Recipe: Make a Weekend Outstanding With My Spicy Oatmeal Drop Cookies!

flour-and-butter-for-cookie-baking.jpeg
You can use butter or vegetable shortening to make my delicious Spicy Oatmeal Drop Cookies.

After another hard week in this game of life, I think we all deserve a weekend treat like with a few of my spicy oatmeal drop cookies.  This recipe elevates the ordinary oatmeal cookie to new heights with the addition of a sassy blend of spices and molasses along with more chewing pleasure from chopped peanuts and raisins.  If this doesn't sound tempting enough, the aroma of these baking will fill your house with such a delicious cinnamon aroma that is far better than any similar air freshener or candle on the market.

Cookie Baking Tips That Simplify Efforts

You can use a tablespoon to drop this dough onto your greased cookie sheets.  However, I recommend a small size ice cream scoop is a great way to speed up the process for dropping these cookies.  Keep a cup filled with water near you while you use your ice cream scoop to dip into once it starts to stick will correct that problem for you.

Large size ice cream scoops work just as well if you want to make giant cookies.  I always use my large ice scoop when I am making giant size muffins.

I really think you are going to enjoy these so when you're in the mood for a warm taste of the fall season, I hope you start with my recipe.

My Spicy Oatmeal Drop Cookies

1/2 cup of vegetable shortening or butter
3/4 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of ginger
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of molasses (light or dark)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1-1/2 cups of flour
1/4 cup of milk
1-1/2 cups of rolled oats (quick or old-fashioned)
1/2 cup of peanuts, chopped
1 cup of raisins

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly with your electric mixture before adding the salt, cinnamon, and molasses to beat in along with the egg.

Sift together the baking soda with the flour and add to the creamed mixture.

Add the milk, oats, peanuts, and raisins next and stir through.

Drop from tablespoons or using your small ice cream scoop onto greased baking sheets.

Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 12-15 minutes until done.

This makes about five dozen cookies.

ENJOY!

Recipe: Save Money and Make Your Own Homemade Shake and Bake Coating!

Those little packets of seasoned flour coating mix  for your meats, chicken, and fish can run into money.  However, I wanted to share a great recipe to help you make your own version of Shake and Bake that is just as tasty and far cheaper.

An initial batch makes about the equivalent of twenty packets of its commercial counterpart.  Once you prepare a recipe, you store this seasoned flour-crumb mix in the refrigerator in a covered container.  Make this ahead and will be set for a while.

Take your measuring cup and divide the homemade mix into twenty portions.  You can store each measured portion into a food storage bag for extra convenience.

This seasoned flour mix will make that chicken, fish pork chops or whatever other meats you coat surprisingly tender plus flavorful with just enough spices.

I do hope you try this recipe because it is really delicious and a much cheaper way to go!

My Easy Homemade Shake and Bake Seasoned Flour Coating Mix  (Makes 20 Packets)

4 cups of flour
4 cups of crackermeal  (or ground crackers)
4 tablespoons of salt
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of onion powder
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
3 tablespoons of paprika
1/4 cup of canola oil

Mix well and store in the refrigerator in a covered container.

Makes about twenty packets.

How to Tell If You're a Sunrise Or Sunset Coloring

assorted-makeup.jpeg
Understanding the colors in your skin tone can lead you to more flattering choices when selecting clothes to play off your coloring.

Have you ever noticed that certain colors tend to flatter your skin tones more than others?
If so, then I have a foolproof method of determining the best color family to compliment your complexion since you can be either a sunrise or sunset type of coloring.

Golden Skin Tones Show Warmth in Color Like the Sun

Women with golden skin tones should seek out colors you see when the sun goes down (terra-cotta, warm reds, and tangerine).

Fair Skin Tones Reflect Colors Like Blue or Hot Pink of a Sunrise

If you happen to have fairer or cool skin tones, then look for cooler shades from in a sunrise (hot pink or blue) to really compliment you.

Another Method is Checking the Color of the Veins on Your Wrist

Another way to tell what type of coloring you may be is by checking under your wrist.  Green veins classify you as sunset coloring while those with blue are sunrise.  However, you could always see both shades of veins so if that is the case go with muted selections of either sunrise or sunset.

