Avoid

otter-valentine.jpeg
Happy Valentine's Day!

Being a romantic, the mention of Valentine’s Day can get my heart pounding.  The thoughts of celebrating that cherished feeling with your special someone is enough to make me giddy with pleasure, especially when you’re anticipating what could be in store this year.   My guy has come to be quite creative when it comes to doing the unexpected the more that we are together.  Likewise, I try to return that outpouring of love to surprise him as well.  Regardless of how perfect your relationship may be going, it is always best to remember that life occasionally likes to sabotage us when we least expect it.

Perhaps, he promised a romantic evening at a restaurant that is hard to get reservations for because he knew you wanted to go there for a long time.  He could be helping you into your coat or while in the car when his phone starts buzzing from work.  Instead of showing your anger that he forgot to turn off his phone as promised, try not to let your frustration show.   Try to put on a happy face and watch your body language even if he has to return home.

In some lines of work, people can be on call at all hours.  Yet, others simply need to set some ground rules that work stops past a certain hour, especially on important dates.  A sensitive Valentine won't criticize.  Be clever in how you subtly remind him of how you value each minute of your date time together.  Make him feel like the most important person in your life.

Another unintentional romance spoiler is planning your guy a perfect dinner when your power goes out due to a storm or an accident by someone driving into the pole with the power line.  Trust me, if you cook with electricity, need to do your hair and get a shower, this definitely ruins the mood.  No one wants to serve their honey a sandwich for Valentine’s Day, but a thoughtful Valentine has to be understanding.

Then again, you could be all set for a big romantic night that you have no idea where you’re going.  All you were told was to wear something fancy because he planned this escape weeks ago.  Of course, you went out and bought the perfect new dress when you learned of those plans about two weeks earlier.  As you start dressing, you suddenly notice that the same dress isn’t fitting exactly as it did in the store and is tighter.  You run for your shapewear, but even the spanx can’t hide those few sudden pounds that snuck up on you.  You feel horrible because your only option is wearing another dress.  Though it isn’t as fancy as your new one, a thoughtful Valentine tells you that you look just as beautiful in everything you wear.

Some other worthy mood killers are being ready to go out for your Valentine’s Day dinner when the babysitter suddenly can’t make it.  You call all your relatives and friends for backup without finding a babysitter.  As disappointing as it may be, a good Valentine knows how to make the best of any situation.  After all, you are with your Valentine, which is special just as it is.  A thoughtful Valentine is understanding and does what it takes to put a smile on your face and warm your heart.

Getting sick for Valentine’s Day is hardly anyone’s idea of a romantic evening.  Nonetheless, illness happens such as the flu.  Valentine’s Day plans may need to set aside.  It’s natural to feel disappointed, but a great Valentine is sympathetic and caring.  My advice is this is the time  to play nurse and later when the illness subsides is the perfect time to play doctor.

These are just a few bumps in the road to romance that can spoil your Valentine’s Day.  To all those Valentines, all that I’m saying is compassion, understanding, thoughtfulness, and compliments go a long way to keep the romance burning.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Some Loving Valentine’s Day Inspiration!

Valentine's Day place setting.jpeg
Put your loving touch to work this Valentine's Day!

I am a romantic and appreciate the candy, roses and jewelry that my guy takes the time to give me each Valentine’s Day along with a cozy, candle lit dinner at a nice restaurant or at home, depending on prior commitments. What I’m saying is that every couple celebrates this special day in their own way.  Here is what I like to do to start this holiday.

Before anyone else is up, I take care of my appearance first by getting dressed, perfumed and putting my makeup on. After all, you want to be attractive for your guy–-not just for one day but every day.  Sometimes, women can be too tired and forget the importance that a little grooming effort makes to keep your man’s attention focused on you.

It’s also fun to serve something to please your guy’s ravenous hunger when he appears for Valentine’s Day breakfast.  Therefore, I make sure to cook something to start this day off right with what I call Love Muffins, scrambled eggs with mushrooms and cheese, over a toasted English muffin.

He always gets a charge out of that breakfast entree once he sees those Love Muffins on his plate.  As silly as it may sound, I can see the love unfold in his eyes at this small, but  flirtatious  gesture.

