Mally Beauty Effortlessly Airbrushed Blush and Highlighter (Pretty Pink, Stardust) Review

Blush and lipstick are two beauty essentials that I would be hard pressed to live without. I couldn’t go a day without them for the life that they can return to a pale face.  Unless you are fortunate to wake up with perfect coloring, you might not value the importance of those products in the same way as the rest of us that need to help our beauty along.  Now it’s easy to understand why I am so smitten with a new one from Mally Beauty with her Effortlessly Airbrushed Blush and Highlighter that PR sent me recently.

Pretty Pink is a cooler, deeper pink, a blend of mauve and magenta. Stardust is a shimmery champagne shade.   At first glance, I thought the color might overwhelm my fair coloring until I tried it with that double-ended brush I found inside.  

I used the black end that had slightly more hairs and would be less for the dark pigment to stain in comparison to the white end when working with this blush.  What I did was apply it sparingly and gradually built it up until this silky powder with a creamier feel than you might expect melded into my skin with enough of that dramatic color to look as it always has been a part of me.  Actually, the effect of this deep pink against my light skin and dark hair was more flattering than I expected.  

The small round with that Stardust highlighter was simply gorgeous once I dusted some on.  I used the white end of my brush for this highlighter. I hardly used much because this packs a lot of glow so keep that in mind, but it was nice for emphasizing cheekbones.

I happen to believe that the purpose of makeup is to enhance our natural beauty.  Yet, we are at the mercy of designers that dictate the latest cosmetic trends to best serve their runway creations.  Most of the time, the average woman can easily wear the new shades and techniques.  Despite the impact they may have for couture, some beauty trends  just don’t work well for average women like chaotic scribbling on the lid or below the eye with liner to blue-tinted lips that in the past would indicate heart conditions are just two such examples.  However, European luxury brand, Rouge Bunny Rouge, understands the importance of not tampering with what nature intended with the timeless elegance of their cosmetic line like what you can expect wearing their For Love Of Roses Original Blushes.

Very Oily Complexions Would Appreciate This Blush Trick for Better Wear!

If your blush keeps ending up in an oily section, try this trick because it will help.

My complexion used to be a lot oiler than it is now so I understand how frustrating it can be trying to wear makeup without looking greasy an hour or two later.   Yesterday, I shared some makeup tips on how to stay fresher longer if you have too much oil in your complexion.  If excessively oily skin is your problem, I neglected to give you this blush trick that can help with staying power and any problems you might have if you’ve been experiencing powder blush always managing to cling to your oily spots.

Instead of just applying the powder blush directly over your foundation before dusting with loose powder, you might want to try a little of the powder first and then sweeping on the blush before finishing with more loose powder over it and the rest of your face as usual.   

Since you might be breaking out due to the oil or acne, you also might want to check your blush ingredients for D & C red dyes.  Those particular dyes clog follicles that can only make the skin worse so you may want to replace your current blush as well.

I hope this helps you as much as it did me when I was suffering with that type of complexion.

Placement is Everything for the Most Natural Looking Blush

This beauty has everything to smile about.

Not so long ago, my face was rounder than it is now.  As you can imagine, finding my cheekbones was challenging to say the least without a chiseled, well-defined bone structure.  For a long time, I was under the assumption that the best way to uncover those cheekbones was to suck in your cheeks.

It took me a while to figure out that there was a better way to find the cheekbones.  However, I did notice that applying blush to the apples of the cheeks gave more natural results.

If you are uncertain as to the exact location of those apples of the cheeks, then the simplest approach is to stand in front of your mirror and smile.  The spot where you want to concentrate on is that round, lifted area for your blush.   This method will never let you down when you want to make sure that your blush is properly placed.

Don’t forget to make sure that the blush gets thoroughly blended up into your hairline to keep the look real. Any difficulty you might encounter blending  could mean that you are using the wrong shade of a blush. This problem is easily corrected by switching to a paler, more neutral blush color that will more easily blend into your skin.

Rimmel Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tints

I was never aware of this particular blush until I found a few tubes among some review products from Rimmel.  How I could have missed discovering these blushes that squeeze out with the consistency of not a cream or gel, but more on the order of a mousse completely escapes me.   Now that I had a chance to sample two of the five shades in this line have me curious about sampling the rest.

004 Sunkissed Cherry is hardly red, but more of a warm, medium peachy-pink shade.  
003 Peach Flush is also quite nice, being a warm medium peach.  Either color worked with my fair warm coloring, but the Sunkissed Cherry was my favorite for that robust health it brought just by applying a little to my cheeks.

