Recipe: My Spicy Choco-Apple Bars Recipe Is a Delicious Way to Put Those Apples to Good Use!

Spicy Choco-Apple bar.jpeg
A Spicy Choco-Apple Bar

My Spicy Choco-Apple Bars combines a few of my favorite flavors of apples, chocolate and spices in these moist, fruity bars.  This recipe is also another easy one that hardly requires much effort except for basic assembling of the ingredients, a bit of mixing, and peeling a few apples. The truth is the hardest part of making my bars will be waiting for them to come out of your oven!

I hope that when you are in the mood to bake and have apples on hand that you will want to print my recipe and give it a try because it is sinfully good.

My Spicy Choco-Apple Bars

½ cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
2 large eggs
1-1/4 cups of flour
1 cup of rolled oats
1 teaspoon of baking powder, leveled
½ teaspoon of baking soda, leveled
½ teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
½ teaspoon of ground cloves
½ teaspoon of nutmeg
1-1/2 cups of peeled, finely diced apples (about four small apples)

Cream the butter with your sugar throughly.

Add your eggs next into that mixing bowl with the sugar-butter mixture and beat again.

In another mixing bowl, sift all the dry ingredients together except the oats.

Stir in the oats along with the moist ingredients to the sifted dry ones until everything is well combined.

Add the finely chopped apples last to the batter and pour into a well-greased 12-3/4" x 9" x 2" baking pan and bake in a 375-degree oven for about 25 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated.  Test if done with a toothpick.

Cool slightly before attempting to cut into bars.

ENJOY!

Recipe: For a Delicious Change of Pace Try My Sensational Apple-Custard Pie!

A Piece of my Apple-Custard Pie.jpeg
With this recipe, you get to enjoy two sensational pies in one--custard pie and traditional apple pie!  This is a win, win, win, don't  you agree?

When I used to have my apple tree, I made so many wonderful cakes, pies, cookies, etc. because I was never one to let such goodness go to waste when possible.  My Apple-Custard Pie recipe that I want to share with you is something a little different.  Instead of all fruit of a traditional fruit-packed apple pie, my recipe combines a sweet, rich custard that is lightly spiced with diced apples.  The result is delectable!

Besides how delicious this pie is, it is also so simple to make.  The hardest part is peeling the apples since you’re basically mixing the ingredients together once you partially cook the chopped apple first in the microwave to soften before adding to your unbaked pie shell.

For your pie crust, I do hope that you try my oil-pie crust recipe because it honestly is foolproof even if you never made pie dough before.  In fact, this is the ONLY pie crust recipe that you will ever see me share with you because it is the BEST when it comes to ease and tender, flaky crust.

One other thing that I want to mention is this recipe can be adapted for whatever variety of apple that you have on hand.  Though tart apples are what I used to use, you can also use a sweeter apple because I tried this with delicious apples that were starting to shrivel up in my refrigerator just by adjusting the sugar and reducing it by about one-fourth cup.

Try my recipe sometimes because I think that you will enjoy it.

My Apple-Custard Pie

unbaked 9" pie crust
4 medium tart apples, peeled and diced (about 3 cups)
2 cups of evaporated milk
2 large eggs
3/4 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of flour

After your apples are peeled and diced, cook to soften them in your microwave on high for about five minutes.  Set aside.

Prepare your favorite pie crust and press the dough into a nine-inch, greased pie pan.

Add the milk, sugar, spices, vanilla, eggs, flour, salt, and apples into a mixing bowl and combine.

Pour into your waiting, unbaked crust and bake in a 400-degree oven for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350-degrees and continue baking for about 20-30 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated.

Test to see if it is done by inserting a toothpick or a slender knife to see if anything sticks.

Cool and then refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

ENJOY!

Delight Family and Guests With My Applesauce Surprise Cake!

When I had my apple tree, I enjoyed constantly experimenting with new recipes to take advantage of my crop.  During the apple season that delicious scent of cinnamon and apples baking or stewing on the stove would always be present at my house.  A particular favorite recipe was this unusual applesauce cake of mine that I want to share with you today.

What makes this cake so unique is the surprise ingredient of grated carrots to those fragrant spices and the applesauce, which gives this bundt cake more moistness and added natural sweetness for a spectacular tasting cake that is easy to prepare, healthier with just a mere one-fourth cup of canola oil, and has fewer calories than typical applesauce cakes.

This cake does not need any icing or sprinkling of confectioners' sugar to complete it.  It is just fine served plain.

I hope you try my cake because it is awesome--and meant to be shared!

Do check out my No-Fail Applesauce Cake as well.  This recipe makes an excellent sheet cake with raisins and chopped nuts.

My Applesauce Surprise Cake

2 cups of flour
1 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking soda, leveled
1-1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of applesauce
1/4 cup of canola oil
3 large eggs
3 cups of coarsely grated, peeled carrots

Sift all your dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl (flour, sugar, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt).

Add the applesauce, oil, and vanilla and stir in next to blend well.

Add the eggs, one at a time next, to those moistened ingredients.  This will be a thick batter.

Beat your batter until it is smooth, then stir in the carrots and mix well.

Pour the batter into your greased bundt cake or tube pan.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 1 hour and 7-10 minutes or so.  (This really depends on how your oven temperature is regulated).

Use a cake tester or a slender knife inserted in the center to test if anything sticks.

Cool the pan for at least minutes before attempting to remove it.  Taking out a hot cake too soon from the pan will cause it to break in pieces.

ENJOY!

Recipe: You Will Hunger for My Delicious Fresh Apple Cake Once You Taste It!

apples-for-cake.jpeg
Apples are delicious and great to bake with.

Fall is the perfect season to take advantage of apples. Today, I want to share my favorite recipe for a fantastic fresh apple cake that is moist and chalked full of fruit, nuts, and cinnamon.

Besides how divine this tastes, you'll like how simple this is to make because  no creaming  is involved!  This recipe uses oil and requires just a minimum of effort, which endears it even more to my heart.

I can't also stress what your home will smell like as this cake in your oven releases its delicious, welcoming aroma of cinnamon and apples to scent the air.  Trust me, but this scent permeates the rooms better than any commercial product with such incredible goodness.

I used to make this recipe quite often when I had still had my apple tree.  Those luckily enough to have apple trees may want to save this recipe because it is a keeper!

If you love the taste of apple like we do, I think you would enjoy sampling this cake.  I hope you try it.

My Fresh Apple Cake

1-3/4 cups of flour
1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 cup of canola oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 cup of milk
2 cups of chopped, pared apples (any variety)
1/4 teaspoon of salt

Cake Topping:

1/2 cup brown sugar (packed of either light or brown variety)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons of margarine (not spread)
2 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

For the cake:

Sift together the 1-3/4 cups of flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into your mixing bowl.

Combine the oil, egg, milk, and vanilla.  Add these mixed liquid ingredients to those dry ingredients in that mixing bowl.

No electric mixer is required.  Stir until well blended with your wooden spoon and then add your chopped apples.

Pour the cake batter into a greased pan approximately 10" square.  I usually make this one in a Corning dish of that size since I can refrigerate it later in the same dish with a cover.  If it lasts, you can later pop it in the microwave to freshen it up.  However, I doubt you have any cake left once the family smells it.

For the topping:

Using your hands, mix the margarine with your brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Toss in your walnuts and mix again until well combined.

Then top over your cake.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