Of course, you can’t let him leave the table without some kisses.  Strawberry kisses come next with a plate of fresh strawberries.  You may want to put your caressing fingers to work and feed him one at a time, but he will want to return the gesture while you tempt him with that sweet, red juice that always finds its way to your lips.

Though it may be harder for him to leave the table–-and you, taking some extra time for a quiet Valentine’s Day breakfast before the rest of the gang is up, will send him with thoughts of you and what’s in store for later.

I hope added a smile and fueled your inspiration this Valentine’s Day.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Recipe: Start Valentine’s Day Right and Treat Your Sweetie to a Plate of My Favorite Orange-Heart Waffles!

My Homemade Orange-Heart Shaped Waffles
My homemade favorite Orange-Heart Waffles

Show your Valentine a little extra love this morning with a plate of delicious, heart-shaped homemade orange waffles for breakfast.  They are light and bursting with orange flavor that can help give Valentine an energizing start to this special day.

Can you imagine your Valentine’s pleased face when the yummy smell starts filtering through the house? He will be rushing to find out what possibly be possibly so scrumptious that you are making.

Then once he finally digs in, he won’t be able to stop complimenting you for this thoughtful little way to show him how caring you are.  He will be beaming at you for this simple, but romantic gesture to make for a beautiful day.

For those that prefer a plain waffle, I have another incredible recipe to share.  You can top it with a decadent strawberry sauce.  Check out the photo.  I warn you that it will make you hungry.

My Favorite Orange Waffles

2 cups of sifted flour
2-1/2 tablespoons of sugar
3 teaspoons of baking powder, leveled
½ teaspoon of salt
4 eggs, slightly beaten
4 tablespoons of melted butter
1-1/3 cups of milk
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
3 tablespoons of grated orange rind
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

Sift the dry ingredients together in your mixing bowl.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, melted butter, and orange rind until mixed through.

Now take half of the dry ingredients and mix with an equal amount of the moistened ingredients from your second mixing bowl.

Beat well after combining until incorporating all the ingredients for a smooth batter.

Preheat and grease your waffle iron until the ready light comes on.

Pour about 3/4 cup of batter into your iron at a time.  (If the batter gets too thick, you can add a bit more milk and beat through).  Bake your waffles until golden brown or that iron light change colors.

ENJOY!

**CONTEST!**Sweeten His Look This Valentine's Day With American Crew Styling Products Review + ($55) Giveaway!--February 25, 2013

American Crew Styling Products.jpeg
American Crew styling products

Women aren't the only ones that care about their appearance.  Men also like to improve their packaging though they often don't like to admit it.  Just like us, they can be confused at times what styling products to use.  However, I was sent a variety of American Crew's hair styling products for men that I had my own guy test for this review and just in time for Valentine's Day!

Depending on how much hold you need, this company has a styling product to fit.  Forming Cream is a great place to start to gain a medium hold while helping hair to appear thicker with a bit more of a healthy shine.  This product with sucrose as a conditioning agent doesn't make hair look pasted down or hard either but somewhat softer to the touch.  My guy used a small amount after he towel-dried his fairly thick hair and it was enough to keep it in place while it also had movement.

The next day, I replaced that jar with their Pomade for him to try.  Being the good sport he is, my guy applied a little of the product after he showered and shampooed.  Though you can use these products on dry hair as well, his preference always runs the same way as mine, using on damp washed hair.

The Pomade had a creamy light texture he explained instead of any heavy, waxy feel.  This gave him a firmer pliable hold with an added shine for slicking back his hair for more of a wet look.  Running my hand over it, I noticed it was also was not sticky, crunchy, or greasy to the touch.

Another surprise awaited him when he looked at his dresser.  Once again I replaced the product and left him a replacement.  This time I gave him American Crew's Fiber to use.  He overdid it and ended up with spikes shooting from his hair. However, he teased me and intentionally styled his hair that way since this product enabled him to bend it without making it hard.

To keep him on his toes, I denied him another product and skipped a day of switching.  Usually, he was not one for styling products, but I wanted to see if he would try it again after his fun yesterday.  And once he joined me I noticed he arranged his hair slightly different but more into keeping with his classic style.  This time though it had more control and brilliance.