Melvita's Apicosma Body Ultra-Nourishing Body Balm Review

Melvita's Apicosma Body Ultra-Nourishing Body Balm.jpeg
Melvita's Apicosma Body Ultra-Nourishing Body Balm

I was so impressed with Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Creme from organic experts and leading French beauty brand, Melvita, that I wanted to work with more products from that line.  This time I was sent their  Apicosma Body Ultra-Nourishing Body Balm for this review to see how it fared.

This line is so extraordinary because it uses the power of three different honeys (thyme, acacia, and orange blossom), royal jelly for its regenerating capabilities along with cocoa butter in a rich, delicious smelling formula that treats and heals even the dryness of skin so it feels renewed and silky smooth again.   In addition, this Apicosma Body Ultra Nourishing Body Balm has stevia leaf extract as well into the mix of its beneficial ingredients.

I even had a dry spot near the ankles and elbows that this really help soften nicely.  You should see what this product does to pamper the tough skin on your feet.  Furthermore, I want to point out that you don't need to use a lot of this creme to notice a difference.

Anyone with dry skin like mine would really love this soothing product because it has all the gentleness you need in a creme that really does work.  I really love it and am particularly fond of the Apicosma line and Melvita and do hope you try this line for yourself to relief that dryness once and for all.

Kenra Professional Hair Spray Styling Products.jpeg
Kenra Professional Hair Spray Styling Products

Keeping that perfect hairstyle in tact can take some doing.  The hold you need can vary daily depending on how you feel like wearing your hair.  Nonetheless, you need a range of hair sprays to keep your hair just the way you want.  Today, I would like to share my experiences with three varieties of Kenra Professional hair spray formulations for light to medium hold.

First, I tried the Design Spray 9.  This gives a wonderful gentle hold that allows you to restyle your hair again without fear of needing to keep adding more spray.  I brushed and combed my hair through the day when necessary and found I could relax without worrying that I was now looking like a goon.

The Platinum Sheer Holding Spray is also an ultra lightweight hold hair spray that you will want to remember.  This gives a gentle hold, dries quickly, and best of all doesn't let you down when rain is in the forecast.  I loved how this spray worked when you only need a minimum of holding power.

Last of all, I tried Perfect Medium Spray 13.  This is an excellent, slightly stronger flexible hold type of hair spray.  You will find this dries quickly and doesn't make the hair feel overly hard.  You'll really like how this spray leaves you hair with an extra shine as well as a trustworthy hold that you can still put your brush through later without problems of needing more.  No wonder this spray won an award as best hair spray by Launchpad in 2006.

These three hair sprays are now staples on my vanity along with some fabulous Kenra firm hair sprays that I discussed in an earlier review.  Do look for this line because Kenra Professional knows how important preserving that hair style is to us, women.

Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealers Review (#103 Soft Honey, #102 Light Beige, #201 Neutralizer)

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealers.jpeg
Rimmel London Hide The Blemish Concealers

Even with all the different forms of concealers I have, my makeup bag is never without a concealer stick.  I happen to think this variety is so multipurpose for everything besides dark circles, scars, pimples, and redness.  Therefore, I was very curious about how Rimmel London's Hide The Blemish Concealers provided for this review would perform when I put the three sticks I was sent to the test in #201 Neutralizer, #103  Soft Honey, and #102  Light Beige

The medium coverage was good in my opinion, especially for hiding any imperfections like a small discolored spot or scar.   I thought it blended well when working to layer it with foundation and powder to do a nice job of keeping such a problem a secret.

The shades are lighter in color than they look in the tube.  Although I could work with all three, when combined with my foundation, I think the Soft Honey was the best match for my light coloring of the lot provided.

As far as eyes are concerned, I found that if you put it on directly underneath it may settle into your creases.  Nonetheless, you can still manage to use this concealer around the eye area just as effectively to cover darkness if you concentrate only on the corners of the eyes and lightly pat the product in without stretching all the way through to those creases where it can settle.

Besides concealing, I have discovered what an excellent primer this makes for eye shadow.  You will be shocked at how much longer your eye shadows will last if you apply some of the Hide The Blemish Concealer first.

To sum it up, I think this is nice everyday concealer that you need to check out when you're in the market for a new one.

