As a member of the Purex Insiders program, I was sent Dial's new Vitamin Boost Body Wash that just came out.  This product is available in two delicious fruity smells, orange and the kiwi, which I showered with.

This is a thicker consistency, creamy variety of body wash that will delight you from the moment you pop that lid and get a whiff of that tempting fresh fragrance to once you start lathering those moisturizing suds against your body.  The formula has a vitamin B complex that will draw moisture back to your skin to help better hydrate and soften you.  

I do think this formula with all that vitamin B as a natural humectant worked very nicely since I didn't need to apply as much body lotion when I stepped out from how smooth my body felt when drying off.

There was a lot to love about this new body wash.  The refreshing kiwi scent was exhilarating and a perfect pick me after a hard day or to start a day.  The fact that I also didn't have to use much on my sponge before it lathered with rich suds was wonderful to discover.  However, what most attracted me was how velvety my skin felt after showering that convinced me this was an excellent product.

Restore Fragile Nails With These Wonderful Home Remedies

While in college, I had long, beautiful fingernails that were strong.  Unfortunately, time is not kind with the changes it can bring to your fingernails if you are noticing more ridges, which are the equivalents of facial wrinkles.  

Brittleness and splitting nails can be more of a problem as you age as well, just as lacking certain vitamins and minerals in your diet can cause those problems.  So if these changes are happening to you also, then I thought you would be interested to learn how to strengthen and smooth your ridges at home using ingredients from your kitchen.

Start off making a homemade protein-rich soak for your nails and keeping them immersed for at least one half hour before rinsing while watching television or talking on the phone will pay off. Honey, olive oil, and egg yolk are the highly beneficial natural moisturizing ingredients feeding those starved nails. 

Try one teaspoon each of honey and olive oil to one egg yolk for this protein-rich nail soak recipe.

Something that also will help improve the condition of dry nails is regularly soaking them in a little bit of olive oil that you warmed first in the microwave.  This is not protein-rich as the first recipe, but it does help nails recover more than you might expect.  It also is a wonderful treat for your cuticles.  Keeping your fingernails in that oil for about ten minutes daily will make a tremendous difference in their condition.

Though you can try buffing ridges out or filling them in with a product, I have another suggestion that you might want to try on those dry, brittle nails as well.  Believe it or not, ginger ale makes a great nail soak for those kinds of nail problems.  It can accomplish smoothing and strengthening due to mono-potassium phosphate, which even helps bleach nail stains.  

All you need to do is pour some ginger ale in a small container and stick your nails in for at least 10-15 minutes.

I wasn't exactly sure what it was about Philip B. Botanical Products Lavender Hand Wash that appealed to me more--the gentleness of the way it cleansed with natural botanicals or the lingering fresh lavender scent left behind from washing with it.  However, I couldn't be more pleased with how the mild formula worked on sensitive hands.

Regardless of the season, I go through a lot of hand creams with how easily my hands chap and get irritated.  Believe it or not, I get hurting hands pretty much just by doing simple chores like washing dishes.  With my delicate hands, I looked forward to trying this liquid soap because it sounded like a highly promising moisturizing  botanical cleanser with vitamins and soothing natural ingredients such as sweet almond  and safflower oils along with pure Provencal lavender as a natural antiseptic that would treat my hands with care and my mood with its aromatherapy benefits. 

This hand wash produces a nice fragrant lather without being too strong.  In fact, I loved how each pump releasing that wonderful lavender scent remained.  What else I noticed after using it thorough the day was that my hands were feeling softer than they normally do, which surprised me.  

This was the first product that I ever tried from this company.  Now that I have discovered Philip B. Botanical Products with this Lavender Hand Wash that I like very much, I am curious about looking into their hair care products next.

At first, I thought News Anchor Blue might be more for a night out clubbing than for the office.  In the tube, this is a bold shade that could be a definite conversation starter, ladies.  Imagine how much you might have intrigued with that mysterious flash of blue on your lips.  However, this is not how this color behaves when wearing.  Instead, it is a shimmering sheer wash of the palest blue, almost white that can do wonders for making your teeth look whiter.  Although you can wear it by itself, I preferred layering it with another color to give my complexion a boost.

News Anchor Blue is above.  Though it appears pale blue on the wand, it goes on more shimmering white than blue.

My favorite of the three is the Wine Berry Flush, but then Mauve-A-Lous Darling is very pretty and when I mix News Anchor Blue with either, I get an awesome shade.  Therefore, I urge you to try all three of these new glosses yourself and experiment because you won't believe how sizzling hot your lips will look.

Are You Suffering From Severe, Dry Chapped Hands and Need Relief?

Some people will be washing their hands more frequently to avoid getting a cold or the flu now that it's winter.  Though it's good to be cautious protecting yourself against disease, it also can create dangerous conditions for your skin.  You can be stripping your skin's protective natural oils and cause pain and dryness or even worse with cracking, peeling, and bleeding, which can lead to fissures and infection.

I'm not saying you should stop washing your hands.  However, you might want to use warm water instead of hot when you do.  Hot water will strip those natural oils from your skin far faster than washing with warm water.

The next thing to do is always remember to create a moisture barrier after each washing to keep the water on your hands from evaporating.   Keep a bottle of hand lotion on your desk in plain view and apply every time you return from the rest room or at least five times at day. 

