How You Cleanse Your Face Matters Just As Much As Product If You’re Longing for a More Beautiful Complexion!

Dark-haired pretty woman in white.jpeg
This beauty knows a bit of  knowledge makes the difference for glowing, flawless skin.

No matter how much you pay for your facial cleanser, you are shortchanging your complexion if you are cleansing in the wrong way.  In order to help your skin thrive, you should keep a few things in mind first. These few changes can improve the look and health of your complexion more than you may realize.

Regardless of the formula of your cleanser, you need to remember that piling it on to dislodge your grime and makeup is never a good idea.  The less concentrated those ingredients, the better off your skin will be.

For your skin’s optimal health, get into the habit of always diluting a small amount of your liquid cleanser with some water first instead of applying too much of the product.  By doing so, you treat your complexion more gently and help the pores breathe instead of possibly risk suffocating them with any remaining product residue, grime, and makeup that could linger and cause any adverse reaction.

Cleansing your complexion too often is a big mistake.  If you have dry skin, it can add to the dryness. If you have an oily complexion and are under the impression that cleansing your face often is going to help, then what you are doing is stimulating your skin’s oil production instead, only to make your complexion greasier. Your goal is cleansing your face no more than twice a day.

Something else that is equally important is the way you rinse that cleanser off.  One quick splash of water to rinse after cleansing is hardly enough.  You need to rinse the cleanser thoroughly.  Give yourself at least 10-15 splashes to help break those ingredients down with the final splash of cool water to close the pores.

I hope that you try these recommendations because they will help your complexion  and pave a path to true beauty!

How Well Are You Really Removing Your Makeup?

When it comes to taking off makeup, we want the fastest way possible to get it off.  This usually means using a cleanser that rinses off everything from your face with water in one step.  However, if you wear lots of heavy foundations or waterproof formulated eye cosmetics, you may not be getting as completely free of those products as you think.

According to my dermatologist, the best insurance in caring for your skin and properly removing cosmetics is by using an oil-based remover.  The next step is following up with a gentle soap or a face wash and water.

Though it sounds simple enough, you still could be washing the wrong way with too hot or too cold water.  What you need is making sure the temperature is lukewarm before subjecting your vulnerable pores to that water and soap or the facial wash.

Work the foaming soap or cleanser into your skin for at least a minute before rinsing thoroughly with more lukewarm water.  Close your clean pores with cool--not icy cold water.  Too frigid water can break capillaries in some people.

Sometimes, we grab a towel and rub  to dry our face.  This is a bad habit that could help prematurely age our faces.  Instead, remember to pat dry and your face will reward you later in life.

Exfoliation is crucial if you want to keep your complexion as clean as possible.  Make it a priority to give yourself a weekly treatment with a gentle scrub or other exfoliating product to rid dead skin and any last remaining debris clinging to your pores.

Hopefully, these little changes to your routine can make a big difference in giving you a beautiful new glow!

Rinse off cleansers may be the easiest solution, but if you have an issue of dry or extra dry skin it may not be the answer.  This variety may possibility also strip away oils from your skin in the process.  An oil-based cleanser, on the other hand, will not pose that sort of problem since it adds emollients to do the task as gently as possible.

An excellent one that I tried lately is Melvita's Apicosma Creamy Cleansing Milk from the French beauty brand.  This product has three different types of honey, pollen, and sweet almond, which is so soothing in this skin pleasing formula.  I loved how this cleanser calmed my delicate skin while it worked.

All that I had to do to remove my old makeup was to wipe off this cleanser with a few tissues.  You will be surprised at the look of your face when you're finished.  Some cleansers of this type leave you with an oily film that needs further attention. This cleanser looks cleaner with just bit of sheen.  I did follow up with my toner to test this clean but my cotton balls were free of makeup and dirt.

This product is safe as well to handle removing eye cosmetics.   Everything in that department was easy to wipe away.  The only exception involved using any waterproof eye cosmetics.  These were more difficult to budge and took longer and more swipes to remove, but my waterproof mascara and new liner finally came off.

I first fell in love with Apicosma when I reviewed their Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream, one of the best hand creams I ever tried for how quickly it heals and nourishes suffering red skin.

Their Apicosma Creamy Cleansing Milk is just as awesome especially for those of us with sensitive, dry skin that needs extra tender loving care.  The 6.7 fl. oz. bottle retails for $22.00.

If sensitivity and dry skin are causing you grief, I can't recommend the Apicosma line from Melvita highly enough.  Do visit their website and get some because those products I tried can turn that problem around.