Kenra Professional Styling Products for Amazing Curls Review--Part Six

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Kenra Professional Styling Products.jpeg
Kenra Professional Styling Products

I can be finicky when it comes to my hair.  Sometimes, I want a head of shiny, springy curls and take advantage of my natural curls and waves.  Therefore, I was interested in seeing how to make the most of what I was born with using curling and shine products from Kenra Professional.

The first product I wanted to test was their Curl Defining Creme 5.  I found it to have a delightful strawberry type of aroma once I pumped a little out and ran some through my still damp, freshly washed hair.

After I finished blow-drying using my diffuser, I found my curls multiplied and looked more defined and glossy  without leaving my hair hard and crunchy to the touch.  Furthermore, the hold lasted throughout a humid day without turning that beauty into frizz.

I got my bangs tapered to fall just slightly sheer and chipped on my forehead while the rest is pushed back into my hair.  With that said, I needed something else to control that section so I went with the Platinum Grooming Pomade.  This water-based formula provided enough of a hold to keep most of that hair to the side where I wanted it.  This didn't feel heavy either and really added a nice shine.

Though my hair had a shine, I wanted to see whether their Shine Spray  would make any difference.  This was incredible for turning on the highlights in my hair.  Ingredients like silicone, hydrolyzed silk, and sunflower seed extract help give the hair a softer texture while adding moisture as well.

The Curl Spray 8 is another great one when it comes to curls.  I gave myself a few blasts of this while still slightly damp after shampooing and scrunched before using my blow-dryer with the diffuser.  This product really treated my curls to softness from their humectant-enriched formula that includes glycerin, aloe, jojoba and sunflower oils.

What I loved about this product was it gave a wonderful gentle hold, kept frizz away, and seemed to revive my curls with a boost of healthy gloss and elasticity, which makes this fantastic in my book.

My hair has never looked prettier since I have been working with Kenra Professional and their topnotch hair products.  I have discovered more control, shine, and healthier revived hair due to their expert formulations and really do recommend them.  Whatever your hair needs, I believe they can help you also discover the road to more beautiful hair and highly advise a visit to their website and picking some products up.  Trust me, and you will thank me later once you see the results.

Recipe: Make My Marshmallow Filled Pound Cake for A Way to Boost Smiles!

Weekends always call for a sweet indulgence.  Therefore, I thought you might like to try my special pound cake recipe that has a swirl of marshmallows for filling.  By layering with some mini marshmallows, you will be rewarded with  a sweet, gooey marble inside a wonderfully moist and fine-grained cake.

Besides vanilla extract, you can add a teaspoon of your other favorite extract to heighten the flavor of your cake.  Lemon, anise, almond, walnut, and brandy extract all work to change the flavor of this cake to make each variation equally delicious as well as unique.

Also, this recipe calls for sour milk.  If your milk is still good, you simply take a cup of sweet milk and add a tablespoon of lemon juice to sour it up.  Buttermilk will suffice if you have it in the house.

This cake only needs a sprinkling of sifted confectioners' sugar to complete it.  To fancy this presentation up, you could place a lacy doily on top before sifting, which leaves a beautiful pattern once lifted.

The next time you're in the baking mode, I do hope you try my recipe!

My Marshmallow Filled Pound Cake

1 cup of shortening or margarine, (not spread)
2 cups of sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon of lemon extract or (anise, walnut, almond, or brandy extract) or experiment with another
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
3 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1 cup of sour milk or buttermilk
1-1/4 cups of mini marshmallows

Cream your shortening or margarine with the sugar thoroughly until fluffy.

Beat in eggs, one at a time.  Be sure to beat well after each.

Add the extracts and mix thoroughly.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt in another mixing bowl.

Alternate the dry sifted mixture with the sour milk to the creamed mixture, beating well as you go until everything is added and well combined.

Grease a 10-fluted tube pan and pour half of the batter in before adding the mini marshmallows in a circle.  Top with the rest of the batter and bake in a 350-degree oven for about an hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Don't try to remove the cake from the pan too soon.  Let it cool for at least ten minutes before removing from the pan.

Sift some confectioners' sugar on top.  Do enjoy!

New SUPERPRETZEL Sweet Cinnamon Pretzel Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**
SUPERPRETZEL Sweet Cinnamon Pretzel.jpeg
SUPERPRETZEL Sweet Cinnamon Pretzel

We love all forms of pretzels at my house.  Therefore, when I was contacted to review the new Sweet Cinnamon variety from SUPERPRETZEL. I was more than happy to give them my opinion of the J & J Snack Foods latest addition to their frozen pretzel line.

