How to Get a Sexy Pout to Your Lips in Time for Valentine’s Day

smiling-woman-showing-her-teeth.jpeg
Try this makeup tip before you're nearly ready to go out.

As we age, our lips lose volume.  Of course, you can buy a lip volumizing product that can temporarily cause the lips to swell to mimic that sexy fullness.  Yet, there is even a quicker way that I thought you might want to try, especially timely with Valentine’s Day closing in.

What I suggest is getting a fresh wash cloth or new toothbrush and start dry brushing your lips just before you are about to apply your lip color.  This gentle form of roughing up the lips will bring blood to the surface resulting in fuller, more vivid colored lips.

To further enhance that natural swelling, try grabbing a nude lip liner and dotting over the bow of your top lip instead of penciling in a definite line. Those strategically placed nude dots that lightly connect along the peaks soften the line, giving the lips more of a sexy pout before finishing with your favorite lipstick or gloss.

Avon True Color Lipsticks and True Color Nourishing Lipsticks Review + Swatches

avon-lipsticks.jpeg
From left to right is Carnation, Rose Dew, Spiced Apricot, Toasted Rose, Proper Pink, Sparkling Mauve, Cherry Blossm, Wild Ginger, Country Rose, Rich Rum, Perfect Red, Red 2000, and Brown Sugar.

I consider lipstick a beauty essential.  The right color can flatter your face, compliment your outfit and make an amazing difference in the comfort of your lips.  The way I see it is you can never have too many lipsticks.  Therefore, I was pleased when a box of Avon lipsticks showed up at my door.

lipstick-swatches.jpeg
Starting by my wrist and going down is Cherry Blossom, Country Rose, Wild Ginger, Sparkling Mauve, Red 2000, Brown Sugar, Rose Dew, Toasted Rose, Carnation, Proper Pink, Rich Rum, Spiced Apricot, and Perfect Red.

This assortment mostly consisted of Avon’s True Color Lipstick line of satins and shimmers.  Besides stunning color, these have vitamin E, omega-3 oil and shea butter in their formula for moisturizing lips.

Out of the forty shades from that line, I got Carnation (mauve-pink), Rose Dew (soft plum-brown), Spiced Apricot (pink-brown), Toasted Rose (warm pink), Proper Pink, (pale cool pink) Sparkling Mauve (mauve-plum), Wild Ginger (orange-red), Country Rose (strawberry-pink), Rich Rum (brown), Perfect Red (brick red), and Red 2000 (cherry-red).

The True Color Lipsticks have a light scent that reminds me of cherries.  They spread nicely and felt smooth with a comforting feel for about two hours.  Afterwards, the initial moisture seemed to disappear into my lips while the color stayed intact.

I also found two of the True Color Nourishing Lipsticks that have SPF 15 and a deeper moisturizing system due to natural oils and conditioners such as vitamin E and jojoba oil built into the formula.

I received Cherry Blossom (pink-red) and Brown Sugar (rust-brown), but there are eight more shades in the line.  These did keep my lips feeling moisturized longer than the original True Color Lipsticks.  In fact, the more times that I used them, the softer my lips felt.  I also liked the SPF protection in the formula.

You can find both the True Color and True Color Nourishing Lipsticks at Avon’s website.  They retail for $8.00 each.  Check them out!

Rouge Bunny Rouge Tinted Lip Balms Review + Swatches

two-tinted-lip-balms.jpeg
On the left is Specks of Cherise with Sip of Pink on the right.

Winter weather can really do a number on the condition of our lips.  As a result, I am never without lipsticks, lip gloss and lip balms.  These are staples to add color as well as keeping my lips from drying out.  However, I had never tried any lip balms from luxury beauty brand, Rouge Bunny Rouge, until two of their Dazzling Sip Tinted Luxe Balms arrived.

swatches- of-two-tinted-lip-balms.jpeg
Here I swatched both lip balms for you with Specks of Cherise (left) and Sip of Pink (right).

The line of three includes Sip of Pink (raspberry pink tone with some warmth to the shade), Specks of Cherise (deeper, but sheer berry-red on the order of crimson-red cherries) and Pinch of Nude (light beige nude with gold).  Each lip balm retails for $31.00.

These lip balms have a lip treatment, color and anti-aging skin care built into the formula. You may think this sounds pretty much what any lip balm promises.  I was of that opinion at first.

Yet, this product has an Ecocert-approved active complex for hydration with sunflower oil among its other oils and waxes that does exceptional restoration for hurting lips while delivering flattering color in a lightweight formula. My lips felt smoothed, comforted and quenched for a longer period while staying beautiful without the feel of any heavy, waxiness to them.

