Why You May Want to Try Curly Hair Products for Help With Dry, Damaged Hair

back-of- curly-brunette's-head.jpeg
You may want to consider trying some curly hair care products for your hair type, too!

As I mentioned, I have some natural curl in my hair.  When it is one length, the weight of my thick hair flattens the curl into more gentle waves than full curls.  The story changes once I get a layered cut.  The more layers, the more curls that spring up.  Despite how I style my hair, I still always turn to curly hair products to tame and boost moisture more often than other varieties.

The reason I keep coming back to curly hair products is because of the extra moisture this type provides my dry hair for more thorough conditioning.  The reason for more intensive lubrication in this formula is due to handling this hair’s unique texture and porosity.

The degree of curl determines how heavy the emollients in the formula are most likely to be.  For example, the products for tight, small curls have the richest ingredients for moisture such as shea butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, or jojoba oil for keeping the strands healthy and at their best. On the other hand, a lighter form can be in a product such as a spray.  You just need to experiment and find the right formula that won't weigh your hair down.

Curly hair products also have more ingredients for strengthening, which is another reason to love them when the hair is brittle. If you want to rescue suffering, damaged or coarse hair, try some curly hair products like a smoothing creme, conditioner, mousse etc. and see the extra conditioning benefits that you’ll find in addition to styling.   Give it a try and you'll see how much faster that your hair will come back to its former glory!

Fantastic Hair Tricks for Those With Natural Curl Straight From the Salon!

Woman with curly hair.jpeg
You'll rest easy with more control of those curls once you try these wonderful tips!

Recently, I had to find a new stylist since the one that I loved was leaving to move out of state now that her husband was transferred.  As you can imagine, I was heartbroken by the news because she understood the issues that I have with my hair and always cut it beautifully so the style was gorgeous and easy to do at home.  Now, my head was in new hands and sitting in that chair was once again traumatic.

As I explained what I wanted to this new stylist, I kept watching his expression change as he examined my hair style.  “What do you think of letting me add a little more layering to bring out more curls?” he asked.  “I promise it will be good.”

For some strange reason, I trusted him.  Maybe it was the confidence on his face or the woman before they walked away from his chair that prompted me to take a chance and allowed him a free reign to cut as he pleased.

As he started cutting, he asked what type of hair spray I used.  I told him about a variety of hair sprays with firm to flexible hold.

I saw him nod in the mirror.  “With the curl in your hair, you should try a volumizing spray instead of hair spray to finish the style.  Be sure to gently fluff the curls once you give it a light spray and you’ll get softer, gorgeous curls with more lift and lessen frizz.”

I also learned about the importance of misting my hair in the middle of the day when it begins to frizz with a foundation (conditioning) spray.  He explained how it helps return some much needed extra moisture to the hair, reviving the curl.  His recommendation was about six or so pumps (depending on thickness and length of your own hair, of course) that you work through the hair to the ends.

I got so wrapped up to listening that before I knew it, he exchanged the scissors for a blow-dryer.  Once he finished, I was so happy that I went with my feeling and let him have his way with those layers because it released even more amazing, full curls than before.

I loved it and told him so.  In return, he shared another secret of misting my hair the next day with water.  He said the water was enough to revive the style with the styling products he already had on.

If you also have curly hair, I hope you try these helpful tips because you will discover a beautiful difference in the behavior of your hair once you do!

The Secret of Better Controlling Naturally, Curly Hair

Curly Hair back of head.jpeg
Forget the frizz and replace it with beautiful, tamed curls!

Anyone born with curls or waves knows it comes with a price–-called unruliness and frizz.  In order to keep the hair shiny and manageable a daily leave-in product specially formulated for naturally curly hair is a must. However, if you have been using this product without much success, then you have been making your selection the wrong way.

Instead, look for one specifically meant for your hair’s thickness, texture, and curl type when you are about to make a new purchase for a daily leave-in product.

The results of the various formulations can be amazing once you have the right product.  For example, fine and soft, silky hair does best with a leave-in serum over a heavier gel or cream product.  The serum will seal the cuticle and strengthen the curls with more beauty without weighing it down.

On the other hand, thick or coarser textures need a heavier duty leave-in product like that gels and creams to adequately tame this hair type of frizz.

The Next Time Your Hair Frizzes, Try This Easy Fix!

frizz-prone-curls.jpeg
Curls often come with frizz, but the tips below help.

Anyone that has curl to their hair can relate to the issue of battling frizz.  I happen to be one of them. However, did you know that shine products will give you not only extra gloss but they can come to your rescue on those extra difficult to manage hair days?

The important thing to look for when buying that shine product is to make sure it contains silicone.  That particular ingredient will do wonders to tame the frizz since it will cause the hair cuticle to lie flat instead of out of control.

What I like to do is to carry a small bottle of shine spray with me in my handbag.  This simple preventive measure can do wonders to save your style from frizzing out when the humidity is on the rise.

You can opt to do the same thing with a shine serum that also happens to contain silicone.  I just think it is easier to just put out my spray and shoot to whip my unruly hair back in place.

If you do prefer the serum form, I have a better way that you might want apply it.  Try rubbing just a tiny bit of the product into your hand and fingertips before running your moistened hand over the surface of that frizzy hair to distribute the serum evenly.  You might be surprised at how much better hair will be!