I received a box of six soft dough pretzels.  You can reheat them in the oven or microwave before sprinkling a little of the separately packaged cinnamon-sugar over top.  For three pretzels, it took only a minute and a half on high in the microwave until they were ready to be devoured.

The dough is infused with cinnamon, but I did not find that taste overwhelming when I sampled the plain pretzel.  Sprinkle the warm pretzel with a bit of the cinnamon-sugar to really bring that particular goodness out.  However, a little of this cinnamon-sugar over my pretzel was enough to compliment it just right for a delicious alternative from the traditional nonsweet forms.

You can melt a little margarine over that hot pretzel first before dusting with that sugar mix but I thought it held on fine without it.  Also, you could ice these pretzels or serve with chocolate sauce and ice cream.  Yet, I think why waste the extra calories when these pretzels are just wonderful prepared the way they are.

Besides low-fat and being 200 calories each, you don't have to feel guilty about denying yourself that treat.   Find stores in your area and where to buy here.  Then visit the freezer section of your favorite grocery store and prepare to enjoy!

Essence Cosmetics Review for A Radiant Face

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

My Base and Makeup to Match.jpeg
Essence Cosmetics My Base and Makeup to Match #20

Beauty is a passion of mine.  And yet, when you can find cosmetics at a bargain that will help that cause without disappointment, then you found a real steal like products from the German-based beauty manufacturer, Essence Cosmetics.

So far, I have shared some fabulous eye and lip products in separate reviews.  Today, I will tell about my experiences with some of their face products.

I was sent My Base.  This provided me with a smoother facial surface so that my foundation looked more flawless.  You would be surprised in the difference a base can make underneath your makeup for improving your overall complexion.

I experimented  also with Essence's Makeup to Match #20 Light/Medium.  This is a foundation that adapts to all skin tones.  In my opinion, this is a sheerer coverage that is more on the order of a tinted moisturizer.  I found it evened out my complexion and had a nice matte finish.  Fragrance and oil-free, this makeup held up well throughout the day without giving me any greasy look just a healthy glow.

Next, I tested their Mattifying Compact Powder in #01 Natural Beige.  The powder has a very nice texture and feels light when applied and gives a wonderful matte finish.  However, the shade provided for this review was slightly too dark for my light skin tone.  The only drawback is this compact does not come with a puff or a brush.

My cheeks got to experience two shades of Silky Touch Blush. #30 Secret It Girl is a becoming peachy apricot while #10 Adorable is a perky natural pink.  This powder has a silky texture and graces cheeks with healthy natural color that you'll love.

Silkening Blush Duo, Mosaic Compact Powder and Mattifying Compact Powder.jpeg
Silkening Blush Duo, Mosaic Compact Powder and Mattifying Compact Powder

Finally, I want to tell you about Essence's Mosaic Compact Powder in #01 Sunkissed Beauty.  For those that aren't lucky picking up the right shade when it comes to bronzers, then you need to check this one out.  This compact has several varying colors of tan that blends when hit with your swirling brush to dispense just the right amount of bronze for a natural glow.  #01 Sunkissed Beauty is perfect for those light like me.

You can find Essence Cosmetics at Ulta or check their website for other wonderful products and where to buy.

How to Find Your Best Blush Shade While Keeping That Color Vibrant!

Here's a surefire tip to save you frustration and money when choosing a new shade of blush.  Look carefully at the natural color of your lips and look for shades in that range when you shop.  Also, you might want to read my earlier post for an equally great way. You just might be surprised at what better choices you'll be making.

Another wonderful thing I want to share with you is how using two different forms of blush can really make a difference in how long that color will last.   Start with a cream blush and then complete with a swipe of powder blush on the apples of your cheeks will keep you gorgeous much longer than just using one.

Do try these simple tricks and watch how your beauty and cosmetic dollars take off!

Essence Cosmetics Review for Lips That Wow!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Five Essence Lip Products.jpeg
Essence lip products

A few months ago, I worked with Essence Cosmetics, the German-based beauty manufacturer with a review of their award-winning lipsticks.  Today, I want to give you my take on more lip product excitement that can save you money without scrimping on quality or the look you're trying to achieve.