If you’re torn between lipstick to beautify and lip balm for its soothing moisture, then look no more because Rouge Bunny Rouge Tinted Lip Balms solve that problem. Check them out because this lip caring formula makes winter weather bearable again!

Glo Skin Beauty Suede Matte and Creamy Lip Crayons Review + Swatches: The Extra Holiday Glam You May Be Looking for

four suede matte crayons.jpeg
On the left is Crimson, then Monogram, Demure, and ending with Bombshell on the right.

The holidays are a time when you’ll be  visiting friends and family making the rounds to parties and celebrations.  With all that toasting and nibbling ahead, long-lasting lip color that doesn’t require constant touch-ups is especially important.  A suggestion I have for you is Glo Skin Beauty’s Suede Matte and Creamy Glaze Lip Crayons that I got to try.

These mineral-based lip crayons are enriched with vitamins C and E, mango oil and shea butter for keeping lips comfortable.  Besides a beautiful color payoff, these lip products tend to wear like a stain.

The earlier ones came with a sharpener at one end, but no longer do.  You need to use a separate sharpener.

The Suede Matte Crayons consist of seven shades and retail for $18.00 each.  I received the following four: Monogram (medium nude that has equal amount of pink to brown), Bombshell (classy red that is more neutral than swaying toward a blue or orange red), Demure (mauve-pink), and Crimson (red brown with pink).

swatches-of-lip-crayons.jpeg
Going right to left is Demure, Mimosa, Crimson, Praline, Dahila,Bombshell, Bloom, Monogram, and Heirloom .

I thought these matte crayons had a moisturizing feel on the lips and not nearly as dry as other matte formulas can be.  They do sink into the lips after about an hour or so but that luscious velvet color is perfectly intact despite eating or drinking.

The Creamy Glaze Crayons have a shinier, glossy look to them.  Out of the six becoming shades, I was sent five that include: Heirloom (gorgeous mauve-pink), Bloom (lilac-pink), Dahila (medium violet-pink), Mimosa (warm pink with some coral), and Praline (light gold infused brown).

five-creamy-glaze-crayons.jpeg
Starting on the left is Praline, Heirloom, Mimosa, Dahila, and ending with Bloom on the right.

These feel wonderful, stay in place and also manage to remain on the lips after eating and drinking.  You'll appreciate how they manage to keep up with you for hours on end.

Another thing I loved about these lip crayons is how extra convenient their slim size makes them for fitting into a tiny evening bag.  If you haven’t tried Glo Skin Beauty’s Suede Matte or Creamy Glaze Lip Crayons yet, I think that you’ll really like the feel and wear of these.  Check them out!

Au Naturale Cosmetics Lips That Shine Holiday Gift Set Review – Vibrant Lip Glam to Dress Up the Holidays

eternity-lipstick.jpeg
This is one of those perfect reds with enough pink for most complexions to carry it off.

My feeling is beauty is even better if you don’t have to worry about the safety of the makeup that you put on your face.  Au Naturale Cosmetics meets the bill with no synthetic preservatives, nano particles, parabens, fillers, dyes, gluten, or animal bi-products in their healthier, toxic-free organic makeup.

Earlier on, I reviewed their cream foundations, cream blushes and cream bronzers, which I really liked for performance and convenience to simplify doing your makeup when rushed.  However, I never sampled any of their lips products until this Lips That Shine Holiday Gift Set arrived.

The set includes Eternity Lipstick in VIP ($25), a statement making red-pink and High Luster Lip Gloss ($18.00) in Opulence to finish the lips with an opal luster that is luminous.

This lipstick feels smooth  and cushions the lips in moisturizing comfort for a few hours until I needed to reapply after eating.  It is creamy, but does have a slight waxiness to it.

high-luster-lip-gloss.jpeg
This gloss can work magic over top any lipstick with its magic.

A gorgeous effect was using the High Luster Lip Gloss that I applied over top that lipstick.  It was like coating my lips with liquid reflective pearls.  It is not too heavy, sticky or greasy, but wonderfully in between.

Starting on November 15, 2017, Au Naturale’s Holiday Gift Sets like this Lips That Shine will be available at Whole Foods, Amazon or at Au Naturale’s website.  Check it out because it makes an ideal way to glam up for holiday parties or give as a gift.

Exciting Fall 2017 Lip and Nail Color Inspiration from Rimmel and Sally Hansen

*Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Sally-Hansen-nail-polishes.jpeg
Going from left to right is Society Ruler, Ruby Do and ending with Slicks and Stones.