A good sign, I thought.  Nonetheless, I had one more product left for him to test.  I stole his Fiber and substituted Classic Ultramatte, a liquid styling product that gives hair a matte finish.  All I had left was to wait and see what my guy would do.  From the hallway, I saw him carefully read the new tube he picked up before working a small amount from the top to the ends.

I handed him the blow-dryer and pointed to the plug.  I gave him my brush and he worked his hair up into a Pompadour.  He nodded and then followed my direction.  The next time I came back into the room, I saw him admiring himself with his slightly tousled up thick hair that still looked classic enough for work only with more of a youthful modern edge.

Though he liked this product, I could tell he was debating about the loss of the shine.  I threw him a magazine showing the matte look was a big thing now for men.  I should never have done that because ever since he is fussing with his hair every opportunity now and demanding all his American Crew products returned plus even experimenting with some of mine.

Ladies, be careful in making your man realize his true handsome potential!  But yet, I have to admit he is looking sexier thanks to America Crew styling products.

To learn more do visit their website to find salons where to buy and their range of products.

Thanks to American Crew, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the continental United States wins all four American Crew styling products:  Classic Ultramatte (3.3 fl. oz.), Forming Cream (1.75 oz.), Fiber (1.75 oz.), and Pomade (3 oz.) for a total value of $55!

Harvey Prince Natural Perfumes Eau Flirt 3.4 Oz. Perfume & Soap Review + ($252) Giveaway! (2 Winners)--Ends February 15, 2013

Harvey Prince Flirt Eau de Toilette and Soap.jpeg
Harvey Prince Eau Flirt Eau de Toilette and Soap

Harvey Prince Natural Perfumes happens to be tops in my book for their fabulous line of fragrances formulated with specific purposes for each.  Though I adore every scent that I have sampled from this company, I am particularly in love with their first fragrance, Eau Flirt.  This one is what I consider the man magnet for its superpowers in drawing male attention your way.

Therefore, in hopes of making a love connection this Valentine's Day, the company was gracious enough to sponsor this giveaway where two win a set of their own Eau Flirt 3.4 oz. Eau de Toilette and luxurious Eau Flirt Soap to pamper skin with a veil of that enticing scented moisture.

Ladies, I must warn you first that Eau Flirt is serious male bait.  Notes of pumpkin pie,  sweet lavender, citrus, jasmine, freesia, ylang ylang, and delicately spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon, and ambers for subtle warmth turn this alluring fruity-floral fragrance into a stimulating blend that drives men crazy.

The scent has males within your vicinity soon swarming in your direction like bees to flowers once you're in their range.  Now that my conscience is clear as to what may happen when wearing Eau Flirt, I hope you pick up this fragrance to spark up your Valentine's Day.  However, use with caution because it does work!

*Disclaimer:  This is my own honest opinion.  Free products were provided solely to facilitate this review.*

Thanks to Harvey Prince Natural Perfumes, two lucky Nuts 4 Stuff readers in the United States or Canada can win a 3.4 oz. Eau Flirt Eau de Toilette Spray and an 8 oz. Eau Flirt Dermastase Bar Soap for a value of $126 per set!

Edamame Crunch Dark Chocolate Bar

Though typical chocolate bars are far from being smart food choices for your health and figure, I must confess that sweet confection is a guilty pleasure of mine.  Whether it is milk or dark chocolate, I find it hard to resist.  Until I discovered Seapoint Farms Edamame Crunch Milk and Dark Chocolate Bars sent to me for this review and giveaway launched under the PRAIM Group, I was unaware how deliciously you can satisfy that chocolate craving in a better-for-you bar.

The Edamame Crunch is a gourmet chocolate bar with dry roasted edamame for a tempting sweet with salty flavor with 10 grams of soy protein to each 3.5 oz. bar!

The edamame gives this smooth natural premium chocolate an amazing nut like type of crunch to compliment either their Edamame Crunch Milk Chocolate with its 34% cocoa or that decadent Edamame Crunch Dark Chocolate with its 55% cocoa.  If you had been unable to eat peanuts due to allergies, you now can satisfy that longing for peanuts in your chocolate with soy protein in each bar as a wonderful substitute.