Take the Essence XXXL Shine Lip Gloss for a great way to shine with shades like #021 Red Blossom (classic red that will definitely make a statement) and #18 Sparkling Papaya (ripe peach-salmon shade sparkling with pink).  This formula rocks with a moisturizing feel, glorious color, and intense shine without stickiness.  You'll love what this variety of gloss can do for instant glamour.

I also sent a Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss in #07 Kiss Kiss Kiss (dramatic cherry red).  Though this shade looks dark, it goes on lighter for a soft wash, and hardly a bright red.   You can deepen this look with adding a bit more to your lips without a problem.  This gloss had it all as far as feeling comfortable, incredible pigmentation, no stickiness, wonderful staying power, and being an excellent value.

Last of all, I received two more shades of Essence lipsticks that you should be aware of.  #31 Glamour Queen is a gorgeous mid-tone neutral of glistening beige-brown with  the plum (on the right in the photo below).  #40 Look At Me is a light gleaming beige-brown.

Do pick these products up and be prepared to be amazed!  You can find Essence Cosmetics at Ulta or check their website for other exciting products and where to buy.

You'll Be Hooked Once You Taste My Best Whoopie Pies!

Do you remember those small lunch size cakes with fluffy marshmallow filling?  Perhaps, your mother used to pack them for you as you went off to school.  Today, I have recreated that delicious childhood memory with this yummy recipe for my favorite whoopie pies.

Though they are called pies, these are moist chocolate mini cakes that you assemble and stuff with my special marshmallow filling that really will remind you of those school time lunch cakes.  You will love how they puff up in a chocolate mound like half a moon so that spreading and fitting them together is that much easier.

One important tip that I have to share with you is to remember to sift your dry ingredients together, especially the baking soda with your flour.  If you ever happened to bake something that required baking soda and you tasted that bitter odd taste, it could have been caused by that uneven distribution of that baking soda.  Trust me, I have done that and now always make it a point to sift.

Keep in mind that when you use a margarine for baking or cooking that you need to carefully check the package first that it is not labeled a spread.  Spreads contain too much water and always ruin icing, fillings, and basically anything you want to bake.

I do hope you try this recipe because I know you will love it.

My Best Whoopie Pies

1/2 cup canola oil
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 cup of milk
1-1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1-1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa
2 cups of flour

Marshmallow Filling:

1/2 cup of margarine (not spread)
1 cup of confectioners' sugar
1 cup of marshmallow fluff
1-1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 tablespoon of milk

To Make Whoopie Batter:

Sift all the dry ingredients for the whoopie pie batter together in a large bowl.

Add the egg, oil, milk, and vanilla and beat into the dry ingredients with the electric mixer until smooth and well blended.

Drop by tablespoon onto a lightly greased cookie sheet, placing about two inches apart so they have room to spread.

Bake the whoppie pies about five to seven minutes at 425-degrees.  Cool in the pan for about a minute first before removing them.  Lift each off with a wide spatula and cool completely before assembling and filling.

To Make Filling:

Combine all the filling ingredients and beat like a frosting until creamy.  Spread this filling on half the cookies, then top with the others to make sandwiches.

This recipe makes about 1-1/2 dozen whoopie pies.

Revlon's Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealer Review

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

Revlon's Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealers.jpeg
Revlon's Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealers

Finding a concealer that works for you can be tricky.  Some can be too thick or dry and hard to spread forcing you to apply it like spackling, which can also end up in those creases and fine lines.  Others can be too thin and watery so those dark circles you're attempting to hide surface until you wonder what the company was thinking to even put it on the market.  Then again, you could be lucky to find one that has everything you hope like the new Revlon Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealer.

I received two shades of this concealer in 01 Light and 02 Light/Medium for this review.  These are in tube form and come with a wand applicator.  The consistency is a thinner cream formula that is water-based so it gives superb hydration to the area. In fact, this new Revlon version is one of the most moisturizing concealers that I have ever encountered from a drug store brand with the humectants it contains.  In addition, this product has vitamin B3, vitamin E, and West Indian cherry extract.

You can blend this concealer easily and will get nice sheer to medium coverage to help camouflage problems.

Being fairly light, the lightest of the two  (01 Light) in this line, looked the best on me.  The pale beige has some yellow so it was an excellent match for my skin tone.   In comparison, the 02 Light/Medium was slightly darker but the yellowish was also more emphasized.