For both Rimmel London and Sally Hansen, plum is the word to show off lips and nails this season.  From a brighter raspberry-infused plum to a vampy eggplant purple, Rimmel has Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours in Plum This Show (810) and Midnight (800) to create that ideal velvety matte smoothness that is so popular.

two-Rimmel-Stay-Matte-Lip-Colours.jpeg
On the left is Midnight with Plum This Show on the right.

Nails are treated to the same rich degree of bold color with Sally Hansen’s Salon Manicure Ruby Do (490) and Society Ruler (418)Ruby Do is a sophisticated wine with underlying red that is gorgeous especially against paler skin once tans begin fading.  Society Ruler is a dark plum that almost reminds me of grape jelly.  In the Color Therapy line, you might want to try Slicks and Stones (390), which is an exciting dark purple with multi-colored shimmers.

Whatever your favorite plum preference happens to be, here are some great inexpensive choices to play up your lips and nails.  My advice is to check out these particular shades in their Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours, Salon Manicure and Color Therapy nail polish lines at your local drugstores or wherever you shop for Rimmel and Sally Hansen products.

Are You Searching for a Way to Volumize Thin Lips Without Using a Plumping Product?

business woman with thin lips.jpeg
This beauty listens intently.

As we age, we lose lip volume. If you are starting to notice that your lips are less plush than they used to be, lip plumping products are one way.  Yet, you might not care for the stinging effect due to the slight swelling they may cause.

Changing your technique when applying lip color is another way that you can build up lip volume.  You might want to start by lightening up from an extremely dark lipstick shade to a medium range shade.  This slightly lighter color won’t make the lips appear so narrow.

lipstick line.jpeg
Play with a range of lipstick colors.

After you apply the lipstick, then you want to take a tissue and carefully wipe some of it  from the middle of your top lip, just below the cupid’s bow.  To make up for removing some of that color, you need to pull out your lipstick stash again and replace what is missing with a pale color lipstick.

You’ll notice the subtle difference of how the center of your lips seemed to gain plumpness through switching out color in that area once you rub your lips together!

I also shared another makeup tip for volumizing lips that uses foundation, concealer and white pencil that you might want to try as well.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Colour Burst Lipsticks (The Plot Thickens, Irreverence), Sheer Lipstick (Perfume of His Gaze) and Long-Lasting Lip Pencil (Roald) Review + Swatches!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

modeling Perfume of His Gaze lipstick.jpeg
Here I'm modeling Perfume of His Gaze Sheer Lipstick.

Summer is when we  take a break from too intense lip color and switch to lighter shades that can go well with our tans.  Therefore, I want to show you some beautiful lipsticks and liner choices from luxury beauty brand, Rouge Bunny Rouge, that can work some magic, especially this time of year to bring out your beauty.

The Colour Burst Lipsticks ($29) glide, depositing conditioning moisture from their special plant-based ingredient, Volulip and shea butter in a formula without parabens, which is nice to know when dryness can be a problem in some brands.

Irreverence lipstick.jpeg
This is the shade of Irreverence.

Irreverence is described on the company’s website as creamy natural rosy-pink.  Some pale colors can have a tendency to wash me out being I am fair to light.  However, this shade was a far superior pink-nude with the excellent balance of rosiness to offset the nude color.  It’s a perfect choice for me now, but the more bronzer I put on or sun that my complexion gets, the prettier this shade looks.

The Plot Thickens Lipstick.jpeg
This one is The Plot Thicken Colour Burst Lipstick.

The second Colour Burst Lipstick I tried was The Plot Thickens.  It is a creamy pale rosy, nude-beige.  I found this one slightly too pale, having more baby pink and soft beige to make it work for my coloring.  It looked better when I added more color with a bronzer.  Yet, I think this particular shade would best compliment those with a medium and especially deeper complexions the most.

The Sheer Lipstick ($29) is anti-aging and a moisturizing formula with hilurlip and rosehip butter that doesn’t bog lips down with heavy ingredients.  This formula has plenty of color, but it is not a thick, heavy appearing stain.  At the same time, it is not a see through color, but just nicely in between with its richness.

Perfume of His Gaze.jpeg
This is Perfume of His Gaze, which looks darker in the tube than on lips.

Perfume of His Gaze is a cool-toned rosy taupe that honestly will look good on all complexions, whether bronzed or not, all year round.  The rose, mauve and brown tones that compose this color are fascinating with depth without being dark in its many facets.

swatches of lipsticks and lip pencil.jpeg
Starting on the left is The Plot Thickens, Perfume of His Gaze, Irreverence, and Roald lip pencil on the right.