As I indulged, I found the velvety richness of these bars was incredible along with edamame, adding to my eating pleasure with that bit of salty crunch from sea salt, mingling with that chocolate.  Edamame Crunch Dark Chocolate now is my new obsession with how those flavors really went together for a slightly less sweet delight.

While both Edamame Crunch bars would satisfy any chocolate lovers cravings, I can tell you they also were filling.  These bars would be perfect to refuel when you lack time but need something to get you through your morning or afternoon without leaving you starving like a regular chocolate bar. These would be also a sweet gesture to give your sweetie this Valentine's Day.  Shop for Edamame Crunch and show some love.

Thanks to the PRAIM Group and Seapoint Farms Edamame Crunch, one lucky Nuts 4 Stuff reader in the United States or Canada wins an assortment of 6 Edamame Crunch Milk Chocolate 3.5 oz. bars and 6 Edamame Crunch Dark Chocolate 3.5 oz. Bars for a $40 value!

Rimmel London's Stay Glossy Lip Glosses (#640 All Day Seduction, #340 Captivate Me, #540 Timeless Allure) Review--Photos--Swatches!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Rimmel London's Stay Glossy Lip Glosses.jpeg
Starting at the bottom by my thumb is #340 Captivate Me, #640 All Day Seduction (middle), and ending with #540 Timeless Allure of Rimmel's Stay Glossy Lip Glosses.

We are all passionate about certain types of cosmetics.  I happen to think a woman can never have too many tubes of lipstick or gloss to pretty up a mouth with tempting juicy color to invite kisses.  Therefore, I singled out some exciting shades of Rimmel London's Stay Glossy Lip Gloss ideally suited for Valentine's Day seduction!

Take #340 Captivate Me, a gorgeous and moisturizing medium pink/mauve that will give even the palest skin enough beautiful shimmering color to work your charm on him.  This slick gloss wears well, stays within your lip line, and even lasted through a cup of coffee and lunch without making it necessary to put more on.

In the below photo, I am modeling #340 Captivate Me.

On the other hand, #640 All Day Seduction, is just that, being a rosy-peach with what looks like some gold beaming throughout.  This one is so innocently sexy and yet healthy looking to make your mouth as appealing as a juicy peach dripping with ripe tones of pink and gold.  Wearing this one, my favorite of the three, could wet his appetite and cause your lips to be nibbled upon because they will look that tasty.

This next photo is #640 All Day Seduction.  What do you think?

Then again, if you feel you want deeper color, I thought #540 Timeless Allure, was a sheer red-berry shade that will make him take notice.  Although it looks darker in the tube, it glides on much lighter and has stunning pigmentation to leave your lips with what he might consider an excited red flush.

In this last photo, here I am wearing #540 Timeless Allure.

Seriously, I think these Rimmel London Stay Glossy Lip Glosses have a lot going for them.  They're comfortable, not overly sticky, last for hours (at least five), stay put without landing up over your teeth or mouth to spoil your face like some others I have tried, the pigmentation seems right on, great color selection, and inexpensive price.  Need I say more?  I say charge to your drugstore and pick some up so you also can prepare to dazzle him with your beauty this Valentine's Day or any day!

Simple Ways To Turn Up The Heat This Valentine's Day!

Are you searching for a way to fire up the romance this Valentine's Day?  If so, I have a few tips to set the mood for that perfect day.

Become his alarm clock and wake him up on Valentine's Day morning with the power of your kisses!  (Of course, you need to get up ahead of time to do your makeup and teeth and become so tempting that he won't be unable to resist pulling you back into bed as you slowly and expertly deliver them, covering your lover in kisses from head to toe.  Depending on how much time you have until work, you might want to wake up a bit earlier than it takes to get glamorous because he probably won't let you go.)

If your lover is the shy type when it comes to taking his shower, then I have a nice tip to send him off this Valentine's Day.  Warm his towel with your blow dryer and as he comes out of the shower, wrap him in cozy comfort.  Watch his eyes light up as you pamper him over with this simple loving touch.

On the other hand, I suggest start Valentine's Day right and just jump into that shower can also be a fun way to begin celebrating!

The workplace can be tricky.  However, you might be able to send a flirty text or demand an urgent after-hours appointment (if you get my drift) for later.  Do watch emails and don't get over descriptive because some businesses do monitor email messages!