To be frank, I didn't notice any difference regarding puffiness or eradicating any fine lines or wrinkles due to their DNA Advantage technology.  However, I have only started using this concealer, which could mean those beneficial effects could be apparent later in time with more use.

I do think Revlon's Age Defying DNA Advantage Concealer is definitely worth your consideration.  Perhaps, this could be the ultimate one for you!

Revlon's Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup Review (#110 Ivory and #150 Buff)--Photos!

Revlon's Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup

If you're like me and always on the quest for skin perfection, then I may have discovered the secret  of a foundation that can do that for you thanks to Revlon.  I'm talking about their new Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup that I recently had the opportunity to review in #110 Ivory and #150 Buff.

Once your finger or sponge dabs some of this luxurious cream foundation from the jar to apply on your face, you notice how smoothly this formula melts into your skin.  Furthermore, it blends like a dream for beautiful medium coverage while doing a great job to make a complexion more flawless.  Another thing I want to point out is that you can also build on this foundation for heavier coverage, if you need it in the event of an unexpected pimple or small scar you want to hide .

And yet there is more about this makeup that makes it outstanding.  I loved how breathable this foundation felt without looking chalky or artificial while lasting through an entire day.  The satin like finish I was left with was natural looking as well.

As far as shades go, the #110 Ivory has a bit more pink color but would be suitable for me.  On the other hand, the #150 Buff has more yellow and is a better choice for my light and warm-toned complexion.

I honestly loved Revlon's Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup  foundation.  But you need to discover this one for yourself because it feels amazing and will help you look amazing!  Can you think of anything better than that?

Essence Cosmetics Review for Eyes to Behold--Swatches!--Photos!

**Disclaimer:  This post has been compensated through a free product (s) or monetary payment.  Opinions are solely mine. All links are "no-follow" links.**

five Essence eye cosmetics.jpeg
Five of the Essence eye cosmetics that I was sent.

Sometimes, you may can hardly believe quality can be had at a bargain.  And yet, I have found some more fabulous cosmetics that can really save you money without making any sacrifice to gorgeous results like with these wonderful products from the German beauty manufacturer, Essence Cosmetics.

Today, I want to share some exciting eye cosmetics you should definitely look into starting with their mascaras.

I Love Extreme Volume Mascara in black  is just what you want if huge, over the top lashes are what you're striving for.  Due to the huge brush, you can make that dramatic look happen with one sweep of that brush for eyes that really rock with a jet black shade for true intensity.  You can swipe another coat to further accentuate that look, but I wouldn't keep adding coats unless you want to risk spider lashes.  This product didn't flake or end up smearing and really held up for wear until I took it off.

On the other hand,  Get Big! Lashes Volume Boost Mascara also had a big brush and was a breeze to work with and gentle for sensitive eyes like mine.  I liked the fact it was buildable for volume and also wore nicely.  This mascara was less likely to clump, especially if you wiped off the excess before applying.  Again, I didn't have any problem with flaking or smudging.  This formula also comes in waterproof.

To really make your eyes enormous with either mascara, I recommend using an eyelash curler first.  This will make even small eyes pop for maximum attention.

Another product I want to tell you about is their Lash & Brow Gel Mascara.  This is clear and ideal for taming unruly eyebrows. You won't get hard, sticky brows with this clear gel mascara only control.

In addition, I tried their Liquid Ink Eyeliner.  This one is fabulous with just the right consistency and its ultra fine tip applicator that makes it easier to get a precise line for the newbie to this type of product.  Another thing I liked was the small size for throwing in your bag or later replacement at $2.99 compared to more expensive others.

I also was sent two Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencils in #17 Tu-Tu Turquoise (more blue-green than typical turquoise) and in #09 Cool Down (a royal blue).  These were automatic pencils that swivelled up and required no sharpening.   I found them great  for lining with their fine points.  They glided on and stayed put without smearing all day.

Essence Mono Eyeshadows and eye pencils.jpeg
Mono Eyeshadows and Long Lasting Eye Pencils

The Mono Eyeshadows  are something to look into and a definite great buy at $1.99 for the looks you can achieve, silky consistency, and long-lasting wear.  I got six of these beauties to work with #58 Cappuccino, please (Shimmer Effect); #48 Forrest Gump (Shimmer Effect); #52 Olive Garden (Shimmer); #02 Dance All Night (Sparkling Effect); #19 Disco Diva (Metallic Effect); and #51 Absolutely Nature (Sparkling).