I also tried Long-Lasting Lip Pencil ($24) in Roald.  This is a creamy formula that doesn’t tug when using it and does a wonderful job for outlining lips.  Roald is a light mauve that went well for these choices.

Roald lip pencil.jpeg
The Roald Lip Pencil is a versatile choice that you can't go wrong with.

If you’re looking to build upon your summer lipstick wardrobe, you might want to think about these Rouge Bunny Rouge lipsticks and lip pencil as choices!

Laura Geller Fifty Kisses Lip Locking Liquid Color (Beige Bite, Pink Pucker) Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Fifty Kisses lip color.jpeg
Beige Bite is on the left with Pink Pucker on the right.

When you’re busy and hate needing to retouch your lipstick at the office after that first cup of coffee, you want a dependable lip color that won’t disappoint.  Well, I tried Laura Geller Fifty Kisses Lip Locking Liquid Lip Color and was amazed at how extra long this product can last without drying the lips out due to its special proprietary polymers complex.

This lip color does not have any parabens or mineral oils that you need to worry about.  This product has beneficial lip soothing sunflower extract, apricot butter, and almond oil.

I received two from the eight shades in the line with Beige Bite (medium pink nude) and a bolder color with the Pink Pucker (vibrant red-pink).  These are more pigmented than you may expect and glide on to give the lips a creamy, satin-matte finish.

For a long-wearing lipstick, I was pleasantly shocked what a trooper Laura Geller’s Fifty Kisses Lip Locking Liquid Color was for how long it kept up with me and my day.  It didn’t feather, smear or seem to transfer despite my addiction for coffee.  I did add some clear lip balm later in the day just to lube my lips up a tad more.

Have you experienced Laura Geller’s Fifty Kisses Lip Locking Liquid Color ($21) yet?  You don’t know what you’re missing until you do!

PUR Cosmetics Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks (Fever, Passion) Review--Are These the Perfect Mattes for you?

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks.jpeg
On the left is Passion with the Fever shade on the right.

Lipstick has always been a beauty staple for me as it is for most of us.  I think that it is a quick way to add some instant glam to your look.  PUR Cosmetics sent me two tubes of their Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks from their line of 10 shades with Passion and Fever.

These cruelty-free lipsticks retail for $18 a piece and come with a doe-foot applicator. They are totally vegan as well as manufactured completely free of parabens, which makes you feel even better when buying that no animals were harmed for the sake of beauty.

The colors also are extremely pigmented and do seem to glide on almost like butter instead of liquid lipstick with no detectable scent.

Fever is a deep red brown shade, almost bordering on an vampy, oxblood color.  The problem that I found with this shade was that it accentuated the smallest bit of lip dryness.  This color also seems harder to spread, clinging to concentrate more on certain parts of the lip than others.

The next time that I tried that deep red shade, I made it a point to exfoliate my lips first.  Still, I experienced about the same amount of the problem.

On the other hand, I had a stunning victory with Passion.  This shade is a medium pink with some purple to it that is simply lovely.  It spread much better without any clinging to any lip dryness like the dark red and felt comfortable while leaving my lips with a great creamy matte finish that wore well through my day.

Have you tried any of these PUR Cosmetics Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks yet?  If not, check them out and tell me which ones that you tried!

Three Essential Lipsticks That You Should Own to Change Up Your Look!

line of lipsticks.jpeg
This post can help you organize and save money without sacrificing your beauty!

I love discovering all the latest makeup displays, comparing favorite shades and brands at cosmetic counters.  Lip products can be especially hard to resist when you see fresh testers almost calling to you once you spot them.  For some unexplainable reason, a new perfect shade of lipstick can magically do wonders for a woman’s spirit to make her feel prettier, more confident and even sexier.  As a result, we all probably end up with lots more lipsticks and glosses than we really need just because that shopping high was so much fun.

How to Get More Plumping Power Out of Lip Plumping Products!

lips.jpeg
Before you buy your next lip plumping product, I hope you keep my tip in mind!

Lip plumping products are wonderful when you need to build up small or aging lips.  Though only a temporary effect, hyaluronic acid, cinnamon and menthol are just a few among other such ingredients to look for that can increase volume by mildly irritating the lips.  However, if you’re wondering why those lip plumpers aren’t always delivering better results, you could be wrongfully blaming products when it could be a simple mistake on your part.

There is a trick to keep in mind if you want to get the best results when using these products. What you need to remember is that your lips need to be clean and completely dry first if you want them to work.

Try this the next time you reach for that lip plumper and you’ll be happier with your lips!