Look for formulas that contain ingredients for both emollients (lubricants) such as lanolin, squalene, and jojoba oil and humectants (moisturizing agents that can draw moisture from the air) like  hyaluronic acid, urea, aloe, and lactic acid. 

Pay particular attention to lotions with shea butter since it is both an emollient and humectant, double the benefit!

You might also try to avoid hand creams and lotions with fragrance while your hands are not up to par.  Fragrance at this time can make them extra sensitive.

If all else fails and you're getting minimal relief from hand creams and lotions, there is a home remedy that you may want to try that will help heal the chapping.  Soak a thin cloth napkin or a piece of muslin in a mix of a half cup of milk to a half cup of water.  Wring the wet cloth and place on your hands for about ten minutes.  The protein from the milk is what helps heal that damaged dry, chapped skin.

Review + Swatches: Josie Maran's Argan Beautiful Eyes Palette (Beautiful Smoke)

Josie Maran's Argan Beautiful Eyes Palette (Beautiful Smoke) 

Though Josie Maran's Argan Beautiful Eyes is also available in equally bewitching palettes such as Beautiful Nudes, Beautiful Purples, and Beautiful Blues, I was immediately drawn to Beautiful Smoke.  Those smoldering shades in this set of four coordinated eye shadows and one shadow liner really got my heart soaring as I gazed in admiration at the gold-toned compact in my hand.

What makes these powder shadows different from other brands is the fact these pigments are infused with argan oil along with floral and fruit extracts to give them a creamier, smoother texture.  In the process, this naturally formulated palette helps treat the skin of the eye area to keep its best condition without any parabens or synthetic fragrances.

With that argan oil, I had been expecting these shadows to be a softer texture instead of slightly hard when I swatched them.  However, this is only a problem is you are planning to use a sponge-applicator instead of a brush. 

If you use a sponge-applicator then you might be disappointed in how sheer the shades become when blending.  Instead of blaming the shadow, you are best to blame the applicator because it does distort and make that application a challenge.  

Once I swiped these shadows with my medium size eye shadow brush, I got more color and had an easier time to smoke those shades out since they go on very smoothly.  Something else I want to mention is the powder clung to the brush better than I expected without creating excess dust to irritate eyes.

Starting near my wrist and working down my arm is the steely-gray eye shadow shade, then the silver, dark brown, and ending with the off-white.  These were applied with a sponge applicator, which lightened those shades against my skin.

I followed the directions on the back of this compact to see how these shades were meant to be applied.  I started with cool dark ash brown shade that has some taupe to it on my lid.  Next, I applied the shimmering silver color over the crease and carefully blended against the brown.  I did not go overboard with too much shadow since I wanted the effect a soft, illuminating haze surrounding my dark brown eyes.  On the outer corners, I layered the darker shimmering steely-gray and subtly blended.  To highlight, I tried on the off-white shade and worked it in. Along my lash line, I used the matte charcoal shade with enough for emphasis before smoking everything together again.

I do also recommend using an eye primer first to make these shadows wear for the longest amount of time, especially if you are going heavier on the shadows for a glamorous, nighttime look.

I was quite pleased with the effects I achieved with this Josie Maran's Beautiful Argan Eyes Palette.  Have you tried any Beautiful Argan Eyes shadows yet?  They retail for $36 at Josie Maran.  Do look into this line and think about which of those pretty palettes would make the most of your own eyes.

Recipe: The Best Way to Warm Up--Enjoy a Taste of Paradise With My Incredible Tropical Pineapple-Carrot Bars!

Today I want to share a really wonderful cookie bar recipe with you.  Imagine the deliciousness of biting into a spicy carrot-pineapple bar that is moist and chewy with a luscious cream cheese icing would be right about now with a cup of hot coffee?  Sounds tempting, doesn't it? 

You're probably thinking something sounding that good must be complicated to make.  I hate to disappoint you, but my recipe is very easy.  Though I love good food,  I have no patience or time to spend laboring when there are simpler ways to do things.

The most involved this recipe gets after shredding your carrots is gathering the ingredients and lining them up along with bowls, pans, and the tools you will need.   Once you finish, you're halfway done because after that is mixing all the ingredients together and baking.  I told you it was easy.

I do hope you try my recipe because it is scrumptious.  If you hurry, you can get a batch made in time for the big Super Bowl game today!

My Tropical Carrot-Pineapple Bars

Bars:

2 cups of uncooked quick oats or old-fashioned oats
1-3/4 cups of flour
1 small can (8-oz.) of crushed pineapple in unsweetened pineapple juice
1 cup of shredded carrot
3/4 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of firmly packed brown sugar (light or dark)
1/2 cup of canola or corn oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
2 tablespoons of molasses (any variety)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, leveled
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/3 cup of raisins (optional)

Icing:

3-oz. of cream cheese
1 cup of confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
reserved pineapple juice

Preheat your oven to 375-degrees.

Drain your pineapple, but save the juice.  You will need it to include in the icing.

In a large mixing bowl, you will sift the flour with your soda before mixing all the cookie ingredients until well combined.

Pour into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Bake for about 20-25 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated.  Insert a tooth pick, cake tester, or slender knife to see if anything sticks will tell you if it is done.

While yours bars are cooling, you need to make the icing.  Beat your icing ingredients together with your electric mixer until creamy and a nice consistency for spreading over your cool bars.