Swatches starting close to my wrist is #48 Forrest Gump (gleaming teal); #58 Cappucccino, please (a soft beige for highlight); #52 Olive Garden (my favorite olive that's not too green but more brown with gold shimmering for striking contrast); #02 Dance All Night (a beaming pale gold for highlighting); #19 Disco Diva (a gleaming lilac-purple not to be ignored); and #51 Absolutely Nature (a cool medium brown that is so versatile and basic for whatever you want to do).

Last of this grouping, I experimented with their Stay All Day 16 Hour Concealer in #10 Natural Beige.  I'll start with describing the consistency as very creamy.  It has a doe foot applicator, which was easy to manuever.  The product blended well and didn't settle into the creases and fine lines for most of the day, which I loved.  If you happen to need more coverage to cover a blemish, you can layer more product and then pat with some powder to better vanquish it.  However, I think you would best prefer using this just for the eye area since it does have illuminating pigments that could focus more attention on what you're trying to hide--like an unwanted pimple.

I honestly liked these cosmetics and will be sharing more from Essence Cosmetics with you soon.  So keep that in mind and visit their website for other exciting products.  You can find them at Ulta or where to buy.

Crabtree & Evelyn's NEW Himalayan Blue Eau de Toilette Spray.jpeg
Crabtree & Evelyn's NEW Himalayan Blue Eau de Toilette Spray

Before this new fragrance from Crabtree & Evelyn arrived for my review, I kept wondering how the company would capture a journey made by early British expeditions to the Himalayas in search of the mystical blue poppy and bottle those scents they encountered along the way.  And yet, one whiff of Himalayan Blue is like your own private ticket to another time and place that is shrouded in exotic beauty and mystery, almost like you're climbing the path of mountains along this mystical place and taking that rare mixture of scents home in this sophisticated chypre floral fragrance.

A fresh stirring blast of citruses invigorates you from mandarin and orange leaf as you begin your soulful quest to adventure.  You're curious  to take in all the panoramic ancient beauty but follow the trail higher, traveling toward the smell of lemon, which adds to your excited energy as you explore the unknown.

The heart is where your true journey finally begins as you make your way through lush foliage and vegetation of black tea and ginger, to stare out at the Himalayan golden champaca and wildflowers unlike you've ever seen before.  The scent of rose captures your attention from the rose absolute and is enough to get you to dance barefoot and feel the thick carpet of wildflowers as you whirl in ecstasy, feeling the warmth of the day on your face.  The aroma of smoky black tea drifts toward you from the distance and it seems to delightfully heighten the subdued sweetness and spice flourishing in this secret sanctuary.

You want to absorb this foreign place with its hidden appeal but finally must move on in the base.   You feel that sensual  and smoky allure of this area with sandalwood, leather, the patchouli because it has already become a part of you.  Though you must depart for home, the journey will stay with you forever in the essence of unparalleled primitive beauty reborn in this haunting softly seductive fragrance as unique and special as the select women that wear it.

In my opinion Himalayan Blue is the perfect fragrance for the discriminating woman that is confident, romantic, and one with an adventurous spirit that is constantly challenging herself.  Fresh, feminine, and  yet lightly exotic and sweet with spice and woods for mystery and temptation, this fragrance is sure to please such a woman that never ceases to amaze.  Experience this magical sensory journey for yourself and you will never be the same!

Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter Review

Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter.jpeg
Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter

Finding the perfect concealer is like finding the right man.  There are ones that will do an adequate job for you and leave you somewhat satisfied.  Others can disappoint to such an extent that you will drop them and search for another.  Still, there are concealers that you can be happy to live with like Rimmel London's Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighters because of how they totally satisfy you in that crucial need of covering unsightly under eye dark circles!

This concealer comes in a tube with a synthetic brush at the other end.  I received two shades of this concealer in #125 Fair (yellow-based) and #245 Light (slightly darker and pink-based).  I found the spreadable thick consistency made for effortless blending of this creamy concealer while it moisturized enough to skip the need for eye cream.  The formula covered the darkness nicely but if you needed more coverage, this product is buildable.