I would advise using this mousse-like blush sparingly because less is best.  This product really lays down a lot of color so you don’t want to over do your application.

This blush held up quite well through my day.  I wore it from morning until late afternoon before removing my makeup without it fading. The company claims this product will last for 24 hours, but who wears blush that long to verify that claim?  I know that I certainly would never want to leave makeup on for that length of time on purpose.

The next time that you are in the market for new blush, I do suggest stopping by your drugstore or wherever you buy Rimmel products and check out the Stay Blushed! Liquid Cheek Tints line of blushes because you will like them!

This Handy Beauty Fix Will Save You From Starting Over When You Overdo Your Eye Shadow Or Blush

Why start over when you can simply repair your makeup mistake?

Sometimes, it is easy to simply apply too much eye shadow.  Whether you were trying to replicate a new look or just fiddling around with those beautiful colors of a new palette you just bought, most of us experienced this problem at one time or another. Earlier, I gave a tip of how to repair the damage without removing your makeup using a beige shimmer shadow.  However, here is another excellent way that you may like even more as a save.

All you need is to grab a cotton ball and dip it into your loose powder.  Lightly tap the excess powder off in the lid or on a tissue so it doesn’t fall in your eyes first before gently blending the color into the area.  This won’t smear your work and will soften that undesired darkness very nicely.  Use more loose powder if you need it lighter.  

When you accidently go overboard with too much blush, loose powder can also come in handy.  Dip your brush in some loose powder and blend over the problem is all it takes to tame a wild, strong color.

I have become quite fond of blush sticks lately. They are wonderful for creating an instant healthy, but more suitably moist glow for dry skin like mine. Since I also had fallen in love with Pur Minerals Chateau Lip Gloss, I was eager to try their new Chateau Cheek Blush Tints and Brush Duo Stains that came out earlier this Summer 2015 because mineral cosmetics also happen to be a great choice for healthier ingredients that can be absorbed into the skin. PR was kind enough to send along the Rose and Peach Bellini of the four shades in the line for this review.

Besides enriching the skin with antioxidant-rich wine extracts that can help with anti-aging, this gel-like formula stick is unique in another way.  It sports a brush at one end of its blush stick!  

When I first swatched the two shades on my arm, I could see the appealing pink beauty of the Rose shade, gleaming in the light.  However, the Peach Bellini went on so sheer next to it that I could hardly detect that pale orange color.  The photograph looked worse.

I didn’t know how I would get photographs of such transparent color, if this was the best I could get out of these sticks.  Then, I decided to try them directly on my face to see if that would make any difference.

Here is the Peach Bellini stick with the brush.

Lo and behold, the rose color appeared even more a cool pink that gave my cheeks such dewy freshness, blooming with a natural gleaming pink softness.  The Peach Bellini did not disappoint in delivering an infusion of a lively orange color that when blended transformed into a softer natural peach.  

The easiest way to deepen the color is layering more on.  I tried using the brush for blending and it works well for this purpose.  Nonetheless, there is a kink though to this design when it comes to the cap, which makes it a small feat recapping it without harming the bristles in the process.  I wouldn’t be all that concerned about this cap problem because you will probably use this blush stick before the brush will be too hard to work with anyway.

The Rose is swatched under my thumb and the Peach Bellini is closest to my little finger.

My favorite shade was the Rose with my fair complexion.  The Peach Bellini was beautiful, but had bit more yellow to the peach that for someone with a warm pale skin tone would find brought out more sallowness.

Layer Your Blush to Give Those Sweet Cheeks the Longest Lasting Flush Ever!

This beauty knows the secret of how to keep her blush looking fresh and fabulous even through heat and humidity.

Summer’s heat and humidity can make your blush fade if you are not prepared.  However, if you want that cheek color intact all day without disappearing, I have a wonderful makeup tip that makes your blush last and last and look as fresh and beautiful as when you first applied it even if you forget or skip the primer.

Do your makeup as you normally do.  Instead of picking up a cream blush, I suggest start with a powder blush first.  Then, I want you to dust on enough of that flattering shade to give your cheeks that ultimate healthy glow.  Once you do, then dig into your makeup bag and pull out your cream blush.

What you should do next is to dab a bit of that cream blush over top of the powder blush.  Don’t worry, it doesn’t streak once your skillful fingers gently meld the two forms together.

When you finish, you will gain the longest lasting blush ever.  There is also another advantage of this blush technique since it intensifies the sheerer cream color with an added dimension from that the powder blush. 

Learn to Reposition Your Blush and Beautifully Change the Shape of Your Face to Your Advantage!