Now I hope I gave you some fun inspiration and a great jump start to making a memorable Valentine's Day!

Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolate Truffles assortment.jpeg
Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolate Truffles assortment

Dark and decadently rich chocolate is what can drive a woman to ultimate bliss.  The thought of the creamy sweetness of quality chocolate can take some of us nearly over the edge with passion.  And I must admit, the selection of imported Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates that I received for this review and giveaway was a very tempting way to seduce this lady.

I was sent a giant bar of their Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate,  assortments of their Belgian Chocolates and Chocolate Truffles.  These luxurious chocolates I sampled are sinfully delicious as you savor their smooth, silky taste. They are all made of 100% pure cocoa butter for the best chocolate possible, which I can attest to!  I must say you can taste the love in this chocolate created from the original recipe of the married chocolate makers, Guy & Liliane because it does come through with every incredible bite.

Harvey Prince two fragrances.jpeg
Eau Lite and Eau de Creme fragrances

Become so tempting this Valentine's Day that instead of chocolate, YOU will be his new sweet treat with a little inspiration from Harvey Prince Natural Perfumes like the two fragrances I received for this review and giveaway.

If you want his heart to beat faster and his palms to sweat as soon as you near, then Eau de Lite can help you become utterly delectable with peppermint, green apple, vanilla, spearmint, fennel, jasmine, rose, and sandalwood.   This is such a fresh, delicious fragrance that will make you the new candy he nibbles on.  You got my word on that one, ladies!

Eau De Creme is another sweet scent sensation to heat up your Valentine.  This is a gourmand/fruity type of fragrance with bright pink passion fruit mingling with rum raisin, citrus, vanilla, patchouli, and chocolate that he won't be able to stop craving once you wear it.  It's romantic, playful, and just a bit daring to spark his desire.

Trust me, but both Eau de Lite and Eau de Creme will make you irresistible.

Guys, instead of all those calories and high fat content of candy, I highly recommend giving her either of those two scents this Valentine's Day.  In fact, Eau de Lite that is ripe with the scent of juicy green apple among those other luscious notes is my particular favorite with the way it sets your senses into overdrive while also helping curb the appetite.  What more could your lady want from this perfect perfume?

Thanks to Harvey Prince Natural Perfumes, two lucky winners in the United States or Canada win the following fragrances:  First Prize: a full-size bottle of Eau de Lite (1.7 fl. oz.)--$55;  Second Prize: a full-size bottle of Eau de Creme (1.7 fl. oz)--$55

Balance Bar Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment.jpeg
Balance Bar Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment

Just mention chocolate and my mouth begins to water.  In fact, I eat it practically every day when I add some unsweetened cocoa to the water (a tablespoon) as I cook oatmeal for breakfast.  Adding a little peanut butter to that plain chocolate oatmeal in your bowl with a spoon or two of sugar makes it taste like a candy bar.  Therefore, you can understand why I welcomed this invitation to do a review and giveaway with Balance Bar and their Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment with my obsession for anything healthy and chocolate!

You don't have to feel guilty once you grab one of these inside this Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment since each delicious 1.76 oz. bar is low-cal at 200 calories and loaded with 14 grams of protein to keep you energized and satisfied.  In addition, you can enjoy a healthy treat while also getting 23 vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and vitamin D to keep you strong.

You will love all eight different varieties of chocolate that this Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment from the Caramel Nut Blast, Chocolate Craze (my favorite one with chocolate chips and chocolate coating over more chocolate), Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cookie Dough, Double Chocolate Brownie, S'mores (second favorite with graham cracker a bit of marshmallow filling and covered with chocolate), and Triple Chocolate Chaos (a tie for second place that reminds you of chocolate with chocolate fudge and topped with milk chocolate).

Seriously, if chocolate is your passion, then you will love this assortment.  I enjoyed all the flavors really and found it hard to really narrow it done since they all tasted rich and brimming with chocolate like a candy bar--not a protein bar!

Do check Balance Bar out and show that love with this amazing healthier selection of chocolates with Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment this Valentine's Day!

Thanks to Balance Bar, three lucky Nuts 4 Stuff readers in the United States win a Balance-tine Day Chocolate Gift Assortment!