Another important thing is this product didn't cake or settle into those fine creases for quite a while while the highlighter inside did a wonderful job to brighten the area in the process.

If skillful, you could also use this concealer to hide a blemish.  Dab some on with your finger or brush and give it a minute to set before applying powder for great opaque coverage.  However, I do think this is better for using under the eye since it has the highlighter.

You do squeeze a bit extra through the brush than with, perhaps, a different form.  However, the amount of waste really doesn't add up to that much in my opinion when you take into consideration overall cost.

If you are of the opinion it's more unsanitary having the product dispense directly onto the brush, you need to look at the other forms of concealers like wands, pots, or tubes.  Whatever form you prefer, once used and put back into the container or when touched with a finger also comes in contact with air, more skin, and the product to return inside the concealer.

Every product once used does harbor bacteria and needs replaced after a few months--regardless of price or form.  With that said, I think this was one of the best concealers that I have found and was pleased with the results I got especially with the #125 Fair shade.  If you are looking for a new concealer, I can really recommend Rimmel London Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter!

Do You Want a Beautiful Solution to Shed Water Weight?

Ladies, we all know about bloating and discovering a few extra pounds we're suddenly packing due to water weight.  How about if I told you there's a natural way to quickly get rid of that excess water and get those tight designer jeans to fit more comfortably again?

The next time you are visited by our monthly friend, I suggest going to your health food store and picking up a box of fennel tea and make yourself a cup.  This helpful herb happens to be a natural diuretic, which will help flush toxins and that unwelcome water poundage away.

Fresh lemons also can help get rid of that sudden gain from water as well.  Try squeezing some into a glass of cold water and drinking several glasses since this is also a natural diuretic besides aiding in appetite suppression.

Do try either solution because you have nothing to loose--except, perhaps, for those few unwanted pounds!

Recipe: Indulge Your Sweet Tooth in Style With My Delicious Cream-Filled Chocolate Cupcakes!

Those that read me regularly know that I make it a point to watch my diet during the week with wiser food choices.  However, weekends are for indulgences to keep the sanity intact and reward ourselves with a treat.   My family doctor was the one that made this suggestion of eating this way in order to keep healthy and staying on track.

After you bake this recipe, prepare yourself for the dark deliciousness that I have for you with these moist mini cakes.  Smell that tempting aroma of chocolate as it rises to greet your nostrils.  As you bring that cupcake closer and take your first bite of that rich creamy filling of neufchatel or cream cheese, your tastebuds cheer with happiness and then go into overdrive once they discover the semi-sweet chocolate chips inside that smoothness.   This is a special cupcake that needs to be savored and eaten slowly to fully appreciate those incredible ingredients for maximum enjoyment.

If you worry about the temptation of overeating too many of these sinful goodies, I hear you.  Invite some friends or family over to share these cupcakes with or wrap carefully and store some in your freezer. This way you are safe and now ready to be pampered with the ultimate chocolate cupcake!

You can use either two cups of cooled, brewed coffee or water for the cupcake batter.  Though both work nicely, I think the coffee version gives added flavor to the chocolate so that is my first choice.  I just thought to mention this point for those readers that hate coffee and would not have that in the house.

Sometime, I do hope when you need your next chocolate fix that you will make this recipe.

My Delicious Cream-Filled Chocolate Cupcakes

Cupcake Batter:

3 cups of flour
2 cups of sugar
2/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 teaspoons of baking soda
3/4 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of cooled brewed coffee or water
2/3 cup of canola oil
2 tablespoons of white vinegar

Cream Filling:

1 package (8-oz.) of neufchatel or cream cheese
1/3 cup of sugar
1 egg
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

To Make the Cream Filling:

Combine filling ingredients except  for the chocolate chips and beat well with your electric mixer until creamy and smooth.  Stir in the chips last.

To Make the Cupcake Batter:

Prepare your filling first and pre-heat your oven to 350-degrees.

Next, sift together in a large mixing bowl the flour, soda, sugar, cocoa, and salt.

Add the cooled coffee or water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla to your dry ingredients.  Using your electric mixture, beat slowly until everything is well combined.

Line or well grease your muffin pans and then fill each with 2/3 full of batter.

Put one level tablespoon of filling into the center of each cupcake.  You should get about two and one half dozen normal size cupcakes.

Bake about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