Besides give your extraordinary color to liven up your face,  you can also consider a blush as a reshaping tool.

Blush can give your face a healthy glow, but it can also do so much more.  Did you know that it can also help alter your facial shape just by changing where you apply?

For instance, you can elegantly elongate a face simply by placing blush with an upward slant on your cheeks.  

On the other hand, if the face is too long and you want it to appear shorter with more width, you can visually accomplish the effect by applying blush horizontally.

Then again, placing the blush vertically on the face helps to slim and lengthen.

However, you need to be careful.  If your face is aging with some wrinkles, sagging, drooping or less than ideal skin or features, stay away from placing any accentuating iridescence or shine that may be in that blush in those particular spots.  Otherwise, you may accidentally only draw some unwanted attention to them. 

Blush Blunders That Could Distract and Age a Face Instead of Enhance Your Beauty

The reason she is angry is because she was in the dark about  the proper way to apply her blush.  Don't make her same mistake.  

Blush is one cosmetic that can make you look healthier, more rested, and even younger looking to work almost magical results for any face, especially for an aging one. If used improperly, this same beauty essential could also work against you.  To avoid falling into that trap, there are some common things that you need to avoid.    

Make sure you are not applying your blusher in the wrong place too low on your cheeks because this area is meant for contouring only.  Wrongly placing color here piles on the age with how it can artificially drag the face down.  Instead, try moving your blush higher up on the cheekbones.

Another mistake centers around those apples of your cheeks.  Be careful of concentrating too heavily on those “apples” by swirling enough blush to mimic a doll-like appearance.  An easy way to lighten up from too heavy of an application is trading your blusher brush for a fatter powder brush.  Since those are fatter with lots more hairs, powder brushes will pick up less pigment and blend the color more easily.

Do not let the blush color wander too close to your nose. What you end up doing by depositing color there is creating the look of reddened nostrils as if you’re stuffed up or suffering from a cold or allergies.  Looking ill is far from beautiful.

Too dark or too blue tones of a blush also can prematurely age a face.  Strive for soft, sheer shades of color that can freshen up the face.

Regardless of your age, blush streaks are never attractive.  You will be less likely to have this happen if you give your moisturizer and foundation sufficient time to set before sweeping on your powder blush.  Applying powder when the surface of your face is still moist is why the blush cakes and streaks.

Hopefully, you are not doing any of those things.  But now that you are in the “know,” you can feel more confident about your ever youthful beauty!

Change Your Blush and Subtract Years From Your Face!

As we age, cheeks start losing their natural plumpness as the fat pads begin to fall. However, there is a trick to address this issue that is worth exploring.   

You might want to try switching to a lighter and slightly brighter shade of blush, especially in rosy or peach tones for those that are in the fair to medium range.  Darker complexions would be better off with paler berry and coral tones to give cheeks a natural lift.  

Try this experiment and see for yourself.  Examine your face the next time you get an excited flush.  Look at that rush of blood going through your cheeks and where it lands.  You can do the same thing with a light, but a bit brighter rosy-pink blush to mimic that look and draw the eye upward!  If you are darker, then do the same thing with a slightly brighter, light shade of a berry or coral blush.

How to Find Your Best Blush Shade While Keeping That Color Vibrant!

Having a warm light skin tone, I asked to try the Peach Fair (Light is Lighter).  The peach colors were natural and subtle with a delicate emphasis of glowing light from the highlighter.  Unlike typical contouring powders that can leave you with dirty looking splotches of brown as you attempt to hollow out cheekbones, this was more of a realistic darker beige.

I think I could have been just as happy using any of the darker versions of this compact because of the lovely transparency of the shades.  In fact, I would love to try the darker version of the Peach Deep (Love is Deeper) in the future so I could compare which was a nicer effect.

I really think this is wonderful compact to have.  I think you will be pleased at the results. In addition, you'll also save money from buying a separate highlighter, a contour, and brushes just with this one product.

Do You Want to Avoid Buying the Wrong Shade of Blush?

How many times have you bought a shade of a blush only to find that it did not work for you?  However, I have a great tip that can help you make a better choice instead of another mistake.

Get in front of your mirror when you are makeup free.  Now pinch a cheek and notice your natural color that springs to the surface.  You might be warm with peach or cool with pink. Do you see plum or brown tones in the mix?  The important part is to closely study that shade you're born with so you can remember what you saw the
next time you are browsing for colors. 

Another useful way to avoid a blush buying mistake is to compare that pinched naked cheek color against one side wearing a blush.  If the color applied is a close match, then you have a winner.  Colors like that would be a sure bet.
